OCTOBER SHENANIGANS! October is such great month. The weather has definitely cooled down, and the leaves and trees have also started to change colors. Life automatically gets slower during these months, because just as in nature, people, places and things go into instant hibernation mode. I am particularly excited about the season as we get ready to reel in yet another year, and I, like I am sure the majority of our readers, want to finish this year strong. Being a Christian publication, as you could imagine, we have to constantly "keep our ear " to the street so to speak so that we may stay atop of what God is doing in his current season. This information in turn helps us to bring news, guided wisdom and some heavenly realm imparting unto you. With that being said, check out this month's piece Follow Your Dreams, an ode to those who have trusted God, or are believing God enough to follow after the dreams, and visions that God has given them their life. Also, check out Girl, You Got This, if you are in need of a little confidence building. And finally, the woman who launched this month's theme all together, check out our exclusive interview with Ms. Pam Chatman, woman of God, history maker, history breaker and Founder/Owner of P Chatman Television Network! You don't want to miss that one.

F ollow You r Dr eam s Now how many times have you heard this? Well guess what, it true, to a certain extent.
some point lawyer-up in some situation or way.
There is nothing else greater that you will do in your life than to follow after the dreams that God has given you. Yes, that's right.
However, when it comes to following after the things that God has specifically given you to do in this lifetime, there is no sweeter dream accomplishment than this one.
Not the childhood dream you had of being a lawyer, and believe me, the way I've seen God work, not even those "skill sets" or that personally desired job will be far removed from you.
Here are a few Scripture references to let you know that when you take up your cross and run after the things that God has assigned you to do in this life, you will not fail...
Trust me, you will at
Pr over bs 3:5-6 (KJV): "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding...In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths". Psalm s 9:10 (ESV): "And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you".

P
am Ch at m an is more than a great American
success story. After working for more than 25 years in television, Ms. Chatman rose through the ranks to become the first African-American News Director in the state of Mississippi. Her climb to the top was not always easy, however, take her sheer determination, add that to the will of God, and what you come out with is someone who is simple unstoppable. I recently interviewed Ms. Chatman, here is her story.
Q:T ell u s you r n am e, an d t ell u s a lit t le bit abou t you r self an d you r back gr ou n d? A: My name is Pam Chatman, I'm living in the Mississippi Delta, I was raised here. I grew up in the Mississippi Delta area. I come from a background of broadcasting. I was in television for 25 plus years, I started there from the bottom as a production assistant, with a degree in Broadcasting, and worked my way all the way up to the top as a News Director, becoming the first
African-American woman to ever be a news director in the state of Mississippi. Q: Wow , t h at is pr et t y ph en om en al ju st h avin g t h at back gr ou n d alon e. A: Yes, God has been good, he has been faithful. It's something [TV] , that I wanted to do as a young girl. I knew that it was going to be challenge for me because I was different, meaning that I was full-figured, and most women in television, or people in television, don't

