SOUTH AFRICA

Dear Madam, Sir, I am currently looking for an internship from June 4 to August 3 and am highly interested in joining your team. Currently in the first year of Master’s at the National School of Architecture of Montpellier, I would like to do an internship in an architecture agency, to discover more fully this job, and discover the real requests and demands that come with this, to awaken my career as a student of architecture. In 2012, I participated in the creation of a decor for the show with my association Noël Pour Tous (Christmas for all), on Christmas Eve, it was a great moment of sharing that pushed me even more to get into these studies which have been exciting and very rewarding. In 2015, I joined the ARPAL student association, within my school, an association for which I was President from May 2016 to May 2017. I thus had the chance to participate in the organization of exhibitions , conferences, trips and student nights. I also did a work internship in April 2016 which taught me a lot about the constructive systems and the mechanisms of setting up the foundations, walls and slabs in a housing building. Various experiences, especially in a large architecture agency in Marseille in January 2017, workshops and student competitions, including that of the Bénéteau Foundation where we had to create a floating neighborhood, have taught me to work alone and in a group, reflecting on the energetic, material and environmental themes of today and tomorrow, and performing the learning of different tools. So you can count on my great motivation during this internship which represents for me a real opportunity to gain experience and maturity. Very curious, sociable and attentive to others, I am interested in everything. Culture and openness to the outside world are two essential assets. Having done several internships in companies, this experience will be an opportunity to develop new skills and enrich my professional experience. I am at your disposal for any additional information that you deem useful. Hoping very much that you will be able to respond favourably to my request. Yours faithfully Stephane DESCAT

TODAY & TOMORROW - M I C R O A R C H I T E C T U R E 1st YEAR WORK - directed by Jerome L A F O N D & NICOLAS C R E G U T

In the heart of historic Montpellier, the project was to imagine a microarchitecture composed of a topography, a limit and a cover to identify a first meaning to the definition of architect. To release functions, to live, to sit, to protect oneself ... FACADES Place of history and epicenter of a city center in continuous movement, the objective was to create a real place of life and exchange not to be just a passage from one place to another. Thus I imagined a topography composed of three different triangles that would cross but at the same time would allow to sit, lie down, or have fun with its slopes. The red color, a symbol of passion for the people of Montpellier, would bring people together through its vivacity. The limit and the cover, whose modules are twice as large, are playful mirrors that reflect both the viewer and the buildings and life that surround the installation.

STALL LOOKS - R E C E P T I O N S T A L L O F F A V 1st YEAR WORK - directed by JEROME L A F O N D & NICOLAS C R E G U T

SECTION 1/20 Every year, Montpellier hosts the FAV, Festival des Architectures Vives. On this occasion, the mansions of the city exceptionally open their doors to the visitors to discover facilities realized by young national and international architects. A reception stall can guide visitors. We were allowed to design this stall.

This stall, almost entirely composed of wood, would capture the looks and the light of this narrow inner courtyard by two large skylights meeting together above a threshold of interior intimacy. The walls, finely shifted, would guide the visitor’s journey to interactive and fun kiosks on the festival.

CARNON

In the pavilion area of Carnon, a seaside town near Montpellier, we had to build a house for a family whose profile was previously established in pairs. We had the freedom to ask ourselves in the place of one of the houses present on the strip built at the edge of the beach. Je ne sais pas ce que tu cherche à dire ici pour la dernière phrase. Mais elle n’est pas bonne. Thus this detached beach house is built in protection of the spray like a carapace. A corten steel shell that articulates the different rooms, presenting the house on 2 levels. A large passage on the ground floor creates a breakthrough from the road to the sand and thus creates a separation between the family space with the day rooms and the parking on one side and a professional space, a space of aquatic activity and a separate room for the grandmother living in the house.

CARNON

fisherman’s housing - U R B A N I S M N eighborhood 2ND YEAR WORK - directed by YANNICK H O F F E R T

The project was to replace part of the existing neighborhood between the beach and the pond in the background, reorganizing part of the main axis from the center of Carnon to the wilder beaches, which frames rows of single houses and collective housing of three floors maximum, as well as common areas and campsites.

