FOCUS ON THE FAMILY!

As we look around and observe the destruction of the family dynamics, we need embrace the fact that much of this has occurred due to ignorance, neglect and a disregard of our responsibilities. Our view of what was once considered the “traditional family dynamic” (father, mother and children) has changed. As more single parent families emerge in the forefront, we now see the overwhelming responsibilities being assumed by a single gender. In addition, we face the rise of divorces, loveless homes, and orphaned children. It is important that we commit ourselves to rise above becoming or living as a statistic. I Timothy 5:8 states, “If anyone fails to provide for his relatives, and especially for those of his own family, he has disowned the faith [by failing to accompany it with fruits] and is worse than an unbeliever [who performs his obligation in these matters].” I encourage you to take your post, seize the opportunity at hand to become a shining example to others in your role. Fathers, take your place as the leaders of your home; strive to love as Christ did… unconditionally. Ephesians 6:4 tells us “Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the L ord.” Our lack of support, encouragement, forceful hand, insensitivity and more, may be leading the charge on provocation. It’s time to embrace the responsibilities of parenthood. You and I can find help in the Lord, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13. Remain teachable and continue renewing your mind. Your family needs you…

September 16, 2012 “Children and youth who attend religious services weekly exhibit the fewest behavior problems, are more likely to have high-‐quality relationships with their parents, and are more likely to exhibit positive social behavior, including showing respect for teachers and neighbors, getting along with other children, understanding other people’s feelings, and trying to resolve conflicts with classmates, family, or friends.” — National Survey of Children’s Health, as quoted by Hal Seed, N ew Song Community Church

It’s vital that as a member and covenant partner with Shiloh R estoration Tabernacle, that you know and understand the totality of our vision. Your seeds sown enable us to continue to advance the Vision, establish our Kingdom Assignment as conveyed to us through Apostle-‐Elect O and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ as commission by the Word of God. (Deuteronomy 8:18) • PRESENT DIRECTION: You may have noticed some recent upgrading of equipment throughout the ministry in the area of our technology. It is our endeavor to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ by way of Internet Broadcasting. We have been down this road before, however we did not have the proper tools. Our projected start will be September 2012. Did you know that our North American Population is 347,394,870 and 273,067,546 of that are internet users; while the world’s population is 6,930,055,154 and only 2,267,233,742 of that are online. We have a world to reach with this message of love, hope and salvation. Together we can do more… • PRESENT STRATEGY: With the upgrading of equipment, we aim to train interested and capable individuals (male & female) to operate video cameras, video mixing board and how to broadcast online via our Media Stations. We are also fine-‐tuning how we present the ministry weekly, so as to ensure that it functions well and that all team members remember the vision. • PRESENT NEED: Frankly, we need you… Much of our endeavors need interested and capable individuals. Where skill is absent, we’ll take the “will to learn” any day of the week. As said before, training will be provided. Funds are always appreciated. We are currently paying off the expense of this upgrade and we welcome your sowing of seeds. Memo Line: A/V Team

FAMILY

Family -‐ a fundamental social group in society typically consisting of one or two parents and their children. When I went to bed last night, I had a mother, a father and a younger brother. When I woke, I had a mother, father, a younger brother, and an older brother. When I went to bed last night, I had a mother, a father, a younger brother, and an older brother. When I woke, I had a mother, a father, a younger brother, and a half-‐brother. When I went to bed last night, I had a mother, a father, a younger brother, and a half-‐brother. When I woke, I had a mother, a father, a younger brother, and a step-‐brother. When I went to bed last night, I had a mother, a father, a younger brother, and a step-‐brother. When I woke, I had a mother, a father, a step-‐brother but no y ounger brother. Then I had a mother, a father, and a step-‐brother, no younger brother Next I had a step -‐ father and a step-‐brother. Next I had a step-‐father, a step-‐mother, a father, a step-‐brother, two half-‐sisters, one dead half-‐sister, and one step-‐sister. In the secular, the composition of a family can be ever-‐changing. In the spiritual, God’s word for families is consistent. If you remember nothing else please remember: Exodus 20:12 “Honor thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.”

You can help your environment and your ministry by turning in those old cellphones and computer ink cartridges and copier toners. Not only will you provide a cleaner environment for your children, but assist in raising funds for the ministry. 4 Turn them in to the Administration Office at anytime. Thank you kindly!

