CoaCh’s Corner Lisa Renee and myself are very excited about the 2015 Cross Country season! We have a record number of student athletes out for the season — 38. For more than half of those athletes, it is their first year running Cross Country for the Sailors! We have an incredible group of experienced upperclassman, whose positive attitudes are contagious and who are already setting an amazing tone for the season. As coaches, we are excited to work with athletes of varied athletic backgrounds, yet who might be new to the sport of Cross Country. Our goal is to introduce athletes and create passion for a lifelong sport. As a team, we encourage each other to reach individual goals as well as working together to create an amazing season. The team is off to a great start for the season, with an upbeat and positive atmosphere in training and goal setting.

Each of our races this season brings a unique component to the table, with a variety of courses, racing challenges and competitors from around the state of Colorado. We are looking forward to coming alongside the student athletes as they take on the rigors of intelligent training and racing, and continue to learn and gain experience throughout this season. Most importantly, we are looking forward to working with the team as they work towards individual successes and victories, all of which creates a dedicated, well balanced and stellar group of young men and women. — Erik Ramstad

CoaCh’s Corner As we begin this football season, the coaching staff and I are as excited and as optimistic as ever. We have enjoyed a very good first week of training camp, led by a core group of seniors. I believe that our Sailor Football Mission Statement holds the guiding principles that will lead to our success... To use the experiences unique to Football to raise young men to be honest, hardworking, and compassionate citizens both on and off the playing field. We truly believe that our program and the amazing young players can achieve great success while having an enjoyable, meaningful experience. Great teams have great relationships. While most will condense our season down to wins and losses over time, we hope to be a positive influence on how we treat each other along the way. Each player is equally valuable and appreciated, whether they play the most or the least. We are very grateful to be able to play this wonderful game and thank all of those people in this community that support Sailor Football and Athletics. Please enjoy Sailor Football and Friday Night Lights! — Coach Clementson

Dream Big, Win Big!
With seven returning seniors, the 2015 Steamboat Sailors are looking forward to a strong season in the Colorado 4A Western Slope League. Competition within WSSL League promises to be at an all-time high with Eagle Valley, Battle Mountain, and Summit County expecting to field very strong groups. Steamboat looks to match up well with each program, respectively. Leading up to the 2015 season, a strong contingent of the Sailor program embarked on a 10-day trip to Denmark and Norway. This unique experience provided a great for opportunity player and team development that will surely provide momentum throughout the season and beyond. Finally, the Sailors have Oct. 17 circled on their calendar as we play Centaurus, a long-standing nonleague opponent, in the Colorado Rapids home stadium pitch at Dick Sporting Goods Park. 2015 is going to be a great season! – Rob Bohlmann

Coach’s Corner The 2015 Volleyball team returns seven varsity players, six of which were in the starting rotation during the 2014 season. This group of athletes has worked extremely hard during the off-season and has high expectations for themselves. These girls are some of the most impressive leaders that I have ever worked with. They possess an amazing combination of talent, work ethic, and high character…the volleyball coaching staff is very proud of them! — Wendy Hall Wendy Hall begins her 29th year of coaching volleyball at SSHS.
