As I have said each year, we owe the success of this Golf Classic event to the hard work and dedication of so many participants, staff members and volunteers. In the end though, each year we come together with our Franciscan spirit and pride to honor some wonderful individuals and their families! And this year is no exception. My heartfelt gratitude and congratulations go to:
Ann Marie Rich and Jean Colucci-Kiley ‘80 & Jack Kiley ‘80
Ann Marie and the Kiley’s exemplify the best of our Franciscan tradition. They have helped us promote academic excellence, true sportsmanship, generosity, and service to others--traits that have distinguished the St. Francis Prep community since its founding in Brooklyn more than 160 years ago. Thank you for helping us carry on this legacy!
Also, thank you to all of our golfers, dinner guests, key sponsors, journal advertisers, and hole and tee sponsors, especially Lisa and Bob Adams ‘80, our overall Event Sponsors once again. This event was “sold out” within ten days of the event notice. And the commemorative journal is the largest we have seen in years. This is a reflection of your devotion and generous commitment to the Prep, as well as your warm feelings about our honorees. And our nearly 2500 students are very thankful for your support!
Finally, I want to express my gratitude to all the members of the SFP Alumni Board, the Golf Classic Committee and the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. You work together to organize this event each year and I truly appreciate your efforts. Thank you!
Have a great day and a wonderful summer!
Yours in St. Francis,
Bro. Leonard Conway, O.S.F., President

“It Is In Giving That We Receive”
Ann Marie Rich
Varsity Softball Coach & Science Faculty Member
It takes stamina, dedication and grit to motivate high school students in the classroom and on a team. Teachers who are successful coaches have great passion and dedication. They are fully committed to their students success and often work “half days”—12 hours is half of the day! Ann Marie (Ditizio) Rich surely ranks among the greatest teachers and coaches. She maintains a positive outlook and manages a smile during the toughest days in the classroom and on the field.
Ann Marie graduated Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in 1982. She was gifted both academically and athletically as evidenced by her membership in the National Honor Society and participating in three sports-- cross country, basketball and softball-during her four years.
Upon graduating, she enrolled at St. Francis College and earned her Bachelor of Science- Physical Education-Teacher Training- K-12 in 1986. She continued her studies at Queens College where she earned a Master of Science- Physical Education- Exercise Specialist. In 1986, she began her career teaching at Bishop Loughlin High School where she was a member of the Health and Phys Ed department. At the same time (starting in 1987) she coached softball at St. Francis Prep. And when an opportunity opened
up in 1990, she joined the St. Francis Prep faculty and began teaching Biology and Human Anatomy while continuing to serve as the JV softball coach. She proved to be an excellent coach. Her teams won five Brooklyn/Queens Junior Varsity Championship and four JV City Championships. In 1995, Ann Marie became the Varsity coach--and has been at the helm ever since.
Under her tutelage she led the varsity team to seven Brooklyn/ Queens Championships, four City Championships and one State Championship. She was named “Coach Of The Year” five times and served as the Softball Commissioner from 2005-2014.
Service to the Prep Community Instilling discipline in and out of the classroom is important. But far more importantly, Ann Marie emphasizes
the importance our Franciscan mission and involves her teams in school sponsored service projects and outreach programs.
Ann Marie was inducted into the Girls Catholic High School Hall Of Fame in 2016. When word spread, a Terrier alumna who played on the softball team a decade earlier, expressed her gratitude for the great lessons she learned.
She wrote about how she sometimes disliked the long days in classroom that were followed by hours of physically challenging drills and practices on the field. She cited how the Coach Rich created an atmosphere and a team spirit that forged lasting bonds of friendships among the players. She recalled the times that Coach Rich challenged her and her teammates and held them all to a very high standard. She
said, “Coach Rich never accepted anything less than 100% from us all of the time.” That is something that she later realized was for her good and the good of the team. And she added, “I hope that someday my children get the opportunity to play for a coach like (Mrs. Rich ) who challenges them to work hard and give it 100%.
For the past two decades, Al Weinman has been along side of her on the softball team. He said, “By 7 A.M. on a game-day, Ann Marie is already working to prepare for the day’s game. Whether it’s about the lineup, player availability, or any other issues, she’s always on top of it.”
Al will tell you that what makes Ann Marie special is that she always puts her girls first. “She teaches her girls that win or lose unity, bond, and team are what matter most.” he said.
