Mayor Villarreal lauded Mr. Klein’s thorough knowledge of public water matters. RGC High School Head Football Coach Aaron Garcia, Rattlers Quarterback Jason Perez, and Mr. Xavier Perez, Jason’s father, were the special guests this month. Coach Garcia stated that he is optimistic about the Rattlers for the coming year. He stressed that he is always striving for improvement on his players. Daniel "Scoop" Solis Jr. June 15, 1994 † July 23, 2016

You never said “I’m leaving”, you never said goodbye, you were gone before I knew it and only God knew why. A million times I needed you, a million times I cried, if love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. In life I loved you dearly, in death I love you still. In my heart you hold a place that no one could ever ill, but... God.

NOVENA “Miraculous Prayer” Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus, in the past I have asked for favors. This time I ask you this very special one (mention favor). Take it, Dear Jesus, and place it within your own heart, where your Father sees it. Then, in your merciful eyes it will become your favor, not mine. Amen. Say this prayer for three days, promise publication and favor will be granted. Never known to fail.

“La Onza”

It has been two year since you went home to be with our Lord. It broke our hearts to lose you. But you didn’t go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home. We often sit and think of you and think of how you died, to think We couldn’t say good-bye before you closed your eyes. We suffer so much sorrow, and its neverending grief, which we must bear, until I breathe my last farewell and inally meet you there. We Always Miss You

Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free, I took his hand when I heard Him call. If my parting has left a void, then ill it with remembered joy. My life’s been full, I savored much: good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch, friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me... God wanted me now, He set me free. Dear Friends and Family, Your kind and thoughtful expression of sympathy was deeply appreciated and gratefully acknowledged. We are so thankful for the years illed with laughter and love that we had and enjoyed with him. He impacted many lives and was loved by many and will be missed by us and everyone that knew him. PRAYER TO ST. JUDE

First Anniversary Mass

The Pope Family

Most holy apostle, St. Jude Thaddeus, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered the beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many, but the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases, of things despaired of. Pray for me; make use I implore you, of that particular privilege accorded to you to bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly (here make your request) and that I may praise God with you and all the elect forever, I promise. O blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, to always honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you. Amen.

July is the last month South Texas College will be offering a free GED program created to ensure students have the best chance possible to earn their diploma for a better future. As a result of a grant given by the Texas Workforce Commission, students have the opportunity to receive their GED while also receiving support in the form of a gasoline stipend and materials for school. Gallegos, Community Outreach and recruiter with STC Continuing Professional and Workforce Education (CPWE). “After this month, we won’t be offering everything we are offering right now including FREE gas allowance, GED courses, and testing fees as well as a chance to win a backpack loaded with cool STC gear. After July, we will have already filled all the spots available.”CPWE will be conducting a free orientation for students every Tuesday and Wednesday in July at STC’s Technology Campus located at 3700 W. Military Hwy in McAllen from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Prospective students need to make sure they are at least 18 years of age and have a valid I.D. and social security card.

SUDOKU - Fun By The Numbers Like puzzles? Then you’ll love sudoku. This mind-bending puzzle will have you hooked from the moment you square off, so sharpen your pencil and put your sudoku savvy to the test! Here’s How It Works: Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku,

the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle! It’s impossible not to like a scaled quail; they have so many attractive characteristics. They’re a common sight here in the thorny brush wilderness. During most of the year you’ll find them in coveys of a half dozen to 30 or more. There are reports of coveys of as many as 150 birds. During breeding season, in late spring and early summer, you’ll find them only in pairs. The nest is a shallow depression

Scaled quails are very popular and abundant

on the ground next to a tall tuft of grass or under a shrub. It’s lightly lined with some leaves of grass and perhaps a few feathers. The female quail lays about a dozen eggs and does the incubating which takes about three weeks. The eggs are cream to light buff colored and typically covered with small brown dots. The male hangs around and then helps care for the young after they hatch. The family stays together and eventually joins a covey.

Apparently, the abundance of these birds is closely tied to moisture. They’re most common where there’s a stable source of drinking water and least common during drought periods or when there are very heavy rains. Presumably the nests on the ground can be easily flooded and the eggs damaged. One way to attract them is to provide a birdbath or a watering tray on the ground. Scattering some henscratch or wildbird seed on the ground is also helpful although you’ll attract other birds and critters as well. I do both and get rabbits, ground-squirrels, armadillos, toads, snakes, many other birds including bob-whites, and up to 25 scaled quail at a time. Scaled quail are also called cotton-tops or blue quail because of their plumage. The cotton-top name comes from the fact that both sexes sport a tuft of feathers on the top of the head with the tip

Scaled quails are about 9 inches in length and are hunted as game birds. A typical adult weighs about 6 or 7 ounces. Aside from their attractive appearance and status as a game bird, they’re also beneficial because their diet consists of weed seeds and insects. About a third of their diet is insects. Their range includes the Rio being white. The males have noticeably larger white topknots Grande Valley, west Texas, New and their bellies are a deep chestnut-brown. The blue quail name comes from the bluish-gray coloration of the breast feathers. The name scaled quail is derived from the fact that the feathers on the breast and belly each have a thin black edge whichmakes it look as though the bird has scales like a fish.

Mexico and most of Mexico. If you’re out for a walk-a-bout in the thorn scrub, look for scaled quail on the ground for they prefer to walk and scamper about rather than to fly. With their distinctive and attractive plumage, beneficial diet and close family ties, they’ll quickly become one of your favorite birds, if they aren’t already.