GOING GREEN RECYCLING & FUNDRAISING PROGRAM

TWELVE RULES FOR RAISING JUVENILE DELINQUENT CHILDREN years ago the city of Houston Texas waged an ad campaign to Some deter juvenile crime, the Houston Police Department came up with “Twelve Rules for Raising Juvenile Delinquent Children.” 1. Begin with infancy to give the child everything they want. In this way they will grow up to believe the world owes them a living. 2. When they pick up bad words, laugh at them. This will make them think that it is c ute. 3. Never give them any spiritual training. Wait until they are twenty-‐ one and then let them “decide for themself.’ 4. Avoid use of the word “wrong.” It may develop a guilt complex. This will condition them to believe later, when they are arrested for stealing a car, that society is against them and they are being persecuted. 5. Pick up everything they leave lying around. Do everything for them so that they will be experienced in throwing all responsibility on others. 6. Let them read any printed matter they can get their hands on. Be careful, that the silverware and drinking glasses are sterilized, but let their minds feast on garbage. 7. Quarrel frequently in the presence of your children. In this way they won’t be shocked when the home is broken up later. 8. Give a child all the spending money they want. Never let them earn their own. 9. Satisfy their every craving for food, drink and comfort. See that every s ensual desire is gratified. 10. Take their part against neighbors, teachers and policemen. They

Never discipline in anger. Pick your battles, not everything is worthy of a battle. Realize that even children need to express anger from time to time. Choose the best time and place to discipline. Never discipline in anger. Always discipline in private. 5. Choose your words carefully and speak in a soft tone of voice. Proverbs 15:1 “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” (NKJV) Discipline of course, means conflict and far to often parents attempt to resolve conflict with a yelling session with their children. This does no good and may do a lot of harm.

We may have a process, but we do have a heart to help you. In turbulent times like these, we need to remember the Body of Christ. Consider sowing into this area at anytime. Funded & Supported by you. See Elder Melvin Merritt for more info. on our Benevolence Ministry.

LOVE THY FAMILY

CHICKEN, SAUSAGE AND PEPPERS

By: Marcella Williams

Ingredients:

One of the greatest blessings, which the heavenly father has bestowed upon us, is family. According to Gods’ word, the following statement was expressed to Abraham regarding families: “You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Acts 3:25). However, with the everyday struggles of life, often times, we forget this aspect, which in-‐turn can c reate unnecessary turmoil and/or destruction in families. As we are aware, the purpose of family is to create a sense of comfort, love, protection, connection and security. However in-‐order for families to be successful, they must incorporate sound Christian values, which will in-‐turn, work to create a solid foundation, both in and out of the home.

2 tablespoons unsalted butter 3/4 pound sweet or hot Italian sausage, cut into chunks 3/4 pound skinless, boneless chicken breasts, cut into chunks Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper 1 tablespoon all-‐purpose flour 1 small onion, chopped 2 Italian green frying peppers, cut into 1-‐inch pieces 3 cloves garlic, roughly chopped 1/2 cup dry white wine 3/4 cup low-‐sodium chicken broth 1/4 cup roughly chopped fresh parsley 2 jarred pickled cherry peppers, chopped, plus 2 tablespoons liquid from the jar Directions: Heat 1-‐tablespoon butter in a large skillet over medium-‐high heat. Cook the sausage until golden, about 2 minutes. Season the chicken with salt and pepper, then toss with the flour in a bowl; add to the skillet and cook until browned but not cooked through, about 3 minutes. Add the onion, peppers, garlic, 1/2-‐teaspoon salt, and pepper to taste and cook 3 minutes. Add the wine, scraping up any browned bits; bring to a boil and cook until slightly reduced, about 1 minute. Add the broth and bring to a gentle simmer. Cover and cook until the sausage and chicken are cooked through, about 5 minutes. Transfer the chicken, sausage and vegetables to a platter with a slotted spoon. Increase the heat to high and stir the parsley and cherry peppers and their liquid into the skillet; boil until reduced by one-‐third, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the remaining 1-‐tablespoon butter. Pour the sauce over the chicken mixture.

Some examples include but are not limited to the following:

1. 2. 3.