have that. Um, so you know , Oprah broke that barrier, and I walked right on in. Q: Am en , Am en , Am en ....You k n ow , w h en I w as you n ger , t h ey u sed t o say " Sh e's lar ge, bu t sh e h as su ch a pr et t y f ace" ...(Lau gh in g) A: (Laughing) Uh, huh, yeah, they used to always say "Oh, she is so beautiful". Even when I went to college, you know, people, when they first saw me, they saw I was majoring in broadcasting but they thought I was just going to focus on radio or print, no, I'm focusing on television. And they would be like, you have a feel, you are very charismatic, you know how to ask a question, you can ad lib and ask a question on the drop of a dime, you know. But people always doubt people. And I always tell people, stop looking at the cover of the book and just
pick it up and read it, you know. And so, you know, being in television has really, strengthened me, and made me the strong woman that I am today. Q: You k n ow , I love t h at , u m , I w as goin g t o ask a f ew ot h er qu est ion s st ar t in g ou t , bu t let s n aw on t h at a lit t le bit . I've been on bot h sides of bot h coin s' m yself , h avin g gon e u p an d dow n in w eigh t over t h e year s, also h avin g w or ked in t elevision , par t of m y m ajor in sch ool w as f ilm ...you br ou gh t u p a ver y im por t an t poin t abou t h ow t h e in du st r y st r en gt h en ed you ...w as God t h e leadin g f or ce beh in d you in m ak in g t h e decision t o pu r su e t h e t elevision r oad, an d w h at did He t ell you ? A: Absolutely...I try not to
make any decisions without meditating and seeking God, first. As a young girl, I gained a relationship, and a personal relationship with God, and I have always asked him because I came from...I was raised in a poverty stricken area in the Mississippi Delta where people gave up on life. But I was just one of the ones who was just very determined to press for my dream in life. And so, you know, through television, I have experienced some holistic things in my experience and in my career. And it was by the grace of God that in everything that I experienced, he always kept me....He didn't say that the [weather] wasn't going forward, but he didn't say it wasn't going to prosper [either]. So I thank God for His favor because He kept me those twenty-something years, because living in the
Mississippi Delta, in broadcasting, [and being] an African-American, it has been rough, but I am grateful for every trial, every stone that was wrought . Every denial, every no, and every shut door that was coming to me in television, because it made me a darn woman. It brought me closer to my purpose. It pushed me to never give up on your dream, because as long as you've got God on your side, anything is possible. Q: Am en ! Um , M s. Ch at m an , you h ave a lot of t h in gs goin g on h er e. Q: (Laugh)...I'm being a little jokester here right now...I'm saying, just looking here at the Bio, what is it that you don't do? (laugh again)... A: If its anything that has to do with service, I'm there....So, there's not to much I don't do. I feed the homeless, I clothe the homeless, uh, I help them to find jobs. I've mentored to those who want to give up, and this Fall, we are announcing
that I am starting my own national talk show, that is called "Rising Diamonds with P. Chatman". It's a woman's empowerment show. You know, these women that we see everyday that are bosses, and CEO's, founders, and inventors of their own companies, of their own businesses and I want to [share] their story, because everybody has a testimony, and if you are a boss lady, if you are a director, if you are a CEO, you've been through something that allowed you to keep pushing into your destiny...more women need to share their stories to encourage other women to do not give up. All of us have a past, whether they have been a drunk, or a thief, or something, we have a story and we need share that. Some of us walk around other
people as if we have never done anything in our life, and we want to judge others. I don't judge other people. If I can't help you, then I ain't gone fool with you, you know. But we as women, we have to learn to help each other. Reach back and grab one. Q: Am en ! Well you ver y w ell m ay k n ow , Black Gir l M agazin e is a Ch r ist ian pu blicat ion , an d w e cover n ew s, an d in f or m at ion , an d cu r r en t / h it t in g t opics, an d w e do so f r om a Biblical, as w ell as Spir it u al per spect ive. Wh at w ou ld be you r s, if you cou ld give u s a sm all spiel or t est im on y on w h at God h as don e f or you ? Wh at w ou ld you say t o t h at ? A: Well, I guess my testimony would be that I have been in television for 25 years on a TV station that went up for
sale, and I knew I wanted to I wanted to get out of television and do something more in the community, but I didn't have the willpower to actually walk away, because I never walk away from anything, I have to be pushed out. Um, and so, the TV station went up for sale and the new owners wanted to pick their own people, and so what they did was, the old owners allowed some of us to go ahead and take a severance and go ahead and leave, because they were probably going to bring their own team. And so I was sitting at home one day and and tears began to fall, and I said Lord, what now? What's good now?...You took me from the only thing that I knew, which was television. That was the only thing that I knew, that I loved, my passion, my purpose, and he kept saying, "Better days are
are coming, and I'm going, how could better days be coming? Because, if you know, in the Mississippi Delta, there is only so many pockets of television [stations]. Well, I am proud to say, that I am honored to own my own national, and global TV network that is on Roku, it's on Amazon Fire Stick, it's on several student devices, it's on Apple and Androids, all of that, and God has gave me my own! He said, "You shall loan and not borrow", and I am telling you, it has truly been a blessing, to be able to help someone. So many people around the world...When you look at my TV network, you see show content that are from New York, from Florida, from Miami, from St. Louis, from Houston, from Denver, from Dallas.
I mean from around the globe. And then when you look at my analytic's, to see who's watching. When you see people from France and Paris, and India and Australia, and Russia, and Germany, and Spain, and Netherlands, and Canada watching you...He made me exactly what He wanted me to be. When I was young, my granny used to tell me, "One day, every little boy and every little girl will know your name". And I would say, 'we sitting way back here in these boondocks, in the country, how is everybody gone know my name?"...And so I want everybody to know, that my Grandmother prayed for me, and the will of God has always, and will always come to fruition!
