Tell us about your FFA program and your involvement in it: Having a dad as an ag teacher (and my FFA advisor), I’ve grown up going to FFA events and community service events. We helped with pumpkin carving and ditch clean-up when we weren’t in FFA, in elementary and middle school.

FFA has always been a huge part of my life because of my dad. When I joined, it was a natural transition. I was showing chickens through 4-H and then my first Career Development Event was poultry judging. It wasn’t common to have eighth graders because I was in junior high school, but we went on to place second, third and fourth at state. I did leadership development events, went to nationals for creed speaking; I did an agriculture communications CDE and went to nationals. I participated in farm bureau discussion and was very involved. I had a supervised agricultural experience with a vegetable production placement so I was in charge of the schools’ vegetable garden and high tunnel.
Unstoppable machine. Unbeatable offer.
What skills did you learn in your time with FFA? How to be able to lead a team but also be a team player and understand it’s OK to take a step back and listen. FFA really helped me sharpen my communication skills, not only public speaking and giving presentations, but how to go about interpersonal communication, talking and having conversations with one another – specifically those who have different views from you. It also helped me determine where I wanted to go when I went to college and what degree I wanted to get. I wanted to work in a healthcare setting but also stay true to my agricultural roots; nutrition was the perfect combination for me. ZD
Overall, what is the greatest benefit you received from being involved in FFA? The lifelong connection with people and the experiences and opportunities you have through FFA. I have friends across the country, I have a network of my peers as well as professional connections.

What other hobbies and interests do you have outside of FFA? I really like to be outside. My roommates and I have a dog so we spend a lot of time outside with the dog. I like exploring new coffee shops throughout the cities and I really like to read and bake.
equipped with efficient deck technology, hands-free hydraulic deck lift, and durable drive shaft transmission.
What are your plans for the future? I’m planning to go to graduate school for nutrition to become a registered dietician. Hopefully, I’ll be working in pediatric nutrition or eating disorders. I have been accepted into two different graduate schools but I haven’t decided which to attend.
