Tessera on Lake Travis Kicks Off Home Tour with Game Day Fun

By Shari Berg SPECIAL TO STATESMAN HOMES

Nestled on the North Shore of Lake Travis in Lago Vista is Tessera on Lake Travis, a new 875acre master-planned community that offers an oasis of outdoor recreation, blending unmatched natural beauty with the convenience of city living. Tessera on Lake Travis is proud to be the first community featured in the Austin American Statesman Take Me Home Tour on Sept. 19-20 and Sept. 26-27. On Saturday, Tessera on Lake Travis will kick off the tour with a Game Day event from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., featuring tours of its gorgeous Highland Homes and Wilshire Homes models and available homes from the upper $200,000s, as well as stadium cuisine, beverages, sweet treats and a host of games, giveaways and prizes. Framed by Lake Travis to the south and the Balcones Canyonlands Wildlife Refuge to the west and north, Tessera on Lake Travis offers a unique and vibrant outdoor-centric vibe. Unlike any other master-planned community, Tessera on Lake Travis offers its residents a host of amenities that focus on nature – hiking, biking, jogging – while being within one of Austin’s most sought-after school districts and minutes from key employment centers and retail destinations located in northwest Austin. Tessera on Lake Travis residents are served by

the highly acclaimed Lago Vista Independent School District. At Lago Vista ISD, outstanding performance in the classroom is coupled by exceptional achievement on the playing field and in extracurricular activities. In Phase I of the community, residents will be able to enjoy miles of dedicated trails, with more being planned as part of future expansion. If nature is your calling, you’ll find ample opportunities to connect with the outdoors just minutes away within the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge. Golf lovers can indulge their passion at the nearby Highland Lakes and Lago Vista golf courses, which provides a worthy challenge that is complemented by breathtaking scenery at each and every hole. Wine lovers will be pleased with Tessera on Lake Travis’ proximity to Flat Creek Estate, where

vineyard tours and wine tastings are offered. Family-friendly amenities also can be found at Tessera on Lake Travis, including a community pool and pavilion. Overlooking Lake Travis, the pool features an infinity-edge and patio, where adults can relax and socialize while children cool off on a hot day in the splash pool. Helping to fulfill the vision of Tessera on

Lake Travis are Highland Homes and Wilshire Homes. Both builders have proven track records for providing inspirational designs, incomparable quality and outstanding customer service. Understanding the importance of the community’s natural surroundings, Highland Homes and Wilshire Homes have created plans that reflect and connect with the Hill Country. Model homes are avail-

able to tour between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. Tessera on Lake Travis is a featured community that is owned and being developed by Hines. Hines is a privately owned global real estate investment firm founded in 1957, with locations in 185 cities in 19 countries. The firm has 104 developments currently underway around the

world. Historically, Hines has developed, redeveloped or acquired more than 1,000 properties, totaling over 339 million square feet consisting of office, retail, industrial, hotel, apartments and master-planned communities. To learn more about this growing community, visit www.tesseraonlaketravis.com or email tessera.onlaketravis@hines. com.

COMMUNITY PROFILE

Lago Vista offers comforts of home with resort-community amenities By Megan Mattingly-Arthur SPECIAL TO STATESMAN HOMES

Situated just 20 miles northwest of Austin – on the north shore of gorgeous Lake Travis – Lago Vista is a small city in Travis County that provides the perfect setting for a home. First developed in the 1960s as a lake resort community, Lago Vista, which will be a featured community on the Take Me Home Tour, now has more than 6,400 full-time residents, according to a 2013 estimate from the U.S. Census Bureau. Why we love Lago Vista The city is a tight-knit community near Austin's shopping and dining scene, but its abundance of camping, water sports and other recreational facilities puts it over the top. Golf enthusiasts can hit the links on either of the area's two popular golf courses. Located at 20552 Highland Lake Drive, the Highland Lakes Golf Course offers 36 holes, as well as plenty of breathtaking scenery to enjoy during the round. The Lago Vista Golf Course, located at 4616 Rimrock Drive, is a par 72, 18-hole championship golf course that offers more than 6,500 yards of challenging play. The course has spectacular Lake Travis views, an excellent practice facility and four sets of tees to challenge players of all ability levels. For those who are also love tennis, the Lago Vista Golf Course also has excellent facilities. Local events Lago Vista also hosts several annual community events that are popular with both residents and visitors. The Lago Vista and Jonestown Area Chamber of Commerce, and Convention and Visitors Bureau hosts its annual golf tournament each October, which encourages residents to play against chamber members. The chamber also hosts a popular “Casino Nite” event each January. In March, the neighboring community of Jonestown hosts its annual Cajun

