The Sunday Celebration We are a growing Christian community celebrating and enacting the love of God through prayer and service in this neighbourhood. In our celebration today, we will try to be joyful and reflective, playful and reverent, as our thanksgiving for the new life which God gives us through Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. Here is the shape of our service this morning: We gather together as a community of faith. We read the Word of God given to us in the Bible. We respond to the readings through silence, song and preaching. We break the bread and share the cup of wine. We take God’s love out into our lives and the world. Children are full members of our church and we welcome their presence and participation in our worship. If at any point you are unable to stand please feel free to be seated.
Prelude: Thanks be to Thee

Processional Hymn# 1 Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God, Almighty AS YOU ARE ABLE PLEASE STAND.
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee: Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty, God in three persons, blessed Trinity! Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee, Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea; Cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee, Which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be. Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee, Though our sinful human gaze thy glory may not see, Only thou art holy; there is none beside thee, Perfect in power, in love, and purity. Holy, holy, holy, Lord God almighty! All thy works shall praise thy name in earth and sky and sea; Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty, God in three persons, blessed Trinity! Prayer of the Day The Proclamation of the Word PLEASE BE SEATED First Reading: Isaiah 6.1-8 Reader: A reading from the book of Isaiah In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lofty; and the hem of his robe filled the temple. Seraphs were in attendance
above him; each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, and with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory.” The pivots on the thresholds shook at the voices of those who called, and the house filled with smoke. And I said: “Woe is me! I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; yet my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!” Then one of the seraphs flew to me, holding a live coal that had been taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. The seraph touched my mouth with it and said: “Now that this has touched your lips, your guilt has departed and your sin is blotted out.” Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I; send me!” Reader: The word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God. Psalm 147:1-6 (please remain seated)
Choir: How good it is to sing praise to our God! How pleasant it is to honour him with praise. The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem, he gathers all the exiles of Israel. People: There is one Lord… Choir: He heals with love the broken-hearted and binds up all their wounds. He counts the number of the stars, and calls them all, them all by their names. People: There is one Lord … Choir: Great is our Lord and mighty in power, there is no limit to his wisdom. The Lord lifts up, lifts up the lowly but casts the wicked to the ground. People: There is one Lord … Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 15.1-11 Reader: A reading from the first letter of Paul to the Corinthians
Now I would remind you, brothers and sisters, of the good news that I proclaimed to you, which you in turn received, in which also you stand, through which also you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message that I proclaimed to you unless you have come to believe in vain. For I handed on to you as of first importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. For I am the least of the apostles, unfit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me has not been in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them – though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me. Whether then it was I or they, so we proclaim and so you have come to believe. Reader: The word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God. Gospel Acclamation:
The Holy Gospel: Luke 5:1-11 Presider: The Lord be with you. All: And also with you.
Music: Traditional South African
Presider: The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Luke All: Verse 2 sung: Glory to you Lord Jesus Christ! (x2) Alleluia (x4) Once while Jesus was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret, and the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he saw two boats there at the shore of the lake; the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little way from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets were beginning to break. So they signalled their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!” For he and all who were with him were amazed at the catch of fish that they had taken; and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people.” When they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed him. Presider: The Gospel of Christ. People: Verse 3 sung: Praise be to you Lord Jesus Christ! I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen The Prayers of the People: (Please stand or kneel as you prefer) Please respond to the petitions by singing “Lord hear our prayer”.

