which started with the study of multiplication in fashion and designer Paco Rabanne, under t h e m e n t o r s h i p o f d o c . m r . a r t . J a s m i n k a K o n či ć. T h e idea

is to create a collection of clothes made of wooden materials, using the same concept ofmultiplication in the work of Paco Rabanne. Creating a collection is a key of fashion creativity, that is constantly seeking new directions andways of expression. So the wood, as a material for making garments, is hard to imagine. The very thoughts of garments made of wood infusesa certain amount of scepticism, but the process itself, the ideas and the course of making such a collection is very much possible. Because ofits structure, wood acts as a material that is challenging because of the structural characteristics, a bit complicated, but at the same timecombines carpentry skills and fashion design skills which pushes the boundaries of fashion creation. In this theme are shown theoreticallevel of importance the theme itself, as well as the process of making the collection and the final result - the very collection. To design the collection of wooden materials on an example of multiplication in the work of Paco Rabanne, is a process that requires priorknowledge of the designer and the materials used. The main material of the collection are individual pieces of bamboo, made in to identicaltiles that are connected together with metal rings to form the garment. The tiles are reusable and can create many different variations of stylesand sizes, by changing the arrangement of tiles. Wood as a material is not used too often in the fashion industry and the challenge for the designeris to make an uncommon garment attractive to the consumer. As bamboo is a organic material, it can be produced widely with little tozero effect on the earth resources, and can save money on such as electricity and manufacturing. Only needing soil, the sun and water to producethe raw material, the bamboo plant. Within this collection you have to widely contrasting materials. On one side you have Bamboo, which an organic and natural material, with a couture appearance to it. But on the other side of the collection there is a man made materials thatis highly manufactured and ready wear. The contrast in materials used was a major influence and source of inspiration behind this design andproducing this collection. The collection consists of five models, four are upper garments made of bamboo tiles while the rest is made of neoprene, scuba, polyester and microfiber fabrics. The fabrics are dominated by shades of gray and blue.

Work process: Idea started with the study of multiplication in fashion and designer Paco Rabanne who first started to work with innovative materials like plastic and metal. Instead plastic and metal I gave something unique to my collection and that s BAMBOO, the light wood and bright colour. Joining bamboo tiles we are getting multiplication and volume, all tiles are connected with wire ( metal rings). Four pieces are made of bamboo tiles and the rest of collection is made of scuba, mesh and microfiber. In collection we have 10 styles, colours are blue and gray plus bamboo colour what stands out. Collection is very sculptural and minimal with clean lines.

Cuts are simple and straight, especially on a tailored and oversized coats that was inspired by Asian kimono in modern style, while effective handmade accessories is made of bamboo, that bring back again the Asian appearance. The decorative seams are making every piece of the garments unique and different. Geometry, superb cuts and retro romance gives a feminine touch that we can see in pencil skirts and wrap dresses. Velvet is a major fabric, adding a retro touch that also takes a romantic turn in the velvet lace cropped tops and bodies. A combination of cotton and polyester creates a fluid texture for the shirts and trousers. The neutrals black and grey colours, combined with darker hues of red and green, bring a sense of mystery and sophistication. The campaign was shot in Berlin with excellent photographer Suzana Holtgrave. The campaign and video are minimal, with clean lines and urban. The model Maria Buzak has a very pale face and gold hair, in order to emphasize clothes. While the lookbook was shot in London with young photographer Michelle Servan and the mdel was beautiful and unique Felicity Taylor. As

EQUALITY SS19

Two

young women from different cultural backgrounds meeting in the diverse city of London and finding themselves embracing fashion from different perspectives. I was born and raised in Croatia and moved to London three years ago to continue my studies and pursue a career in fashion and Mariam has moved to London from Iraq 23 years ago.

We met in 2016 when she needed an outfit for a private event and wanted me to help her design something which was modest but still trendy and chic. This inspired me to explore Middle Eastern fashion and the influence religion has on it. Finding ourselves liking similar styles but styling them individually led us to collaborate on the EQUALITY SS19 collection. This collection is influenced by urban architecture and the multi cultural city of London whilst largely shaped by modest culture, offering all women the chance to express themselves through fashion. With fast fashion focusing on speed and inexpensive designs, the choice of textiles and manufacturing implemented by STASA designs focuses primarily on sustainability and environmentally friendly designs. The collection consists of 40 pieces of clothing made from carefully chosen breathable fabrics including bamboo, bamboo silk, polyester and cotton. These items are available in sizes XS to XL embracing women of all ages and sizes. Styles include dresses, kaftans, kimonos, trousers, skirts and jackets. Much attention was paid to detailing and design, emphasising elegance with minimalism. A recurring theme of pleats runs through our collection, these were handmade in a small factory in the heart of London. Simple but extravagant, our long black dress is made with 8 metres of pleated fabric to give it some volume and movement alongside making it feel light and flowy. Similarly, our skirts and trousers contain panels and pleats providing a simple yet unique feminine touch. The trench coats and jackets are timeless and classic designed with sleeve straps to allow adjustable length. A couple of pieces from this collection were designed with additional buttons allowing the attachment or removal of sleeves catering for different events and atmospheres. Two skirts belonging to this collection can be worn in combination or individually. Choosing to name this collection 'Equality' gives women access to the modern world of fashion regardless of age, size, race or religion blurring the divide between lifestyles and culture. We aim to embrace women by making this collection fair and equal. We would like to give thanks to the team that helped us achieve our vision. Diversus collection

A/W

2020

AUTUMN/WINTER 20 COLLECTION / DIVERSUS The

Diversus collection continues the exploration of bamboo, sustainability in fashion and equality. From the very beginning, the idea was to combine natural and recycled materials with bamboo as wood. I love to reconcile and harmonize differences, I am sensitive to different ones from women of different constituencies, years, through people of different religious and cultures to people with disabilities, therefore it is the logical name to call collection "Diversus" (Eng. diversity). Sta a Randall The colour palette ranges from earthy darker colours such as navy blue, black, camel, khaki and grey all the way to white that refreshes, and an indispensable part of STA A designs with bamboo, which has an intriguing beauty, texture and colour. Diversus is an evolution from pervious collections – with a focus on elaborated colours and cuts. The structure of the material is important to me and I am extremely careful about their selection, so I use natural cotton, wool, hemp, bamboo and recycled polyester with a viscose mixture. Sta a Randall The entire collection consists 14 stylings, starting from minimalist/oversized coats and jackets, dresses with fits that follow the body lines, straight cut trousers with detailed seams, and low shoulder/oversized blouses these, just some of the striking pieces from the innovative Diversus collection.
