jenny gumbert I recently had to go through all of my possessions and really ask myself what I needed and what was extraneous. It’s hard to get rid of items, as truly meaningless as they may be, and to let go. The same excuses always go through your head: “I may use this one day!” or “But this reminds me of the time when...” Sometimes it’s the things that hold the most sentimental value that are the hardest to get rid of. My personal weakness is magazines. Before websites like Pinterest, they were my primary source of inspiration, and still are very important to me today. I collect them like books, with a small library

of my favorites. I mentioned last week that I already have too many books on my shelves, so I’ve been looking for a good place to store my mags and other knick-knacks. I believe that I have found the solution: baskets. I tend to have a very simple, modern design style, so finding accessories with a more natural feel is important to keep things from looking too stark. I believe that a good array of woven baskets is the answer to my storage quandary. These handwoven baskets (above) would be a great place to throw a couple of magazines or to use as a centerpiece on a coffee table.

4 1. Colorblock Utility Basket from Terrain, $118 - I love the subtle colorblocking of this simple basket. 2. Pistachio, Sky Blue and Lilac Basket from Milagros, ÂŁ18.00 - This is a great way to add both storage and a pop of color to your living space. 3. Forest Basket from Animi Causa, $39.99 - I love how the pattern on this piece brings a little visual interest but the muted color palette stops it from being overwhelming. 4. Restore Basket by Mika Tolvanen from Design Within Reach, $99 - Mix and match these felt baskets around your place or stack them to add some height to an empty corner. 5. Rope Basket from Brookfarm General Store, $165 - A perfectly classic storage piece.
