Am I eligible to vote?

In order to be eligible to vote, you must register in the county in which you reside. Your residence is your principal or primary home. When determining the principal or primary residence, consider the following circumstances:  State that issued your Driver’s License  Motor Vehicle Registration  Residence for Income or Other Tax Purposes  Residence of Parents  Scholarship Eligibility,  Insurance, etc…

Remember, before you can vote, you must register to vote.

4 SIMPLE STEPS TO VOTING Step 1: Register to Vote.

The requirements for voter registration are:  You must be a United States Citizen.  You must be at least 18 years of age before Election Day.  You must be a resident of your precinct at least 30 days prior to the next election and consider this your sole legal place of residence.  You must provide an acceptable form of identification.

Voter Registration forms are available at the Clerk and Recorder’s Office or on line at www.co.routt.co.us/clerk

Step 2: Find out where to vote.

If you just moved to a new county or state for college, you can still vote in the upcoming election. If you live in on-campus housing or off campus you most likely still have a residency in your hometown or state (the address on your driver’s license or ID card). You can register to vote absentee in your home state or county. It’s easy to vote absentee. Many college or university students temporarily living away from home choose to vote absentee. planning to be on Election Day, you must fill out an absentee ballot request application for your home state. Contact your local election official in that state to request an absentee ballot application.

Step 3: Become an educated voter.

You’ll likely be voting on candidates and issues. You may also be voting on a proposition, an amendment to your state’s constitution and/or other local issues. Be sure to be educated about the candidates and issues that are important to you.

RECEIVED BY 7 P.M.

If you have not provided our office with a mailing address, the ballot will be mailed to your residential address.

If you will be at an address other than your mailing or residential address during this Election, you may request, in writing, a mail ballot sent to another address.
