ST. ANDREW’S IS OPEN!

FALL SERMON SERIES l e a r n i n g t o li v e t h e way o f j e s u s T H E WAY | S E P T E M B E R 1 2 - O C T O B E R 2 5 What does it mean to follow in Jesus’s footsteps? Join us in our upcoming sermon series, “The Way,” as we learn to live like Jesus – growing, serving, discerning, being disciplined, and loving like him. Life is a series of steps we deliberately take. God wants us to move beyond where we stand today to prepare ourselves for whatever might be around the corner. As God reveals what the next adventure is, and as we prepare, we never forget who we belong to.

THIS VIRUS HASN’T SLOWED US DOWN, JUST BROUGHT US NEW OPPORTUNITIES. C H A P C L A R K | L E A D PA S T O R

Welcome to the fall season! We are so glad you are part of the wonderful church community here at St. Andrew’s, a vibrant congregation currently deployed in the service of Jesus Christ among one another and in our community and world. This virus hasn’t slowed us down, just brought us new opportunities. 2020 has been quite the rollercoaster of a year. But what matters is knowing that we have been through this season together. We are not alone. Our experience with church may have looked different than we are used to, but the fact remains that St. Andrew’s never closed its doors. We are grateful for you, and for your participation in furthering the ministry and mission of our church family. If you had a chance to read through our Summer 2020 issue of Table Magazine, you read some of the incredible stories from those within our own community, and the impact the ministries of St. Andrew’s have made, especially amidst a global pandemic.

And now as we enter the fall season, we are excited for the launch of many of our ministry initiatives, programs, and opportunities. Each season, we put out a publication that helps you walk through all the ministry opportunities you don’t want to miss! I hope you’ll take the time to browse through all that is happening this season at St. Andrew’s, and take steps in our journey that the Holy Spirit can use to transform us. We are launching a sermon series called “The Way” on September 12/13 where we will explore what it means to live like Jesus, walking together. Preparation and faithfulness are central tasks of every disciple, and we are called to prepare for whatever is in store for us around every corner. As God reveals what the next adventure is, and as we prepare, we never forget who we belong to. Join me in looking forward to what God will do as we continue to follow him as we walk in step together. We’re grateful for you, we’re here for one another, and we can’t wait for what God has in store for us around the corner! In Christ, Chap Clark Pastor, Head of Staff

A N U P D AT E R E G A R D I N G O U R V E RY O W N J O N B ATA R S E We are excited to announce what Jon Batarse, our Executive Director, has been working on for the past year. It is an opportunity that our denomination, Evangelical Covenant Order of Presbyterians (ECO), has been offering for a few years that provides training for ordained lay leaders to serve in congregations. Jon has been on staff at St. Andrew’s for over 13 years, and this past year has given himself to this rigorous theological, educational, and leadership training program. In August, our Session unanimously approved and commissioned Jon as a Certified Lay Pastor serving at St. Andrew’s. We are pleased to announce that Jon Batarse is now our Executive Pastor!

Times are tough, and these quarantine months haven’t made it any easier. Loneliness, financial stress, grief, confusion, and anxiety can strike any of us at any moment. That’s why God made Deacons! Deacons are members of the church, just like you and me, but they have a special calling and training to walk alongside you during hard times. Here at St. Andrew’s we have an exceptional group of Deacons, men and women, who have been set aside for this special task. If you are hurting, don’t hesitate to contact one of the pastors or email Tracy Murphy at tracym@sapres.org and a deacon will be in touch with you.
