Dedication We, the members of the 1959-60 PEER Staff, dedicate with gratitude this annual to MRS, STACY JACKSON for her untiring work in helping to raise the cultural standards and individual creations at Albemarle. A giver of wise council, Mrs. Jackson has achieved a relationship and understanding with all that has placed her among Albemarle's best loved teachers. She has built up the drama department into one of the finest in the area and is known throughout the state for the high dramatic caliber of her plays. Her students are first in her thoughts; perhaps that is why working and learning is easy under Mrs. Stacy Jackson •

3

Foreword A school is not only an institution of learning but also a place of scholarship in路 understanding and appreciating people. The best way to comprehend a person is to 11 get to know him. 11 In the forthcoming pages of this annual we have tried to acquaint you with Albemarle High School, her students, clubs, sports, and her character.

Finale When the players don. their mortar board, the drama is drawing to a close. Symbol of their achievement, this play, Onward Patroits, distinguishes the senior from the other members of the cast. Graduation is the time for evaluation and for the resolution to use the knowledge, moral courage, and ideals which stand to improve the world beyond the gates of the high school and the drama of which they have been a part. The play ending, they step into the world with faith, and await the verdict of the critics. More important than ;the opinion of others is their own evaluation of their worth as an individual in a world where they may be called upon to be a leader or an intelligent follower, striving always to make this life of progress toward the shared ideals of others of their generation who, like them, have taken part in such a drama. In academic cap and gown they take their bows humbly and part the curtain of a new life.
