The FESTTAGE festival was launched by Daniel Barenboim twenty years ago, and every Easter it has attracted large audiences to the Staatsoper and the Philharmonie — guests from Berlin, from Germany and from all over the world . The FESTTAGE have become a festival of enormous appeal, thanks to the extraordinary artistic quality of the events and performances, the top artists on the opera stage and in the concert halls, and finally, thanks to the ingenious way the program is composed and the pieces refer to and enrich each other. FESTTAGE 2016 will be presenting an exciting contrast in the form of two major works from opera history — namely the new production of Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice and the restaging of Wagner’s Parsifal. The five FESTTAGE concerts cover the period from Bach to the great symphonies of late Romanticism. Martha Argerich, Yo-Yo Ma and Jonas Kaufmann are the brilliant soloist we will be going to hear.
