A shrill whistle pierced the early April morning. The dew on the Cedar Brook, Oklahoma, district soccer field had finally evaporated, but a low mist still hugged the tops of the nearby trees. Paul Stewart and the other Cedar Brook Saints crouched, ready to sprint to the opposite goal. The coach blew his whistle again, and Paul, along with his teammates, dashed down field. Paul’s brother Andy quickly outpaced everyone. Andy and Paul were twins, but no one ever believed it. Paul was short and thin, with dark, straight hair and dark olive skin. Andy was several inches taller, with curly red hair, light skin, and freckles. Broad and strong, most people thought Andy was at least two years older than Paul, rather than two minutes. He even had to shave already—not very often, but still. Paul checked the mirror every morning for signs of facial hair, but so far, nothing. The only thing they had in common was the same color eyes: almond brown.
