A Word from the Mayor

It is a pleasure to serve the city of Albany as mayor. Being part of a community with such wonderful people, businesses and schools makes Albany a great place to live, work and raise a family. We were able to complete our utility and street reconstruction improvements on Seventh Street and Eighth Street including areas on Midland Avenue, Forest Avenue and Lake Avenue last summer. Thanks to all of you for your patience and support through these projects. As always, the weather plays a large part, and last summer’s weather made it challenging. We also installed new decorative street lights on Railroad Avenue from First Street to 200 feet east of Countryside Lane adjacent to the new CentraCare clinic completing our downtown corridor. We have received many compliments about how wonderful our downtown looks. The council is proud of what has been accomplished along our Main Street. This summer, our capital improvement plans are to replace utilities and streets on Eighth Street from Midland Avenue to Aliva Avenue. Also, Albany Avenue will be reconstructed with a new bituminous surface and will not include any utility replacement. The council is still reviewing options with the Minnesota Department of Transportation regarding a possible design for the intersection of Railroad Avenue and First Street (T.H. #238). The council welcomes Aaron Kleinschmidt as the new general manager at the Albany Golf Club. He started his new position last June and is a great addition to the club. He is doing a great job and is looking forward to a new golf