Cook-Off, drawing visitors from all over the Texas Hill Country who come to enjoy the event's amazing food, music and activities. Lago Vista doesn't leave out its more fitness-conscious residents – each March, the area hosts the La Primavera Bike Race, which offers racing events for both adults and children. Meanwhile, wildlife-viewing enthusiasts can head to the beautiful Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge in nearby Marble Falls for a chance to take in the area's gorgeous natural beauty – and maybe even catch a glimpse of the endangered Golden-cheeked warbler and black-capped vireo, both of which nest in the area. For a chance to see a local working farm in action, consider visiting the Lazy Day Farm and Nursery at 18104 Sylvester Ford Road. The organic-certified farm specializes in fresh produce, as well as goat's milk, goat's cheese and organic eggs. Terrific schools, low taxes Lago Vista High School is located in Travis County on the north shore of Lake Travis and is part of the greater Austin metropolitan area. The district encompasses 35 square miles and serves the cities of Lago Vista, Point Venture and South Jonestown Hills. The schools are small and offer more

of a tight-knit feel than many large districts. For instance, there are only about 500 students enrolled in Lago Vista High School. Lago Vista is one of only a few school districts still offering an additional 20 percent homestead tax exemption, which provides homeowners with one of the lowest tax bills in the area. Dining and shopping Wondering where to eat during a visit to beautiful Lago Vista? The area has numerous locally owned, mom-and-popstyle restaurant options, offering everything from coffee and pastries, to burgers and barbecue, to pizza and even fine dining. The community offers a wide variety of lodging options to meet its visitors' needs – from small motels and RV parks to wellknown chain hotels and private vacation rentals. For a lake-resort vacation experience with all of the bells and whistles, look no further than the Hollows Resort. The 1,500-acre, master-planned community is surrounded by Lake Travis, and its exclusive Beach Club has activities to keep every member of the family occupied. In addition to exceptional access to the lake, the Hollows Resort Beach Club also features a great fitness center, infinity and children's swimming pools, hot tubs, a sand volleyball court and a large smoke-

house. Guests also can take advantage of hammocks; grills; 10 miles of paved hiking, biking and walking trails; and large grassy areas that are perfect for relaxation or playing games. The resort also includes private boat ramps and secure storage areas, as well as a full-service marina with a store, fuel dock and slips for overnight rental. Ski and pontoon-boat rentals are available at locations throughout the area. For more information on Lago Vista, contact Lago Vista City Hall at 512-2671155, email info@lago-vista.org or visit http://lagovistatexas.org. To learn more about visiting Lago Vista, contact the Lago Vista and Jonestown Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureau at 512-267-7952, email sandra@lagovista.org or visit www. lagovista.org. For additional information on vacation rentals on Lake Travis, visit www. laketravisvacationproperties.com/vacation-home-community.asp?CommunityID=1805. COMMUNITY PROFILE

Georgetown features small-town charm, big-city conveniences buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and it is particularly beautiful. “Our downtown is a very special place,” Sheldon said. “Georgetown is the county seat and the courthouse sits in the center of our downtown historic district. There's a lot of history.” Georgetown's downtown district isn't the only place residents and visitors can go to take in the city's rich history. The National Register of Historic Places also lists the Belford area, as well as the University Avenue and Elm Street areas, as historic districts. Additionally, Georgetown was the first city in Texas to receive the National Main Street City designation, due to its extensive preservation efforts. For more information on Georgetown, call the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce at 512-930-3535 or visit georgetownchamber.org.

By Megan Mattingly-Arthur SPECIAL TO STATESMAN HOMES

Georgetown is simply, well, lovely. Residents and visitors can stroll past some of the gorgeous restored Victorian homes or enjoy a walk along the San Gabriel River. The downtown area, with its Victorian-era storefronts and historic courthouse square, is truly charming. And in the spring and summer, the poppies and wild flowers are in bloom, and the city becomes garden-like.