After every game or practice, Ann Marie returns home, after 9:00 P.M. and then begins her preparation for the next day. “These are the things nobody sees or can truly appreciate but it’s what makes Ann Marie a great coach, teacher, and colleague we have all grown to love.” Weinman said.
SFP Athletic Director, Sal Fischetti (Class of 1983) said, “Ann Marie is a longtime colleague of mine and I also consider her to be a very good friend. It is so wonderful that the Prep chose to honor Ann Marie in this way.”
Ann Marie and her wonderful husband, Kerry reside in Suffolk County with their adorable and faith dog, Leo!
Congratulations Ann Marie!

Jean Colucci-Kiley ‘80 and Jack Kiley ‘80
St. Francis Prep is delighted to honor Jeannie and Jack at the 30th Annual Golf Classic! From their early days as Prep students, they have mirrored our Catholic, Franciscan ideals of active service, community involvement and sprituality.
Their First Meeting
Proms and Beyond
In Br. Robert Kent’s freshman social studies class, Jack was taken by Jeannie’s energy and intellect. Jeannie may have been perplexed by the saddle shoes. But it was a conversation sophomore year (on “East Middle”) that sparked the real interest. Jeannie was chatting with classmate Rich Waitkus and Jack joined in. When Rich left, the conversation continued. No doubt there were a few laughs and likely an early recognition of shared interests and perspectives. One of the greatest teams in SFP history was about to be formed.
The sophomore semi-formal must have gone well as they played it back for their junior and senior proms. Throughout high school, they found plenty of time for each other amid their jam-packed schedules as scholarathletes. For Jeannie, it was four years of varsity softball and cheerleading. Jack would play basketball (All City), soccer (All City), and run track, yet still speaks more of his time as second board on the chess team. We’re checking the record books to see how long his team’s 4 x 800 sophomore relay record stood.
CHERRY VALLEY CLUB, GARDEN CITY, NY • June 17, 2024
After senior year, it was off to college. Jean would attend the College of Mount St. Vincent on a full nursing scholarship while Jack set off to Amherst College, where he played four years of varsity basketball.
Post-graduate, Jeannie worked as an ICU nurse in the Bronx VA hospital as part of her scholarship program. Jack chose to defer law school to work with homeless youth at Covenant House, first in New York and then in Toronto. Geography posed but a surmountable challenge as it was clear to Jack and Jeannie that they were their best selves when they were with each other.
Marriage, Family & Careers
In 1986 they married, living in Queens initially and eventually Long Island. As Jack began his law career, Jeannie and Jack started a family. Their son Jack was quickly followed by Dan, Maureen, Maggie and Drew.
Sharing Their Time, Talents And Treasure
As if raising a busy, active family of five wasn’t enough, Jean and Jack became deeply involved in their parish, their children’s schools, and their community – just as their parents before them had done. Jack happily shares that he is now in the 27th year of his threeyear term as President of St. Anne’s CYO (no
one else wants the job!).
Professionally, Jack’s long career as an employment lawyer bracketed a multi-year stretch as CEO of a tech startup. Currently, he is a partner in the labor department of Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton. Jeannie returned to work when their children grew older, serving ten years as a school nurse at the Marymount School of New York.
Through their countless joys and occasional challenges, faith has been a constant in Jeannie and Jack’s life together. Not content to confine themselves to just Franciscan spirituality, they became involved with the Jesuit order through its multimedia enterprise. It was Jean who provided the introductions that found Jack serving on the America Media board. Together they supported the organization’s mission and traveled to the Holy Land on an extraordinarily inspiring pilgrimage.
It’s been four and a half decades since that first meeting at the Prep, yet Jeannie and Jack still love to do everything together, from crossword puzzles and watching sports, to hosting family and friends every chance they get.
Both avid golfers, they’ve taken trips to Scotland, California and Ireland, with more planned for the future. They still make plenty of time for their favorite foursome, their grandchildren: Jackson (John E. Kiley III), Bennett, Noah and Declan.
Perhaps nothing epitomizes the essence of Jeannie and Jack’s life together more than their home. It is invariably filled with family and friends, music (with Jack at the piano) and laughter, love and faith lived vibrantly in every aspect of their daily life. Where there is darkness they seek to bring light; where there is sadness they happily share their joy.
For their generosity of spirit, their vivid embrace of the best of Franciscan ideals, St. Francis Prep is thrilled to honor Jeannie and Jack at this year’s Golf Classic.
