Can My Health Plan Move with Me?

When you are planning a move, the last thing on your mind is your health insurance. But it is imperative that you consult with an experienced insurance professional as soon as possible to avoid a gap in coverage.

Individual Plans

The individual insurance market is regulated on a state-by-state basis, with prices being set on a county-by-county basis. In Minnesota, our state-run exchange is called MNsure. You have new plan options, prices, network providers and possible savings thru MNsure. Our agents and other certified MNsure navigators and brokers can help you decipher the details and help you make an informed decision in a timely manner.

Medicare Plans

Many Medicare plans also have networks that are region specific. If you move outside of your plan’s service area, you are allowed to make a change within a specific time period. It’s always a good idea to contact your plan before you move to ensure the transition happens in a timely manner.

Are We Really What We Eat?

You are what you eat is a phrase you’ve heard many times, but is it true?

As a matter of fact, it certainly is!

Take sugar, for example. Eating sugar doesn’t make you sweet…it can make you sick….all over! This one ingredient can affect your digestion, your energy, your weight, and even your mental health.

Nutrients, like sugar, are processed and absorbed throughout the digestive system (the gut) and distributed to the rest of your body. The gut is home to trillions of microorganisms that help digest your food, make vitamins, and create important chemical transmitters for all of your bodily functions including mood and memory. This an intricate powerhouse orchestra that can literally make or break your health.

With 70 percent of the immune system housed in the gut, it is extremely important to keep it healthy to fight off against foreign and internal invaders. In addition, up to 95 percent of some neurotransmitters – substances that can affect everything from mood and memory to bone degeneration – also are formed or reside in the gut.

Nutritional Services and support you need to succeed

Research shows that our gut health is central to our well being and should be our first priority in getting healthy. And, as mentioned above, our daily choices directly affect it.

Improve your health through methods that fit your personal lifestyle and goals

But not all foods are healthy for everyone. For example, milk can be tolerated by some but not by others. Gluten containing foods are known culprits to cause disease. What you choose to consume is in your control. How do you know if what you are consuming is good for YOU?

• Feel more energy and less pain during your daily activities

Understand how to fuelyour bodywith the proper nutrition it needs

Assess and fix your digestive issues for better gut health

Detoxify and learn about supplements that will encourage your body to heal

If you are concerned about what you are consuming and want to know if it is right for your body, talk with a natural health professional trained in nutrition. They can help you decide if an intentional eating plan or food sensitivity testing might be right for you. The more you know, the better you’ll be.

Joining a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is as Easy as 123!

1.Become a Member

Find a local CSA at www.minnesotagrown.com.

When you enroll, you join a community of individuals who pledge support to a farm operation. Consider drop-off locations, cost, timing, and product availability when selecting your CSA.

2.Pay Ahead

By providing payment upfront, you take on the shared farm risk, and form a relationship with the farmer. Regardless of the harvest, the farm will survive to the next season.

3.Pick-up Your Goods

Either weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly, you will pick up your CSA box from a designated drop site. Get to know your farmer and fellow members at pick-ups.
