Granite history runs deep here in Greater St. Cloud and the surrounding area. It began when deposits were found along area rivers and in nearby land. Today it is still a booming industry, and you can hardly drive a mile without seeing something made from granite. If you’d like to see some examples up-close, here are some options: Stearns History Museum, Quarry Park, Stearns County Courthouse, St. Mary’s Cathedral, MN Correctional Facility, St. John’s Abbey Church Interior, Assumption Chapel, St. Boniface Catholic Church, First National Bank in Rockville and Rockville City Hall. And just down the road in Cold Spring Minnesota you’ll find one of the largest granite companies in the world. If you’d like to learn even more check out the “On Solid Ground” exhibit at the Stearns History Museum.
