Discover the timeless values of honesty, industry, and caring by creating character both on the stage and in the students. Independence! Join us on an interactive journey of how our country came to be. Get right inside the events surrounding the Declaration of Independence and connect with the people who made it all possible.
This all-day Arts extravaganza immerses students in all four Arts disciplines. The theme can be integrated into science, social studies, or literary subjects and can include a culminating performance at the end of the day. • Great option for the days before holidays, breaks, or summer • California Content Standards-based • Example themes could include Mythology, Gold Rush, Missions, California History, Physical Fitness, Oceans, or Animals

Choir: Rocking Robins Grades K-2 Super Songbirds Grades 3-6 Students learn a variety of songs ending with a choir concert. Introduction to Instrumental Music Grades 3-6 Students gain experience on their recorder while developing music reading skills and playing as a group. Band Grades 3-6 Students learn to play numerous pieces of music on their instrument as well as how to play in a band as a whole. African Drumming & Movement Grades K-8 Come feel the rhythm as students dance and drum with original African percussion instruments.
In the Spotlight Grades K-2 Introduction to theatre, improvisation, & theatre games. Classes can either have an informal recital at the end or keep it in a workshop format. Theatre Production Grades 3-8 Students participate in either a play or musical production. Mulan, Annie, Willy Wonka, Aladdin, & School House Rock are just a few examples of our productions. Acting Explorers Grades 3-8 Journey through the world of acting while participating in theatre games, pantomime, and improvisation.

Jump In! Grades K-2 Primary students explore a variety of dance styles and creative movement to popular music. World Dance Grades K-8 Students experience a variety of cultural dance including Latin, Jazz, and Bollywood just to name a few. Pop Dance Grades 3-8 Learn choreography from your favorite TV, film and stage shows.
Authors & Illustrators Grades K-3 Illustrate popular favorites using mulitple art techniques. World Art Grades K-6 Take a journey around the world creating African masks, Asian ink paintings, and South American art just to name a few. Art Masters Grades K-6 Explore a different artist each week and create works based on the artist’s life or medium. Art At the Museum Grades K-6 Come travel to amazing museums. We will get to know famous artists and create a project each week based on their style or medium. Comic Book Studio Grades 2-6 Learn the basics of drawing expressions, creating characters, doing story boards and making a final cartoon strip. Cartooning-Fantasy Creatures Grades 4-8 Learn how to draw dragons, fairies, trolls and many other creatures. Ideal for anyone who enjoys the worlds of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Chronicles of Narnia.

Starting Arts offers a wide variety of original summer camps available to all ages including: • Musical Theater Camp - Students work intensively for 16 days on a full blown musical theater production. Previous productions include Oliver!, Bye Bye Birdie and Wizard of Oz. • The Feature Film Experience - Starting Arts and professional film production company, Dawnrunner Productions, collaborate with students ages 10-18 to produce a full length feature film. Last summer’s film, The Darkest Matter, has been invited to participate in film festivals worldwide. • Jr. Performance Camp - Students grades K to 3 put together a short performance while learning basic performance skills. Starting Arts and Dawnrunner Productions provide students with a year long, hands-on film making experience which is split into four parts. Films are taught and produced by trained film professionals James Fox, Owner/Director, and Geoff Peck, Director of Photography, Dawnrunner Productions. The goal of this program is to educate students in advanced filmmaking techniques and on-camera acting by creating feature length film.