For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen. Presider: Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. It fills the heart with ecstasy, That God, the Son of God, should take our mortal form for mortals' sake.
God sent no angel to our race, of higher or of lower place, But wore the robe of human frame for us, and to this lost world came. For us he was baptized, and bore his holy fast, and hungered sore; For us temptations sharp he knew; for us the tempter overthrew. For us he prayed, for us he taught, for us his daily works he wrought; By words and signs, and actions, thus still seeking not himself but us. For us by wickedness betrayed, scourged, mocked, in purple robe arrayed, He bore the shameful cross and death; for us at length gave up his breath. For us he rose from death again, for us he went on high to reign, For us he sent his Spirit here to guide, to strengthen, and to cheer. To God whose boundless love has won salvation for us through the Son, To God the Father, glory be both now and through eternity. Prayer Over the Gifts Eucharistic Prayer (please remain standing)
Presider: Blessed are you, gracious God, ‌. (the presider will sing one of the proper prefaces) ‌ we raise our voices to proclaim the glory of your name. (We then sing verses 1-3 of the Sanctus following‌)
Presider: We give thanks to you, Lord our God, for the goodness and love you have made known to us in creation; in calling Israel to be your people; in your Word spoken through the prophets; and above all in the Word made flesh, Jesus your Son. For in these last days you sent him to be incarnate from the Virgin Mary, to be the Saviour and Redeemer of the world. In him, you have delivered us from evil, and made us worthy to stand before you. In him, you have brought us out of error into truth, out of sin into righteousness, out of death into life. On the night he was handed over to suffering and death, a death he freely accepted, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his friends and said, “Take, eat: this is my body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” After supper he took the cup of wine, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them and said, “Drink this, all of you: this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for all for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.” (After the words over the cup and the elevation of the chalice we sing the following…) People: (sing) (Verse 4) Glory be to you O Lord! Glory now and evermore! Hosanna in the highest! Presider: Therefore, Father, according to his command. People:we remember his death, we proclaim his resurrection, we await his coming in glory;
Presider: and we offer our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to you, Lord of all; presenting to you, from your creation, this bread and this wine. We pray you, gracious God, to send your Holy Spirit upon these gifts, that they may be the sacrament of the body of Christ and his blood of the new covenant. Unite us to your Son in his sacrifice, that we, made acceptable in him, may be sanctified + by the Holy Spirit. In the fullness of time, reconcile all things in Christ, and make them new, and bring us to that city of light where you dwell with all your sons and daughters; through Jesus Christ our Lord, the firstborn of all creation, the head of the Church, and the author of our salvation; by whom, and with whom, and in whom, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory are yours, almighty Father, now and for ever. People: (sing) (Verse 5) Glory be to you O Lord! Glory now and evermore! To you for evermore. Amen The Lord’s Prayer BAS Page 211 Presider: And now, as our Saviour Christ has taught us, we are bold to pray, All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen The Breaking of the Bread Presider: “I am the bread of life” says the Lord. “Whoever comes to me will never be hungry; whoever believes in me will never thirst” People: Taste and see that the Lord is good; happy are those who trust in him! Song for the Breaking of Bread: Lamb of God
Presider: The gifts of God for the people of God. People: Thanks be to God. The Communion All who are baptized are welcome to receive the sacrament of communion in the Anglican Church; those who are not yet baptized are encouraged to come forward to the altar for a blessing – simply fold your arms across your chest as an indication of your desire for a blessing. This invitation is extended to all – children and infants included. Music During Communion: Hymn # 48 Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence Let all mortal flesh keep silence, and with fear and trembling stand; ponder nothing earthly-minded, for, with blessing in his hand, Christ our God to us approacheth, our full homage to demand. King of kings, yet born of Mary, as of old on earth he stood, Lord of lords, in human vesture, in the body and the blood, he will give to all the faithful his own self for heavenly food. Rank on rank the host of heaven spreads its vanguard on the way, as the Light of light descended from the realms of endless day, that the powers of hell may vanish as the darkness clears away. At his feet the six-winged seraph, cherubim with sleepless eye veil their faces to the presence, as with ceaseless voice they cry, "Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, Lord most high!" Anthem: Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God Prayer After Communion PLEASE STAND AS YOU ARE ABLE

Doxology Presider: Glory to God, All: whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God from generation to generation, in the church and in Christ Jesus, for ever and ever. Amen. The Blessing I Remember Recessional Hymn # 455 Dear God, Compassionate and Kind Dear God, compassionate and kind, forgive our foolish ways. Reclothe us in our rightful mind, in purer lives thy service find, In deeper reverence, praise, in deeper reverence, praise. In simple trust like theirs who heard, beside the Syrian sea, The gracious calling of the Lord, let us, like them, without a word, Rise up and follow thee, rise up and follow thee! O Sabbath rest by Galilee! O calm of hills above, Where Jesus knelt to share with thee the silence of eternity Interpreted by love, interpreted by love! Drop thy still dews of quietness till all our strivings cease; Take from our souls the strain and stress, and let our ordered lives confess The beauty of thy peace, the beauty of thy peace. Breathe through the heats of our desire thy coolness and thy balm; Let sense be dumb, let flesh retire; speak through the earthquake, wind, and fire, O still small voice of calm, O still small voice of calm. Dismissal Presider: Go in peace to love and serve the Lord. People: Thanks be to God. Postlude: POSTLUDE