Why we love Georgetown This friendly community is not only pretty, it's an easy commute into the city, has an array of shopping and dining options, plus great schools. The community, which is one of several on the Take Me Home Tour, not only boasts a tight-knit feel and low crime rate, its location on the northern edge of the metro area – on Interstate 35 and highways 130 and 29 – offers convenient access to Texas' major cities. Georgetown has a stellar reputation as a great place to live and the word is out. The city, which has more than 50,000 residents, has grown by 67 percent since the last U.S. Census, when it was recognized as the seventh fastest-growing, medium-sized city in the United States. Despite its growth, Georgetown residents are determined to maintain the “small-town charm” that makes their community so special. “We're growing, but we work very hard to maintain a real sense of community,” said Karen Sheldon, president of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce. Blue Ribbon high school “We have a great school system and we're one of the safest communities in Texas,” Sheldon said. Recognized as some of the best schools in Texas, the Georgetown Independent School District serves more

than 10,600 students with 10 elementary schools, three middle schools and three high schools. The district also features two popular alternative campuses. Georgetown High School is particularly notable, having been named a National Blue Ribbon Award School. Also a vibrant college town, Georgetown is home to Southwestern University – a private, four-year, undergraduate, liberal arts college that has the distinction of being the oldest university in Texas. Low taxes, utility bills The commitment to great education sets the stage for a well-educated workforce, which, in turn, helps to create a thriving business community. In addition to its industrial district, Georgetown also has low tax rates, a low-cost city-owned utility service and a convenient dual-rail service.

Neighborhoods Residents who relocate to Georgetown can explore the city's more than 10 distinct neighborhoods to find the one that's just right for them. Whether new residents are looking for a modest home on a small lot in the heart of the city – near local shopping, dining and entertainment options – or an opulent home on several acres centered around a popular country club or golf course, there's a Georgetown neighborhood to meet those needs. With homes ranging from the mid $100,000s to more than $1 million, there's a Georgetown neighborhood and home to meet just about every budget as well. History Established in 1848 and the seat of Williamson County, Georgetown is also a popular stop for history enthusiasts. The city has more than 180 homes and

Don’t miss …. • Hiking and biking: Georgetown residents and visitors can take advantage of nearly 9 miles of hike and bike trails along the North and South San Gabriel rivers. • Arts and culture: Arts and cultural attractions in Georgetown include the Georgetown Art Center, the Palace Theatre, the Williamson Museum, the Georgetown Public Library and Grace Heritage Center. The community also boasts some really cool outdoor public art. • The annual Red Poppy Festival is held in April. This is a Georgetown and Central Texas tradition, a time to enjoy family and friends, music, food, and fun. It includes a car show, an art contest and much more.

COMMUNITY PROFILE

Leander: A wonderful place to call home By Megan Mattingly-Arthur

students at 38 campuses in a nearly 200-square-mile district. The Leander Independent School District has received recognition from the Texas Education Agency and maintains a “College Connection” arrangement with Austin Community College to encourage its students to pursue higher education.

SPECIAL TO STATESMAN HOMES

Leander, a cozy bedroom community of Austin, is a wonderful place to raise a family with its great schools, recreation and more. Straddling the border of Williamson and Travis counties, and part of the Greater Austin Metropolitan Area, this friendly, midsize city offers scenic Hill Country views, easy access to big-city conveniences and a fascinating history. Why we love Leander Less than an hour north of downtown Austin, Leander is a great choice for people who commute to and from Austin for work but are reluctant to bring up a family in a bustling, big-city environment. Leander's close proximity to Austin puts residents within easy reach of Austin workplaces, as well as shopping, dining and entertainment options. Not a fan of the drive? The Capital MetroRail offers reliable train service between Leander and downtown Austin several times daily, Monday through Friday. The area is also served by Capital Metro buses. Storied history Leander was first established in 1882, when the Austin and Northwestern Railroad Company bypassed the nearby town of Bagdad. That same year, the railroad began selling lots at the new location to Bagdad merchants who were desperate to relocate their businesses closer to the new station, and Leander was born. Some local lore says that the town was named for Leander “Catfish Brown,” one of the railroad officials who was responsible for completing the railroad line, while other folks – including those at theTexas State Historical Association – say that it was probably named for station manager Karl Leander, as naming rail-

road stations after their managers was a common practice at the time. Following that early establishment, Leander grew rapidly, but the town wasn't officially incorporated until 1978. Today, Leander boasts a population of approximately 38,000, according to the Leander Chamber of Commerce, and is not only one of the fastest growing suburbs north of Austin, it's the fourth fastest-growing city in the entire state of Texas. Living and working Featuring a thriving business community for those who choose not to commute into the big city, as well as low tax rates and a bevy of house options, it's easy to see why Leander holds such appeal for people who are relocating to Central Texas. “Leander gives homebuyers exactly what they are seeking –highly-rated schools, quality homes, easy access to

