BEHIND THE SCENES OF MINISTRY

Apostle-‐Elect O’Neil Salmon pastoroministries@gmail.com

I Thessalonians 5:12 states “And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you.” Thus I am encouraged to embrace my sons and daughters in a more practical sense and our relationship moves from being s uperficial to one that embraces more depth and meaning. Many aren’t aware to the tremendous assignment that’s bestowed on an anointed leader, thus neglect, lack of appreciation and insensitivity often exists. I find that my greatest assignment in my life emerges in my responsibility to maintain “me”. It’s not a selfish act; it’s a meaningful existence. The roles I play extend from: Child of God, head of my house, husband, father of 2 kids, pastoring a congregation, CEO of 2 non-‐profit organizations, Apostle to the nations, Dean of Schools, mentor to spiritual s ons and daughters, friend to many and much more… In this light, one has to maintain balance, humility and a sense of greater responsibility always. Thus walking in purpose is a mandate and requirement throughout. I remind myself often of this one thing “I’m only human and through GOD, all things are possible; thus I can only do but so much” (Philippians 4:13). I urge the Body of Christ to not only reverence their leaders, but to show an appreciation that is well deserved, as “they watch for your souls” according to Hebrews 13:17. This burden becomes much to bear and a lonely one when it is that they are doing so alone. Leaders, I encourage you all today to embrace your love for God, love your spouses, children and those who you serve. I implore you to remain transparent, steadfast and encouraged!

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD LEADER • As a leader, you cannot “drive” people; you must “lead” them. • A leader must be found faithful in stewardship. • You cannot really lead and help people if you don’t like them. • You cannot fully conquer Kingdoms until you have conquered yourself.

It’s vital that as a member and covenant partner with Shiloh Restoration Tabernacle, that you know and understand the totality of our vision. Your seeds sown enable us to continue to advance the Vision, establish our Kingdom Assignment as conveyed to us through Apostle-‐Elect O and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ as commission by the Word of God. (Deuteronomy 8:18) • PRESENT DIRECTION: We are so grateful for our partnership to India and our FRIENDS2MISSIONS. As the holiday season approaches, we will be casting out an opportunity for all to assist in helping us send care packages to those orphaned children in India. We are aimed at sending a shipment overseas by st the 1 week of December 2012. • PRESENT STRATEGY: We have assessed our present surplus on book bags remaining from our previous year’s back to school events and have set aside 50 in total. Our plans are to stuff each book bag with personalized holiday cards from our FRIENDS2MISSIONS, load them up with a few school supplies and what would the holidays to a child be without a few cuddly friends/toys too. • PRESENT NEED: Like anything else, with a great vision like this one; this task cannot be accomplished without your help and support. Thus, we ask that you consider sowing a small seed of $5.00 to “INDIA4THEHOLIDAYS” and assist us in packing these bags with love and goodies. (Budget: $350) An opportunity will be extended to all those who would like to come together and help pack these bags, write up these cards and help us send it off with love. Let’s show the love of Christ to those who cannot do for themselves this year.

REAL PEOPLE – LIVING REAL LIVES – IN REAL RELATIONSHIPS – SERVING A REAL GOD 3

By: Minister Etta Rahming / ettarahming@gmail.com

INTERCESSORY PRAYER Intercessory prayer is prayer for others. An intercessor is one who takes the place of another, pleads another's c ase or prays on behalf of another. The more in right standing with God the better equipped us as Intercessors are because standing in the gap also means taking blows from the enemy meant for others. Spiritual warfare is constant and this is not seen in the natural. The quantity of spiritual warfare that takes place is known by few. There is a constant getting in better standing with God to increase the effectiveness of our prayers. We die out to ourselves daily (we all do to get in right standing with God). One of our greatest assets is knowledge. Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…. We have an Intercessors Team Gathering monthly where we pray and edification of knowledge is imparted into us which is being facilitated by Pastor Georgia Salmon. In addition, we had an Intercessors Class taught by Teacher Beryl Walker (classes will be restarting soon) where again knowledge was imparted to us. We are constantly praying, gaining knowledge, interceding… Great moments have been when the Intercessors have stopped what they were doing and prayed, when with a few words they are on the wall…

How does Evangelist Octoryia Robinson (Founder of Building Better Outreaches, Inc.) make it happen with (5) kids, ministry and more?

It is only by God's GUIDANCE.