The choice was made not to disrupt an axis that stretches for several kilometers but to create islands of housing that would generate places, paths and small green spaces reminiscent of the enclosures present in another part of the city and often used by summer visitors to play petanque or to have a barbecue for example. This would recreate a link and a dialogue between vacationers. The choice to open the campsite and also create different enclosures and allow to create a tour around the neighborhood and remove the split between fixed houses and campsites. The houses, all in wood with large glass openings and a typological roof of the house recall the beach huts. MASter PLAN OF THE DISTRICT

SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

BLACK MEDIUM HOTEL - e H O T E L 2ND YEAR WORK - directed by ELODIE N O U R R I G A T

MASter PLAN

Santiago de Compostela is a city known for being a place of pilgrimage but it is also the land of many leading companies, a research center and the stronghold of a large university. We were given the choice between two fairly narrow plots of land between two parks and near the great science faculty on one side and the CitĂŠ of the Music and the Museum of Natural History on the other. The land is angled taking the curve of the small road and leads to the entrance of one of the two parks. The project must be a connected hotel - eHotel - welcoming business people. The project takes up the triangle of the square with its curved side. It is divided into two parts: a glass base forming the reception and restaurant, then 4 levels with 12 rooms, a multipurpose room, an art gallery, a connected bookstore cafe and a bar on the top floor with the suites. The upper levels are black concrete with porosity contrasting with the interior of the building and truncated corners that are white. The openings always recall the triangle, the key word of this place

FOS-SUR-MER

EMBRUN - P O R T C E N T E R 3RD YEAR WORK - directed by PIERRE S O T O & AXELLe B O U R D E A U

The Port Center is intended to showcase the large Seaport to which it is connected. It is a place for exhibitions and exchanges but also a meeting place for future investors as well as for the general public. It can also be a training center for port workers. From the existing Port-Center of Marseille-Fos, it was necessary to carry out a renovation and an extension. Keeping the original shape of the building, I redrew more straight lines on the building and taking the hexagonal shape of the amphitheater, I drew different poles. In the first building are thus defined the reception, a temporary and permanent exhibition space, a restaurant and the existing amphitheater. Then, by creating a shift of the lines, a second building for training is built for classroom and meeting rooms as well as offices. The building made of glass and an aluminum structure is covered with corten steel sunshade covering the entire length of the facade, alternating with corten steel plates covering the more intimate parts of the building. The garden is requalified to create a botanical garden highlighting the Mediterranean flora.

MONTPELLIER

ARENA SQUARE - C O L L E C T I V E H O U S I N G 3RD YEAR WORK - directed by ANNABELLE I S Z A T T

On the former site of a car wash in the district of Près d’Arènes in Montpellier, a developing neighborhood, we had to realize a project of 76 homes ranging from 1-bedroom to 4-bedroom, as well as shops and a nursery. So I cut the plot into three blocks and created a central square as a square taking the principle of garden and Mediterranean species. The shops are located with the nursery on the ground floor of the main building on the street. The housing is broken down into two boxes superimposed on each other. A first concrete slab includes simplex, the second zinc is the duplex part and is offset with the first. The terraces have a glass concrete railing that adapts to the intimacy with the street, steel cladding filters the light.

PRET-A-PORTER

Frontignan

According to some studies, the water will rise in 100 to 150 years from 2 to 6m high. So we left the railway line, which is currently 4m above sea level at the station and then down. C’est un peu bizarre cette dernière phrase. We decided to leave this marker and raise the train to 4m high along the new coast and create a habitable and welcoming project. Housing, shops, equipment, park and arts are the key words that will come to give thickness and a size to the project. The goal was to slow down transport by limiting the car’s position and replacing this obsolete train since the construction of the LGV by a milder tram to serve the towns of the coast while mixing it with the bikes and pedestrians which reoccupy space. The project would recreate a link between the city and the sea while playing on the minerality to create a link between residents and summer tourists.

MARSEILLE

ARCHIPEL - F L O A T I N G A R E A CONtest B E N E T E A U FONDATION 2 0 1 6

The objective of this contest was to create a floating neighborhood composed of 200 luxury dwellings, shops and a public space. By taking again the natural architecture of the Provencal creeks and rocks which throw themselves into the water, the project is established in continuity with the hill of Talabot. The cornice overlooks the project that does not exceed 12m high. The housing is cleared on an archipelago of islands of raw concrete placed on the sea and contrasting with a large wooden pontoon articulating the various buildings. The openings of the building dig into the cornures of the rock to come to mix vegetation and minerality.
