ited South Routt County in the late 1800s, and the family has owned property there for more than 100 years. Jack Redmond’s grandfather purchased grazing land west of Yampa in 1914. The couple lives on the Redmond Home Ranch, which is one of three ranches in Routt County listed on the Colorado State Register of Historical

Places. Jack Redmond lives in the house he was born in. The Redmonds said they love their animals and their way of life. “You’re your own boss,” Jack Redmond said. “You don’t have to go to the big wheel to get the day off.” See Ranchers, page 11