work, plus Hill Countryscenery,” said Tim Towell, division president for Taylor Morrison Austin, the company behind Travisso, one of Leander's newest and most-exclusive master-planned residential developments. Nestled on more than 2,100 acres adjacent to Crystal Falls, Travisso boasts an array of stunning home plans and great community amenities, such as a 58-acre regional park, resort-style pool and splash areas, tennis courts, a fitness center with locker rooms, open play fields and a network of walking trails. The neighborhood features homes that range in price from the low $300,000s to the $800,000s. Leander also has a variety of apartments, condos and townhomes. Great schools Leander is served by the acclaimed Leander Independent School District, which educates more than 34,000

Tons of stuff to do Residents and visitors desiring recreational opportunities have no shortage of options in Leander. The city maintains numerous parks and green spaces offering amenities such as ball fields, playgrounds, and picnic and barbecue facilities. Parks like the 47-acre Benbrook Ranch Park – with its skate park and disc golf course – and the 46-acre Devine Lake Regional Park – with its 25-acre lake and great fishing and boating facilities – are not to be missed. For more information on visiting or relocating to the Leander area, call the Leander Chamber of Commerce at 512259-1907 or visit www.leandercc.org. The Leander Chamber of Commerce is also on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Google+.

Highland Homes driven by core values, customer satisfaction By Emily Moore SPECIAL TO STATESMAN HOMES

As a privately held, family-owned and operated homebuilder, Highland Homes is not driven by the stock market, by outside investors or by short-term market conditions. Instead, it is driven by its core values and its responsibility to its customers. Highland Homes was founded in 1985 by brotherand-sister team Rod Sanders and Jean Ann Brock. With Rod’s keen business knowledge and Jean Ann’s innovative approach to sales, marketing and architecture, 13 homes were sold in the first month of operation during one of the toughest real estate markets the nation has seen to date. Highland Homes quickly grew to become one of the leading single-family homebuilders in the United States. Today, it builds over 2,000 homes a year in Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. Rod and Jean Ann’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction has earned Highland many industry awards, including consistent high rankings by J.D. Power and Associates, making the top 20 in the Builder

100 List and winning the People’s Choice Builder of the Year award for the fourth consecutive time. It was also named one of Texas Monthly’s 50 Best Companies to Work for in Texas. Highland is dedicated to providing the best possible home building and buying experiences and helping homeowners realize the American dream. “Highland plans are specifically designed for Texas purchasers based on consumer input,” said Brittney Heffernan, marketing coordinator for Highland Homes. The company prides itself on developing homes on par with custom homes with unique architectural details and original designs promising quality and an enriching experience for homebuyers. Features in the homes can include up to three- and four-car garages, extended master suites, media or game rooms, a mud room, stone elevations and spa-

cious outdoor living spaces. Options for every lifestyle can include built-in desks, bookshelves and utility cabinets. Highland Homes is building at a variety of locations throughout the Austin area, including Santa Rita Ranch, Travisso, Parkside at Mayfield Ranch 53s and Tessera on Lake Travis, all of which will be featured on the Take Me Home Tour on Sept. 19-20 and Sept. 26-27. Tessera, which is on the north shore of Lake Travis in Lago Vista, is a hub for outdoor enthusiasts and offers residents a chance to connect with Texas Hill Country while still being located to modern amenities. “Tessera on Lake Travis is creating something that no other Austin area can offer. You can have lake and Hill Country views surrounded by a wildlife preserve. And let's not forget about the proximity to major shopping areas - less than 20 minutes away! "It is lake living at its best,” said Heffernan. “We are very excited about the plans we are offering in Tessera on Lake Travis and have two models to preview in this community.” For more information, visit www.highlandhomes. com.

Westin Homes delivers elegance, luxury, attention to small details By Emily Moore SPECIAL TO STATESMAN HOMES

Westin Homes has built a strong reputation as a builder of trust in delivering sophisticated luxury homes in Central Texas. Its award-winning architectural designs have a level of detail that transcends all the way from the nail pattern on the roof to the glue pattern beneath the flooring. Recent developments in technology not only introduce new conveniences, such the ability to turn your lights on when you are down the street, but they also save you considerable amounts of money, such as energy efficient windows. Although its attitude is extremely generous toward the features and special touches of your home, Westin Homes remains conservative in its pricing structure to ensure that it provides affordable sophistication. Westin Homes not only rewards its employees for their thoughts and ideas, it rewards its customers. Suggestions offered by clients are often implemented into new practices.