God: God must always be first in-‐order for a family to be s uccessful. Prayer & Worship: A family, who prays and worships together, stays together. Communication: Taking the time to talk with your family, works to bridge communication gaps and misunderstandings. 4. Fellowship: Spending time together as a family aids in the process of creating a solid family unit. 5. Love& Understanding: Remember to always love one another through the good and the bad, for we all make mistakes. God always forgives us when we sin; therefore it is our job to do the same unto one another. 6. Listening: Take the time to listen to one another, thus everyone is important and desires to be heard, even children. All-‐in-‐all families are a beautiful blessing from God, therefore always remember to cherish and love one another, focusing on what matters most.

From the roots grew a sprout, From the s prout a tree. From the tree grew its branches Reaching to Heaven for all to see. On the branch the leaf did blow On the jet stream of the wind. On the day the leaf let go A new cycle was to begin. In that leaf a pod was held, In that pod a seed. In that seed a life did wait For its c hance to proceed. And from the ground the seed did sprout And from the sprout came a tree. And from the tree different branches grew Reaching to Heaven for all to see. And while reaching, they will intertwine With those from which they c ame. And from each branch the leaf will fly To carry on the family name.

TEACHING GOOD STUDY HABITS / A TIME & A PLACE

Good study habits begin with an appropriate time and place for study. Setting a routine time for study is key. Find a time that fits both your schedule and y our child's. Study time may need to be flexible in families in which parents aren't home when kids come home from school; however, some general rules can guide you in setting a proper time and place. DOES Y OUR CHILD NEED A SCHEDULE? How responsible is your child? If he accomplishes homework independently and studies in a timely manner, there's no need for you to specify a time for study. On the other hand, if he hasn't studied enough, you should help him structure his time. The amount of time will vary with their grade and school requirements. Elementary school children should study from 15 minutes to one hour; middle school c hildren need one to two hours; and high school students require between two and three hours each evening. THE TIMER TECHNIQUE If your child isn't used to spending time studying, use a timer and hold her to a specified and agreed upon amount of time. If she says she's completed all of her homework far before the allotted time is up, have her use the remainder for review, organizing notes or doing extra reading for future book reports or for pleasure. Remind your kids that the timer and prescriptive study times are only a temporary measure to help them manage their study time independently. For children who love to read, permitting them to do pleasure reading during study time may be counterproductive. Writing or math study could c omplete their study time. Inform them that when their achievement habits improve, you'll be more flexible and allow them to set their own study schedule. AFTER-‐SCHOOL RELAXATION There should be a break immediately after school for children to have a snack and some physical and social activity. Children often believe they should use that break to watch television. However, television will put them into a passive mode, and they're unlikely to want to stop watching to begin studying. It's better to insist that television follow study and homework. Your children may say, "But I need to relax after school." Assure them that they will get to relax. Exercise is both relaxing and energizing and more appropriate after a day of sitting in school. Certainly, having time to chat or clown around or play is appropriate for after school, but television is not. AFTER-‐STUDY FUN In determining the right time for study, keep in mind that kids need something to look forward to after study. If possible, at least part of children's study time should take place before the evening meal, leaving time for play or television after study. If the study time is set late in the evening, study will be less efficient and there won't be time afterwards for play. With only bedtime to follow, kids aren't motivated toward efficiency. Homework or study may also become an excuse to stay up late if it is scheduled just before bedtime. (For some reason unknown to adults, few children enjoy going to sleep!) They often look for ways to stay up as long as adults are awake. CREATE A STUDY SPOT Having a designated study place is equally important for helping children learn efficiently. A desk in your c hild's room, with a STUDENT AT WORK sign posted on the door, is ideal. Many kids have desks, although they may be cluttered with junk. If kids don't have their own rooms, there are other good alternatives: the kitchen, dining room or basement are reasonable places as long as no one else is in the same room, and the kids are out of listening and v iewing range of the TV while they're studying.

LOOKING FOR A GREAT READ? The spirited child — often called "difficult" or "strong-‐willed" — leaving parents feeling frustrated and inadequate. Spirited kids are, in fact, simply "more" — by temperament, they are more intense, sensitive, perceptive, persistent, and uncomfortable with change than the average child.
