The Best of
Both Worlds The Coordinate Program St. Catherine’s School & St. Christopher’s School
The Saints Coordinate Program Expert teachers combined with intentionally-designed academic curricula provide the ideal learning environment on each campus for your sons and daughters. We know that young minds need time and attention to develop a strong foundation of learning and confidence. As your children grow and mature, our schools collaborate to provide distinctive programs and opportunities that bring boys and girls together—this is the Saints Coordinate Program.
lower school
A Stellar Foundation Our single-gender teaching and learning in the Lower School is the ideal environment for every child’s foundational years. You can rest assured that your child will be known, understood, loved and challenged. We embrace the opportunity to bring boys and girls together for specific academic projects and enrichment that nurture their relationships with one another.
Coordinate Highlights: • Creative writing opportunities such as Caldecott Book Exchange and Pen Pal Projects • String Ensemble starting in grade 2
• Engineering days and innovation projects • Math Expo • Grade-level social activities
Flexible After-School Care Our coordinated afterschool program called “Extended Day” serves girls and boys in junior kindergarten through grade eight. Held yearround at St. Christopher’s, there are various schedule options to meet the needs of your family.
middle school
The Path to Self-Discovery As your sons and daughters approach adolescence, our singlegender classrooms allow them to grow leaps and bounds in intellect and confidence. With guidance from expert faculty, they will discover their passions and find their voices. We gradually increase age-appropriate joint interactions in the Middle School that focus on the arts and service learning.
Coordinate Highlights: • String Ensemble, band and theatre performances • Service learning projects • Student-led Thanksgiving Chapel Service • Parent-Child Wellness Dialogue Nights • Grade-level social activities and school dances
upper school
Seizing the Future The Coordinate Program culminates in the Upper School as your sons and daughters select coed courses at either campus to fully customize their academic experiences. It’s as if they are already in a college setting, managing their schedules and navigating classes at both campuses. Students also enjoy coed experiences in the performing arts, extracurricular clubs, community service activities and travel opportunities.
the arts
Student Talent Soars Our thriving visual and performing arts programs provide numerous opportunities for young women and men to create and to collaborate in and out of the classroom. From Shakespearean theatre and contemporary musicals to modern dance, jazz band and art courses, your children will discover themselves and the world around them through creative self-expression.
x-term
Real-World Experiences Upper School students from both schools participate in a yearlong experiential learning program called X-Term. This opportunity provides our students the flexibility to delve deeper into a passion or talent, explore something completely new or engage in study and service around the world.
Recent examples include: • STEM: The Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, Switzerland • Language and Cultural Immersion in China • Students and Social Change: A Civil Rights Tour of the Deep South • Rehabilitation and Sports Psyching: Achieving Peak Performance • Service trip to St. Jacques School in Mirebalais, Haiti • Examining the historical and cultural impact of 9/11 • Outward Bound: Adventure and Service in Patagonia
Fully Coordinated for Your Family Families are initially drawn to St. Catherine’s and St. Christopher’s for our legacy of academic excellence and expertise in single-gender education, but we are so much more. Together, we serve families with coordinated schedules to accommodate carpools, morning sibling shuttles, school holidays and after-school care. Joint parent enrichment events, school carnivals and special performances also enable parents and children to have a fulfilling community experience. There is nothing more we would rather do than help your sons and daughters become men and women who live with passion, purpose and integrity.
You can count on St. Catherine’s to bring out the best in each girl and St. Christopher’s to bring out the best in every boy. Our expert teachers will provide your sons and daughters with personal attention and girl-centered or boy-focused teaching and learning – the best of both worlds.
