MISSION MESSAGE Dear Relevant Radio Family,
“…teach them what they should know for salvation.” ~ Our Lady to Adele Brise, 1859 What an exciting time to be a Catholic! It’s Advent, we are all looking forward to Christmas and Christ’s coming, and there are so many good things happening in the Church these days. We have much to be thankful for! On December 8, 2010, Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the Bishop of Green Bay, the Most Reverend David L. Ricken, made an historic announcement with the Church’s findings on the apparitions at the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help in Champion, Wisconsin. The Church has given official approval for these apparitions in which Our Lady appeared to a young lady, Adele Brise, asking her to teach the children their catechism. This site is the first officially approved Marian apparition site in the United States! (You can read more about these apparitions in the cover story of this issue of On The Dial.) Because of you, our listeners and supporters, we were able to bring you live coverage of this historic event! Because of you, we are able to help promote this important Shrine and others like it. Because of you, we are able to fulfill Our Lady’s message for her children and “teach them what they should know for salvation.” These are exciting times, indeed, and you are helping us share that excitement with the world! I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of our mission. By supporting Relevant Radio, you are actually assisting Our Lady and satisfying her desire to have all her children catechized, especially since radio is the most cost effective and efficient method to catechize as many souls as possible. So thank you for helping us spread the Faith through the airwaves! From all of us at Relevant Radio, may you have a very Blessed Christmas! With prayers and best wishes,

Good Help Isn’t Hard to Find
Cover Story
If you are not from around Northeastern Wisconsin, chances are you have never heard of the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help in Champion (New Franken), Wisconsin or the Marian apparitions that occurred there in 1859. On December 8, 2010, this little-known place gained national attention as The Most Rev. David L. Ricken, Bishop of the Green Bay, formally declared the modest Shrine to be a diocesan shrine and approved the Marian apparitions of Adele Brise. It is the first and only Marian apparition to be approved in the United States and the eleventh approval in the world since 1900. The announcement was made during a special Mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception at the Shrine. Relevant Radio broadcast this historic Mass live and the Bishop’s press conference that was held afterward.

Learn more! You can learn more about Our Lady of Good Help and the story of Sr. Adele Brise by going to www.relevantradio.com and entering keyword: Help. Relevant Radio produced a short video about the Shrine that features our very own Drew Mariani and Father Rocky. There is also a video of Bishop Ricken’s official decree and our complete audio coverage of the event. Click HERE to go the page directly.

The Shrine is particularly known for miraculously surviving the Pestigo fire of 1871. As the raging fire encompassed the surrounding area, the entire five acres of land consecrated to the Blessed Virgin remained unharmed after Sr. Adele Brise organized a prayer vigil that circled the area. In addition, the history of the Shrine is filled with accounts of prayers that have been answered at the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help. Many physical healings and conversions have taken place as a result of pilgrimages to the Shrine. With the Bishop’s approval, the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help, known mostly by locals, has been elevated to the same level of Marian apparitions at Guadalupe, Mexico; Fatima, Portugal; and Lourdes, France.
ANSWERED PRAYERS: Crutches left at the shrine from miraculous healings

Hearing people’s stories of conversion, reversion and grace helped 24-year-old Colorado native Seth DeMore discover the beauty of his Catholic faith for the first time. He felt called to share. “They were too good for just me to hear. I knew I needed to somehow capture them and put them where others could hear them, too.” And so Seth has made pilgrimages across the country, sometimes via bicycle, collecting these stories and sharing them on his website, www.onebillionstories.com. The website is so named because there is a story for each of the one billion Catholics currently living on Planet Earth. Seth recently visited the Relevant Radio headquarters in Green Bay, Wisconsin while he was in town for a speaking engagement. Click HERE to listen to his interview on The Drew Mariani ShowTM with guest host Chuck Neff.

Can I get fries with that? BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY ON-AIR:
During our Fall Pledge Drive, Drew mentioned that he’d dress up in a hot dog suit to sell hot dogs for Relevant Radio if it would help raise money. One of the associates just so happened to have such a suit for Drew.
GUESS WHO? Fr. Benjamin Sember, priest of the Diocese of Green Bay, rolled in to Relevant Radio on a friend’s Harley to celebrate Mass at the Chapel of the Nativity.
Seeing the picture on Drew’s facebook page, a Chicago listener pointed out that a proper hot dog would not have ketchup on it!
