Self branding

Page 1

Self Branding Name: Stephen Michael Maher Brief synopsis: Re-visit my old ‘Self-Branding’ and distinguish from the type of designer I was then, to the designer I am today, noting in what way I’ve changed, try and create a logo that shows my development and change as a designer.

I learnt from past mistakes that I should focus more on simplicity and create a ‘timeless’ logo as oppose to my past self-branding which I quickly began to detest due to it’s over complicated nature.

Approach

For my business card, I’ve ordered a ‘Budget Plier’, this will aid in embossing business cards, the design is quite bold, meaning it appears distinct (as displayed by the above mock-up). I’ve decided to use a very minimal colour scheme, this is because I’m trying to keep the emphasis on my work (in terms of web), while the background will sit neatly behind, with the only adornment, being my logo. The splash of colour from the minimal yellow adds that sense of personalisation and represents luxury.-

The range of stationary demonstrates that the logo can be effectively used across a multitude of items while still keeping its visual effect.

Stationary

The logo is constructed from the initials of my full name. S.M.M Stephen Michael Maher. It also incorporates the double ‘M’ ligature. I really think this logo is suited to me as a designer, this is because, like my work its bold but at the same time clean.

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

To the left is an example of how my key information will be placed on the back of my business card. Because of the simplicity of my business card, I’ll be able to clamp a batch together to edge paint yellow.

Below is the layout of how I’m constructing my website, the only amendments to be considered are the size and width of the boxes my projects will be placed in. As I’m re-printing and re-photographing work for my portfolio, I’ve left these spaces blank until I’m sure of what projects will be placed where.
