After researching the Swarovski brand, me and Baljeet found that the brief set was already being answered by recently launched Swarovski sub-brand, Lola & Grace. We both decided it would be best to move away from Swarovski and focus on promoting Lola & Grace.

We decided to focus on producing a range of limited edition packaging to promote the new brand, which was to reflect the style of the jewellery itself. Through working with Sinead we also proposed the idea of having a clothing line to accompany and boost the brand.

Together we experimented with various types of packaging and different nets. We decided to go for a simple cube shaped box, which is ideal for rings but could also be used for other types of jewellery. Featuring an angled lid, which reveals the pattern inside. Accompanied by a basic bag net to contain the box when packaged in shops.

Nets for the base, lid and inside section needed to be produced, along with the nets to coat the boxes with white or patterned stock to give a nicer, more professional finish.

The patterns used within the gift bag and box design were influenced by the jewellery itself, incorporating the colour schemes used and current fashion trends. The target market we were trying to attract was also taken into consideration.

They were originally vectored patterns, which didn’t reflect the style that me and Baljeet were trying to achieve. So instead we went for a more hand rendered approach using watercolour. We used four repeat patterns, two designed by each of us and applied them to the packaging.

To boost and compliment the brand we proposed that Lola & Grace should collaborate with a fashion label. We worked alongside Sinead O’Herlihy to illustrate how this would benefit Lola & Grace.

We redesigned the logo, merging Lola & Grace and House of Herlihy together. Photographing the clothing and jewellery lines together demonstrates how this merging of brands would give a more sophisticated and less tacky feel.

To put our idea to collaborate with a fashion label into context, we designed a shop front. We tried to incorporate images of both the jewellery and clothing line. Although we have used House of Herlihy as an example, this merging of two brands could work with a number of fashion labels.

We both came up with our individual shop front designs and then came together to merge the most appropriate aspects of both our designs.
