Mrs. Ramon’s grade 8 history class recently teamed up with Dr. Hayter, SAC Archivist, to explore the lives of some of the 104 young Andreans who died in the First World War. The students used the School’s archives to investigate each fallen Andrean’s life at SAC and in the military. The end result was a ‘trading card’ for each fallen Andrean, some of which are displayed here. The boys thoroughly enjoyed delving into the lives of their fellow Andreans and discovered that there were many similarities: one hundred years ago, SAC students played hockey and football, became prefects, came from faraway places, and, occasionally, got into trouble. The main difference is, of course, that we hope our current students will never experience the horrors of war. Let us continue to remember and honour each and every Andrean who fought for their country and especially those who were never to return.