God's Unmistakable Instructions Directions and Assurance that enables me to Navigate through every Circumstance with faith, trust and Endurance Every day I open my heart to seek God's GUIDANCE for every aspect of my life. Nothing is too little or too big to carry to Him concerning me the women, the mother, the minister, etc. He is truly the one that strengthens and sees me through it all! This is not only my method but it is so says the Word of the Lord (Proverbs 16:9). The key to this being a success in your life is your response to God's GUIDANCE. The only responses that will yield a harvest is OBEDIENCE!

I would encourage you to seek God’s GUIDANCE and respond in OBEDIENCE regarding everything so that y ou the person, your family or y our ministry will not lack any good thing!!

THE POWER OF $5.00 Who would have thought that only $5 would be able to assist someone in need? Well, we did and now you can too! Consider sowing only $5 weekly or monthly into our Benevolence Fund and assist those in need; you never know, the next person in need may be you!

4

We do have a process in place to v alidate each need; to assist each person to get on a new path to success and to ensure that all needs are considered fairly by our Benevolence Ministry Team. See Elder Melvin Merritt for more information on our Benevolence Ministry.

BIBLE TRIVIA

I was instructed by the Lord through Isaiah the prophet to set my house in order for I would die and not live. Who Am I? The Lord instructed me to take unto me a wife of whoredom and children of whoredom; He said to love her who's loved of her friend yet an adulteress, but to love her according to the love of the Lord toward the children of Israel, who look to other gods & love flagons of wine. Who Am I? I am the woman he married. Who Am I? I declared these words unto the Lord "I have heard of you by the hearing of the ear but now my eye see you." Who Am I?

MOST CHURCH GOERS DON’T READ BIBLE DAILY!

While the majority of churchgoers desire to honor Christ with their lives and even profess to think on biblical truths, a recent study found few actually engage in personal reading and study of the Scriptures. "Bible engagement" is one of the eight attributes of discipleship identified in the Transformational Discipleship study conducted by LifeWay Research. The study produced the Transformational Discipleship Assessment, which measures an individual's spiritual growth in each of these areas of development. The survey found 90 percent of churchgoers agree "I desire to please and honor Jesus in all I do," and 59 percent agree with the statement: "Throughout the day I find myself thinking about biblical truths." While the majority agrees with both statements, there is a significant difference in the strength of agreement. Nearly two-‐thirds of churchgoers (64 percent) strongly agree with the first statement, but only 20 percent strongly agree with the second. However, when asked how often they personally (not as part of a church worship service) read the Bible, a similar number respond "every day" (19 percent) as respond "rarely/never" (18 percent). A quarter indicates they read the Bible a few times a week. Fourteen percent say they read the Bible "once a week" and another 22 percent say "once a month" or "a few times a month." "Bible engagement has an impact in just about every area of spiritual growth," said Ed Stetzer, president of LifeWay Research. "You can follow Christ and see Christianity as your source of truth, but if that truth does not permeate your thoughts, aspirations and actions, you are not fully engaging the truth. "God's Word is truth, so it should come as no surprise that reading and studying the Bible are still the activities that have the most impact on growth in this attribute of spiritual maturity," Stetzer said. "As basic as that is, there are still numerous churchgoers who are not reading the Bible regularly. You simply won't grow if you don't know God and spend time in God's Word." The survey also reveals six actions that positively impact the Bible engagement scores of individuals. 1. Confessing wrongdoings to God and asking forgiveness. 2. Believing in Jesus Christ as the only way to heaven and the number of years one has believed this. 3. Making a decision to obey or follow God with an awareness that choosing to do so might be costly. Sixty-‐three percent of churchgoers say they have at least once in the last six months. 4. Praying for the spiritual status of people they know are not professing Christians. 5. Reading a book about increasing their spiritual growth. Sixty-‐one percent of churchgoers say they have in the last year. 6. Having been discipled or mentored one-‐on-‐one by a more spiritually mature Christian. Nearly half of churchgoers (47 percent) say they have been discipled or mentored. "Bible engagement points people toward maturity and maturing Christians have practices that correspond to Bible reading. Almost all churchgoers want to honor God, but more than a third indicate obedience is not something they have done when it is costly to them," Stetzer said. "The impact of the Word of God on people's lives is seen in the relationship between Bible engagement and turning from wrongdoings and choosing to obey God-‐-‐two indicators of higher Bible engagement scores," he added. "Such tangible life changes show the transformational impact of Bible engagement in the life of a disciple of Christ."
