The Kneelers Are Here! The magnificent new altar kneelers are here. Father Jeff dedicated them on October 11 and recognized those who contributed to the project (pictured above.) For over six years, Robin Cowsar served as head of the project. Becky Patterson, who designed our stained glass windows, also designed the kneelers, using the motif of Hill Country flowers and water. Robin, along with CC Gibbons, Morey Weldon, Marilee Pankratz, Joann Roach and Sandy Wuest hand stitched the beautiful designs. Each kneeler took over 1000 hours of hand work.

A New Resource in Town – The MOM Center The MOM Center’s purpose is to give mothers and mothers-to-be the skills they need to break the cycle of dysfunctional parenting, abuse and neglect. It is a faith-based non-profit that intends to help young parents who do not know how to parent well. The MOM Center is staffed by volunteers and funded by generous donors.

Each MOM Center client meets weekly with her own personal advocate/mentor to work through a curriculum that addresses issues like these: preparing for baby, safety, first aid, discipline with love, money management and life skills. An “Earn While You Learn” program provides incentives for participants; after completing sections of the course, they receive “MOM Money” to buy items needed for their children (diapers, formula, clothing, etc.) You can help to strengthen our community and share faith and hope with those who have little by supporting the MOM Center. For more information or to make a donation, contact Rev. Jan McGrath at 9977690 or 456-2025. If you are interested in mentoring or would like to visit the MOM Center (at 107 S. Milam) contact Rhonda at 456-8840 or momcenter14@gmail.com.

Vestry Happenings During the October meeting, the Vestry received the Annual Audit report from Chairperson Beverly Carnes. Other members of the committee are Molly Martin and Lorri Kendrick. Our parish community owes Bill Sadd many thanks for serving as a resource person for the committee and chairing it for a number of years. Thank you, Bill Sadd. The present Audit Committee will serve for another year, but needs a new member to assist and provide continuity for 2017. The Treasurer reported that the 2016 budget will increase over this year’s by $100,000. This increase is for the church’s long-term health and to add an Assistant Pastor. A Vestry Nominating Committee was announced and will include Jim Spruiell, Jack Kendrick, Margaret Hawn, Pris Williams, Johnny Gorden and our Rector, Jeff Hammond. These important dates were announced: January 10, 2016 January 16, 2016 February 18-20, 2016

A Prayer for Advent O God, you know us better than we know ourselves— you know my being and my doing. In this time of Advent preparation, help me to spring clean my life. Help me to deepen and strengthen my relationships: To you, to others, and to myself. Take my hand and lead me on a journey. Amen

November 29 is the first Sunday of Advent