“At Westin Homes, we believe a home is more than just a place to live,” according to its website. “A home means family and friends, and is the place where we offer the warmth of our heart and generosity of our spirit. “Building elegant homes is certainly our expertise, but delighting our homeowners with our homes is our true passion. For over 20 years, Westin Homes has been a leader among homebuilders, offering the very best in quality and design” One of the places that Westin Homes is building is in Santa Rita Ranch in Liberty Hill, which will be on the Take Me Home Tour on Sept. 19-20 and Sept. 26-27. Santa Rita Ranch offers the true ranch lifestyle situated near the San Gabriel River. The community overlooks the breathtaking Texas Hill Country and is situated conveniently just minutes north of Austin.

When entering Santa Rita you will immediately feel welcomed by the traditional farmhouse with comfortable chairs on the front porch providing a true ranch feel. With 135 acres reserved for parks and open green space with opportunities for hiking, biking and a leisurely stroll, Santa Rita promotes an active lifestyle. Westin Homes offers impressive homes within Santa Rita Ranch South with the high-end look and features of a custom home. Dramatic architectural details make the homes both functional and beautiful. “From the impressive custom look of the home exteriors to the curved walls and archways, dramatic windows and soaring ceilings, you will see the Westin Homes difference in every detail,” said Christy Jurica of Westin Homes. Green living at Santa Rita is important and the homes are constructed with clean water and energy savings in mind. Santa Rita is also the only master-planned community in the area to offer natural gas. For more information on Westin Homes, visit www. westin-homes.com.

SPECIAL TO STATESMAN HOMES

Meritage Homes has been offering affordable and energy-efficient homes for 30 years and is building several communities in the Austin area. One of those communities is the Trails of Shady Oak in Leander, which is on the Take Me Home Tour on Sept. 19-20 and Sept. 26-27. Every home built by Meritage is Energy Star-certified, the first national builder to accomplish this. Having an Energy Star home can save homeowners as much as 50 percent on utility costs. “Some might say it's important to tell you that we've been around since 1985, or that we've won a slew of awards, ranging from Forbes' Platinum 400 Best Big Companies of America to being the recipient of Texas Builder of the Year five times, or being named Energy Star Partner of the Year. But we're about practicality and doing things that actually make a difference in your life and the way you live," according to MeritageHomes.com. With Meritage’s unique building practices, its homes tend to be twice as energy efficient as a typical home of the same size. In fact, Meritage was named an Energy Star Partner of the Year for 2013-15. Energy-saving and green-conscious features include Energy Star appliances; optional LED lighting; water-efficient faucets and shower heads; PEX plumbing; low- to zero-VOC materials, paints, stains and adhesives; and irrigation weather sensors. The building materials and construction are also green, with minimum low-E2 UV-resistant window and spray polyurethane foam insulation in walls, reducing heating and cooling costs up to 30 percent. Meritage offers home-monitoring systems, with home-energy management controls, remote Thermostats and

“A new home is more than just bricks and mortar. It's an essential part of who you are. At Taylor Morrison, we create the most exciting new homes imaginable, set them in vibrant neighborhoods and invite people to invest their dreams in them.” So says Taylor Morrison, a builder that has been helping families create their dream home for more than a century. So what makes a great home? Homebuyers have told Taylor Morrison what they value and expect from a home builder. These are the things that drive the company: n Designs that create spaces that work for you and your family n People who are knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. n Financing programs that are clear to understand and save you time and money. n Warranty programs that fix what's wrong and provide you with peace of mind. Today, Taylor Morrison homes are under construction in several states, including Texas. The company has drawn accolades from homebuyers and industry experts alike. The builder is offering a range of homes in the expansive, master-planned Travisso community, located in Leander, part of the Take Me Home Tour on Sept. 19-20 and Sept. 26-27. Serenity and convenience set Travisso apart from other master-planned communities. The homes are surrounded by breathtaking views, dramatic hillsides and natural beauty, yet are still just a short commute to downtown, Austin’s tech corridor, shopping and recreation. The community is located in the highly rated Leander School District as well. Taylor Morrison is offering four collec-

