OVERVIEW On November 21st, Startup Canada is hosting the first-ever Startup Canada Day on the Hill, which will bring together the largest contingent of Canadian entrepreneurs to ever come to Parliament Hill, with the nation’s elected representatives. Startup Canada Day on the Hill is hosted in partnership with Minister of State for Small Business, The Honorable Maxime Bernier, drawing together more than 800 attendees throughout the day; including Ministers, Members of Parliament, Senators, entrepreneurs, business leaders and media to introduce government leaders to the Canadian entrepreneurship community and to further the conversation about the role of government in advancing the Canadian entrepreneurship culture and ecosystem in Canada. This will be a spectacular day filled with VIP gatherings, keynote panels and a major reception featuring the ‘who’s who’ of Canadian entrepreneurship.
ABOUT STARTUP CANADA STRENGTHENING CANADA’S ENTREPRENEURSHIP CULTURE & ECOSYSTEM Startup Canada has come a long way since launching in May 2012 as a fully volunteer-run, grassroots entrepreneurship movement. • • • • • • •
Startup Canada launched in May 2012 and today it is one of Canada’s most followed and active national entrepreneurship organizations. Startup Canada is not for profit, independent and inclusive of all entrepreneurs and those who support them, with more than 400 partner organizations and 55,000 entrepreneurs part of our network. Startup Canada has programs nationally and in 15 communities to give entrepreneurs the tools and networks that they need to take their venture to the next level. Startup Canada is the catalyst for mainstream campaigns to celebrate and tell the story of Canadian entrepreneurs and is the host of the Canadian Mentorship Challenge, which mentors 10,000 entrepreneurs annually. Startup Canada collaborates with entrepreneurs and their communities to create and implement a long-term plan for improving their entrepreneurship ecosystem. Startup Canada represents Canada’s entrepreneurs on the world stage through the G8, World Economic Forum and the Startup Nations. Our work impacts the success of entrepreneurs from coast to coast.
