The bagels were spinning off the buffet line as fast as the wheels were spinning in the street at the third annual Bike to Work Day breakfast on the Routt County Courthouse lawn Wednesday morning. Organiz ed VIDEO by Routt CounONLINE ty Riders and www.steamboatpilot.com supported by a number of local businesses, the Bike to Work Day initiative drew together the serious riders and the casual cruisers from around Steamboat Springs. Routt County Riders Vice President Lisa Shafer said the annual breakfast expanded this year as the number of bicyclists on the roads grew all across town. Shafer said there were close to 200 people who attended the breakfast on the lawn. Rich Hager, a rider who works at BAP and Honey Stinger, said the event is intended to bring “racers and noncompetitive riders together” for social time. Katie Gaylord, who ate breakfast on the courthouse lawn with her daughter, Rachel Nelson, said she was one of the noncompetitive riders drawn to the event for the first time this year. “I’m not what they call an avid biker; I’m a cruiser bike See Bike, page 12
