SERMON SERIES JANUARY 4 - FEBRUARY 23

Welcome to St. Andrew’s! I’m Chap Clark, and as the Lead Pastor of this tremendous church, we are so glad that you’ve picked up a copy of our latest Winter Brochure. This publication has all the information for what is happening at St. Andrew’s through Easter 2020. Our hope is that you would take some time to navigate through this informational piece and explore all the ways in which you are invited to connect with God and with one another, and to be nurtured and empowered to know, trust, love and follow Jesus Christ. St. Andrew’s is a Neighborhood Church with Global Impact. We don’t exist for ourselves – we’re in this together! If you were with us in 2019, you know that we saw some amazing things happen in the life of our church. First, in the fall, we created a new time between Sunday services called the GAP, giving space for our community to spend time and fellowship with one another on our campus. Later in the fall, we invited our community to a Trunk or Treat family event, opening the door to roughly 1000 people on our church campus celebrating the season together. During the Christmas season, we held our annual Christmas Concerts, a special Christmas Tree Lighting Spectacular and, of course, our Christmas Eve services, bringing thousands of people from our community together for a time of worship and celebration. In December 2019 we also kicked off what we call “Connect 5/2,” which means that if you are new to exploring church, our hope is that you would attend for five weeks in a row, and have two meaningful conversations with others. We believe that this experience will give you the opportunity to get to know us up close and personal. If St. Andrew’s is your home, join us in having an inviting presence to all those checking us out. The new year is a perfect time! We are kicking off our new sermon series, “Walk in the Light,” where we explore the joy and adventure of following Christ together. And, don’t forget, the centerpiece to this series, Philip Yancey, joins us on January 18/19 (bring your Philip Yancey book, as he will hold book signings after each service). 2020 is sure to be a memorable year together, and we can’t wait to see what God has in store for us and for our entire community.

CHAP CLARK, LEAD PASTOR On Behalf of the St. Andrew’s Staff

JOSIAH + ANNIE SALI Associates

A step of faith >>

Ever since we got married, Josiah and I had known in the back of our minds that we wouldn’t stay in Moorhead, Minnesota forever. We didn’t know where we were called or when, but we both felt a call to get out of the comfortable bubble that we lived in. We had a wonderful community and were attending and serving at the church that Josiah’s dad had pastored for 25 years. We knew, however, that God had something else for us. When we heard about the St. Andrew’s Leadership Institute, we felt this could be something that God had put on our radar, and so we started pursuing the option. We didn’t know if this was where God was directing us, but we kept taking steps forward, looking for red lights. God solidified this calling in our lives as he opened doors and gave us a passion and a

peace about the move.

12

Now that we’ve been out here a few months, we are both settling into our jobs and are able to call this our home. I, Annie, have had the privilege of working with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), assigned to Newport Harbor High School and Ensign

Intermediate School. It is so fun to see how God is moving on these campuses, as we have student leaders excited to share their faith on a public campus and we have consistent numbers of students coming to our multi-sport huddles. Josiah is working in the Family Ministries department here at St. Andrew’s under Scott Cody, and he has absolutely loved it as well. He has been able to learn so much about how to do ministry for different age groups, and put his gifts to work through speaking, relational ministry, and planning events. One thing that we have been able to do this year is ministry together, despite the fact that we work at different places. One huge reason that we have been able to do this is St. Andrew’s focus on being a neighborhood church. Since St. Andrew’s opens up their campus to high school and

We are incredibly grateful for the emphasis that St. Andrew’s puts on being a safe place for these students who so desperately need the Lord. Along with the hands-on experience we get from our jobs, it has been such a blessing to have wise leaders pouring into us and empowering us to be who God made us to be. On Fridays, we take leadership classes and have had so many people

ORANGE COUNTY AMAZING GRACE Mondays + Tuesdays | 10:30 a.m. | Various locations

The mission of OCAGM is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to bring the love, hope, joy, peace, comfort, encouragement, and fellowship of God to the forgotten residents of nursing homes. We serve a myriad of nursing homes all over Orange County every day of the week, all year long. This ministry engages residents through Bible study, prayer, worship, and visits to individuals that are often too weak or frail to attend a church service.
