09.07.2014 Ypres On Wednesday 9 July 2014 it will finally happen: the 5th leg of the Tour de France, Ypres - Arenberg, departs from Ypres with the Cloth Halls in the background. The city does not want to just let that start pass by. It therefore promises to turn the event into a spectacular free sport and family event in which we want to involve as many people as possible. On Wednesday 9 July there will be a huge popular festival with plenty of fringe entertainment on and around the Market Square. The informal start will take place at the entrance of the Rijselstraat, after which the racers will ride via the Rijselpoort and the South circular towards the Steverlyncklaan. The official start of the 5th leg is at 2 pm, at the French military cemetery Saint-Charles de Potyze. The complete programme and information on car parks and shuttle services will be published on 5 May 2014. A special brochure will then also be available from the communication department or the tourism department. After the start they follow Menin Gate - Menenstraat - Market Square - Rijselstraat. The PPO (“Point de Passage Obligatoire”) is at the A19, exit 5. The “point de répartition” (division point) is: junction Kalfvaart - Basculestraat .
