FIRM HISTORY In 1959, Richard Selje and Robert Bond cofounded Selje & Bond Design Consultants. The firm was created to provide industrial product design including architectural products, commercial furniture design, graphic design, brand development and commercial interior design. The firm later grew into Stewart, Romberger & Associates (SRA), South Pasadena.
Simultaneously, Robert W. Kite, AIA, and William Overpeck, formed Kite and Overpeck Architects, Beverly Hills. The firm became known for such iconic buildings as the original design for 9000 Sunset Building, West Hollywood; Beverly Hillcrest Hotel, completed in 1965; and Wallichs Music City, Hollywood.
Inspired to follow in his father’s footsteps, Robert’s son, Brian A. Kite, formed the successor firm to Kite and Overpeck Architects known as Kite and Associates, Santa Monica where he continued with significant commercial commissions including the Westside Bank Corporate Headquarters Office Building, West Los Angeles, CA; USPS Regional Distribution Center renovation, San Diego, CA; and Pershing Square Centre Design, Los Angeles, CA.
In 2012, SRA and Kite & Associates merged to become Stewart, Romberger & Kite Architects Inc., Los Angeles. With a combined staff of more than thirty professionals, SRK’s integrated practice group has garnered some of the most interesting and challenging commercial projects in Southern California and beyond.
Projects include the Hazard Center Office Building, San Diego; the new Walker Zanger Corporate Headquarters, North Hills; Mentor Corporation Headquarters, and Citrix Online Headquarters.

The Owner of On The Tee Sports Accessory Manufacturer developed the project in strategic coordination with the County of Los Angeles’s $22 million Los Angeles River North Valleyheart River-walk Project between Coldwater Canyon and Fulton Avenue.
The project, completed in 2013, represents the conversion of a 50’s era existing non-conforming office building into a state-of-the-art multitenant facility bearing no resemblance to the original building.
In a single concept, SRK brought the building into current seismic compliance, new multitenant lobby, restrooms, security, mechanical, plumbing and new electric service.
