Wade Winalot to make personal appearance at Vacation Bible School of First Baptist Church in Humboldt Standard Publishing’s popular VBS game show host to engage children CINCINNATI — May 8, 2009 — Children of all ages will be craning their necks for a glimpse of him when the First Baptist Church in Humboldt, Tennessee welcomes him in person to their VBS in June. He’s Wade Winalot, the toothy game show host who sets the tone and exciting pace for Standard Publishing’s 2009 VBS program called Studio GO ! Game Show. He has been captivating audiences wherever he goes. Standard Publishing announced today that First Baptist is the winner of the “Win a Week with Wade” competition for its customers. He will participate and lead the game show activities each day at the church’s VBS being held June 9 -12. “We are excited to have Wade Winalot at our VBS this year,” said Jaclyn Scott, the church’s minister to families with preschoolers and children. “It will add much excitement to an already exhilarating VBS. “By having Wade Winalot it gives us an opportunity to build on his experience and knowledge of this VBS to make ours top notch and really reach out to the children of our community.” Wade will lead the children in each daily game that fits the day’s lesson, as they spin a wheel, select a box, or trade one mystery prize for another. For older, more experienced TV watchers, both Wade and the games evoke the atmosphere of game shows they may remember from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.
He’s been popular at each of the many live appearances he’s made since the theme was introduced last summer. And it’s probably safe to say he’s the first live VBS character to have his own Facebook page. “When we created Wade as one of three ‘human’ characters for our Studio GO ! Game Show VBS, we had no idea he would become so popular,” said Bob Wallace, Standard’s marketing manager for VBS.
“But children everywhere have been excited to play the games that add to the excitement of our VBS this year, games that include Bible content while making the competition and the experience a fun one,” he continued. “During VBS each day the children play against two other adult characters and they beat them, every time, but it’s Wade they really seem to get excited about.” The Wade phenomenon has been a bonus for Standard Publishing, an awardwinning powerhouse among VBS companies, known for its solid Bible content and depth of material. “The game show concept has been a great one, and it’s one that any church can do as the three adult characters are easy to cast and everyone has a great time while learning the Bible,” Wallace added.
