PROSPECTUS 2021

A MESSAGE FROM OUR NEW CHAIR OF FOUNDATION It is a great honour to be appointed Chair of the St Catherine’s School Foundation Board and I would like to thank you for your contributions to our School. In 2021, we have a lot planned and I am looking forward to working together to future-proof girls’ education. As a member of the School Foundation, you have enabled the best facilities and programs for the benefit of St Catherine’s girls, their education and wellbeing. This prospectus looks at what we expect to deliver in 2021 supported by a spirit of community participation and generosity. I am particularly excited to meet and talk to each of you over the course of 2021. I would really like to hear your thoughts and feedback, so please do not hesitate to contact our Advancement Director, Jacqueline Williams who can make this happen. In the meantime, thank you for the opportunity to be your representative and advocate. Here’s to the community we love and to our St Catherine’s girls whose futures benefit from our efforts together.

WE ARE FUTURE-READY Starting in the Foundation’s 25th Anniversary, we will focus on creating significant growth opportunities for our fundraising program against a social and economic backdrop in which there will be a heavier reliance on fundraising than ever before. We look to activating whole community giving at every giving level, to help establish a Foundation program that is future-ready. The phenomenal success of the Inaugural Giving Day in 2020, in which $511,545 was raised in 24 hours, was the start of this evolution. Over 2021-2025, we will build unprecedented levels of support for the six pillars of our Foundation program.

HER STAGE Building Fund

The next exciting stage of physical development at St Catherine’s includes a Black Box Theatre that enables the School to establish a Performing Arts Academy. This theatre will be a dedicated teaching space for drama, music, theatre and dance coupled with a devoted performance space for co-curricular rehearsals and performances such as the Concerto Concert, Junior and Senior School plays and musicals. In 2021, we look to raise a minimum of $500,000 towards the total cost of $1 million redevelopment of the Frank Osborn Centre to incorporate the Blackbox Theatre. We invite members interested in supporting capital works and wishing to learn more about the Theatre, to contact us for an appointment to discuss these plans.

HER ADVANTAGE Indigenous & Rural Scholarship Fund

St Catherine’s builds a diverse community through scholarships that provide quality education for girls who would otherwise be denied access due to economic, distance or historical challenges. The School has been in partnership with Yalari since 2014. This partnership, complemented by government and philanthropic support to our Indigenous Scholarship Fund, covers the cost of tuition and boarding for Indigenous students in their senior school years at St Catherine’s School. Gifts to our Rural Scholarship Fund help cover the boarding component for talented and deserving regional students who would otherwise not be able to attend our School.

HER FUTURE Hardship Fund

The Hardship Fund was established in 2020 through the phenomenal support of our community. The Fund is partly used to provide Hardship support. The remainder of the endowment is invested for the future, as informed by the Hardship Fund Committee. The School will aim to fundraise to maintain a corpus of $1 million. The Hardship Fund offers an uninterrupted and continuing education for current students whose families face hardship, and also financial support to new students who would otherwise not be given a St Catherine’s education.

HER GUARDIANS Bequests

St Catherine’s owes an enormous debt of gratitude to the many women and men who have bequeathed funds and property to the School. This generosity has had a profound impact on our School. Leaving a gift in your Will provides a wonderful, lasting impact for current and future generations of St Catherine’s students.

HER TIES

Old Girls’ Excellence Bursary In 2021, we launch a program that asks as many Old Girls as possible each year to join together to impact the lives of young women in whose hands lies our future, through the establishment of an Old Girls’ Excellence Bursary. We wish our former students to consider making a monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, once a year or simply a one-off donation and, through your contributions over time, provide opportunities for many more girls to access a St Catherine’s education.

HER STORY Library Fund

To understand your history is to understand who you are and why. Over the next three years we will deliver Phase 1 and 2 of the School’s Archive digitisation and preservation project. This project also includes the creation of an onsite and online Heritage Trail and recording and publishing generational stories, to honour and share our past with our whole community.