indoor/outdoor wireless cameras. These types of energy-efficient features can be seen in the many communities where Meritage Homes is building new houses in the Austin area, including Verona – the Hills and the Highlands in Pflugerville, Siena and Concord at Brushy Creek in Round Rock, Highmark, Solavera and South Grove in Austin, Garlic Creek in Buda and the Trails of Shady Oak. Meritage Homes offers homes in the Austin area ranging from 1,400 square feet to almost 5,000 square feet of living space, with options for every buyer. The homes are built with many convenient features that today’s homebuyers appreciate. Many of them offer luxurious master suites, large kitchens with granite countertops, and options for game and other extra rooms. There also are fabulous indoor/outdoor living transitions with covered patios, making for great places to gather outside. “With more than 85,000 homes built, our focus, since day one, has been to build incredible new homes and communities in prime locations for fantastic prices,” the company's website said. “We build them for real people — people with families and those without; people with everyday, busy lives; and those who are now enjoying a more relaxed lifestyle. But more than anything, we build energy-efficient homes and communities for people who appreciate a home being built the way it can, and should, be built." The Capri Collection will start in the high $200,000s and features five floor plans designed to provide ample space for easy living and gracious entertaining. COMMUNITY PROFILE

Liberty Hill: A small town with culture, wildlife, more New neighborhoods Despite its reputation for a quiet, rural atmosphere, new, upscale neighborhoods are springing up all throughout the Liberty Hill area. Liberty Hill's sought-after newer neighborhoods include Santa Rita Ranch, a premier master-planned community set on 3,100 gorgeous acres in Texas Hill Country. Santa Rita offers a wide variety of resort-style amenities, including a welcome center, town center, pools and splash parks, a family sports complex and sports fields, and a network of hiking, biking and walking trails.

By Megan Mattingly-Arthur SPECIAL TO STATESMAN HOMES

Liberty Hill is a sleepy, rural community with a history of refusing to stay put, as well as unique cultural attractions that draw visitors from far and wide. The community is located on Highway 29 – just 30 miles northwest of Austin – and tucked between the north and south forks of the San Gabriel River. Why we love Liberty Hill Some people think its necessary to drive into the city for a bit of arts and culture. But, in Liberty Hill, that just isn't so.Residents and visitors can take advantage of the town's interesting cultural attractions, which include several historic buildings. There’s also the super-cool Liberty Hill International Sculpture Park, which includes 27 monumental pieces made from granite, concrete, bronze and limestone. The community is also home to abundant wildlife and gorgeous views of the beautiful Hill Country. Shifting History What is now Liberty Hill was originally populated by a variety of Native American nations, including the Tonkawas, Comanches, Apaches and Hueco tribes. In 1836, the territory became part of the Republic of Texas which, in turn, became a part of the United States in 1846. The Liberty Hill area was a popular spot for European settlers relocating from Tennessee, Arkansas and the Carolinas in the early 1850s. The area's first post office opened just 3 miles west of the town site in 1853 and the postmaster, William Oliver Spencer, suggested the name Liberty Hill, which stuck, but the town's location did not. Liberty Hill shifted eastward twice in its early years in response to relocations of the local post office and stage stop. The town's location shifted once more in 1882, after the Austin and Northwestern

Small town charm Developers may have discovered just what a diamond Liberty Hill is, but that doesn't mean that locals will allow a “bigcity” feel to take over. No, the local folks in Liberty Hill are just as friendly as ever, and the charming shops and restaurants have never been more inviting. To learn more about the city of Liberty Hill, call 512-778-5449 or visit www. lhtexas.com.For additional information, email the Liberty Hill Chamber of Commerce at admin@libertyhillchamber.com or visit www.libertyhillchamber.org. Railroad Co. bypassed it. Now firmly entrenched in its location in western Williamson County, Liberty Hill has expanded from a population of approximately 300 in the early 1990s to a population of more than 1,600, according to a 2012 estimate from the U.S. Census Bureau, and is part of the one of the fastest growing counties in both the state and the nation. Thriving economy For much of its existence, Liberty Hill's economy was primarily agricultural in nature. Today, the community is home to hundreds of businesses, representing a wide variety of industries, including religious organizations, health

care, child care, and heating, plumbing and air conditioning services. Character + schools Public school students who live in the Liberty Hill area attend schools in the Liberty Hill Independent School District. Recognized as a “Character Plus” district by the Texas Education Agency, the Liberty Hill Independent School District is comprised of five schools – two elementary schools, an intermediate school, a junior high school and a high school – that cover 100 square miles in western Williamson County. The district serves nearly 3,000 students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
