Let Them

Eat Cake jenny gumbert

Let’s all be honest with ourselves and admit that we really get excited for the holidays for one reason; it’s not the dinners, the decorations, or the presents (well, it’s the presents a little), it’s the dessert, or rather, the excuse to eat copious amounts of it. What other time of year do we get to eat so many sugary, fattening, tasty treats? Between the fetes and the feasts, there are a whole lot of culinary confections going on. I myself, am a pie gal. Throw a crust around something and I will eat it. Now that it’s November, it is officially the season o’ pie, so I am ready to stuff myself silly until I am full of sweets and regret. But first I must ready my kitchen with all of the items necessary to prepare this season’s sweets. I think I’ll start my confectionery adventure with this amazing tart from the awesome food blog My New Roots. Somebody stop me before my whole apartment is wall-to-wall with tarts and turnovers.

5 1. Tonic 02: Maple Syrup from Mikuni Wild Harvest, $24.95 - Maple syrup is a great replacement for sugar in desserts. This one has hints of Tahitian vanilla and chamomile, and would be great folded into some whipped cream to top your pumpkin pie. 2. Dessert Plate by Thomas Paul from Burke Decor, $8 each - The perfect platter for any delectable dessert. 3. Teak Measuring Spoons from Merchant No. 4, $20 - No more of those ugly white plastic spoons. Measure out your sugar and spices in style. 4. Pie Pan by Man Pans, $14.99 - I love pie. That is all. 5. Espresso Maker from Hammacher Schlemmer, $ $149.95 - The best accompaniment with a slice of something sweet? A hot shot of espresso.
