We all love holidays, but January begins on an all-t ime high as New Year's Resolut ions are put in place, gym rout ines st art , and a much needed day of silence t o review your plan should t ake place. January is afresh and anew and should you be also. As I t hink back over t his last year I am t hankful in regards t o t he wisdom, and knowledge gained, and just overall opport unit ies t hat were present ed or came my way. I am excit ed t o be back int o t he full swing of t hings wit h t he magazine and can' t wait for you, our readers, t o enjoy more news, not ewort hy comment ary and a lit t le more fact s checking and st at ist ics as a result .


We want you to be informed and able to make great decisions regarding your life. We encourage you to continue to fast, pray, and seek the Lord in those areas where you need clarity or "on point" revelation. We also encourage you to continue to read Scripture so that you know what the Bible says and ultimately what it means for you in this moment, time, and hour. You should be informed about the things that are happening in our world, but don't let it inundate you. As a child of God, we have to remember what God's word says and we must use and apply that scripture too. Also, take this hour to master your ministry, and use it to shed light on the world. And finally, we want you to sit back, relax, and enjoy reading this publication.

Did you ring in the New Year with a precise set of dictates for 2019? Well, your not alone. Most adult individuals look forward to this time of year. An opportunity to wipe the slate clean and start again. Whether your desires are the coveted "lose weight", "make more money", or "go back to school", resolutions do give some direction as to which way you want your life to go for a short while. The key is however, is to remain focused. If I could impart any suggestions to you for this year's "must do list", what I would like to say to you is give your self time to accomplish a few set ideas, rather than place yourself up against a whole wall of "things to do". In life, we must have BALANCE, and believe it or not, God requires it. He can not give you that new job you've been asking for, with more responsibility and a much harder work load when you can't even mange the smaller things . Before setting your GOALS, be realistic. Ask yourself the cold, hard questions. Set up three separate list's. One entitled "wants", a second entitled "needs", and a third entitled "goals". All three of these lists' combined is a great starting point for you to make a

realistic and well-directed set of resolutions for the new year. For example, if your desire is to purchase a new car, however you can't really afford one, if this choice falls under the "needs" list, as opposed to the "wants" list, then you have some strategizing to do. If having transportation is a need for you right now, then you must start where you are, and build upon that. Ask yourself, do you have money saved , or at least a reasonable down payment? If the answer yes, great! Set a budget, and write down a "wish" or "must have" list for your new car. After you have done this, begin to shop for a vehicle that fits your particular financial situation. Now, if your answer is the opposite, and you want a car, but can't really afford one, then you must re-direct your list to meet/accomplish your financial needs such as: get a new job, or request more hours at work, or start an aggressive 6 months savings plan. Finally, if a new car is your goal, combine tactics from the two aforementioned strategies and go forward.

Staying saved, is serious business. In today's climate, more so than ever! With the advent, as well in increase of digital and social media platforms, instant access to various lifestyles and pop culture choices are blown up and sensationalized to the point that you may think it is okay for you to "slip and slide" or "dip" just a little bit, then ask for forgiveness, and it should be okay, right? I mean, don't get me wrong, the Bible clearly states, and this statement is true, "For we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23 (KJV). But does this mean that we continuously give ourselves over to "diverse temptations"? Certainly not! Just as with the previous scripture reference, the Apostle Paul is clear about repeated un-Godly, un-holy , and unacceptable behavior: "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" Romans 6:1-2 (KJV) The Apostle goes even further to cooborate his statement in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (KJV): "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor nor effeminate, nor abusersof

themselveswith mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God". No Christian should ever fool themselves into thinking you get a pass by participating in the same behavior and activities that the world does. In fact, as a Christian, you should know that you have not only been washed, but also "set apart": "But know that the Lord hath set apart him that isgodly for himself" Psalms 4:3 (KJV) Then finally, consider the mighty words of the Apostle Paul, one more time: "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he isa new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV). Let's not sugarcoat it. Before you were saved, you needed a Savior. Then once you got saved, you may have needed a Deliverer too. If God or Jesus Christ delivered you from all of the things that you used to do, why interrupt your new life, your clean slate, and essentially your ticket into eternity with your


Creator and heavenly Father just to fall back into the "world" or even more "diverse temptations".

During temptation, God gives us a "way of escape", and never gives us "more than we can bear".

That's just like the former drug addict or alcoholic returning to their old "watering hole" or place of getting high. That's cardinal rule number one for anyone in recovery. Stay away from old faces and old places.

When you walk with the Holy Spirit, God assures your victory in him. The Bible says:"But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipersshall worship the Father in spirit and in truth; For the seeketh such to worship him in spirit and in truth" John 4:23-24 (KJV)

Well the same applies to you my saved brother or sister. Once God or Jesus Christ has delivered you out of something, you don't go back to the old things that which you used to be binded by.

In this hour, you must stay saved! Flee from those things that God does not want you to, and also wills for you not to do. Never "quench" the Holy Spirit, your clear and present help when being re-directed from a situation, person, place or thing.

So where does this leave you, you might ask? I would pray fasting more, attending church or Bible study more, spending time with the Lord more and surrounding yourself by other believers, and within social circles that support your Christian walk.

When you have been delivered and "set free", stay that way. There is not one, single, solitary thing on this earth that is more important than your walk with God , and your relationship with both He and Jesus Christ.

You must also rely upon the help that Holy Spirit gives you, which puts you eons ahead of the world: "Therefore, hath no temptation taken you but such uscommon to man: but God usfaithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it" 1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)

Yes, we all do make mistakes, and when you do, ask your heavenly Father and Jesus to forgive you, and move on. For a more clear directive from the Apostle Paul, as well as expectation from God, please read all of 1 Corint hians 10. 21


A TIME FOR CHANGE By S.L.M . Robles You've been contemplating about it for quite some time. This type of change goes far beyond the rudimentary New Year's Resolution. In, fact, if this change is not executed superbly, could alter the course of you life...FOREVER. Sometimes life will present us with a major decision to make. You know, those gut wrenching decisions that just seem to be amazing or to difficult , no matter how you look at it. However, at the end of the day, a decision, and a solid one needs to be made. Dear reader, trust and believe, you are not alone! We have all had to face those



type of decisions, with each choice painstakingly rendering you thoughtless, speechless, and until you make one, decisionless. As a Christian publication, we know that our clear and present help comes form God or Jesus Christ. You, the reader, are no different! As a Christian, you never have to face making a monumental decision alone, again. The Bible teaches us that: "Ask and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock and the it shall be opened unto you" Matthew 7:7 (KJV) . And also, "You have not because you ask not When was the a last time you asked

God for help? Did your thoughts, plans, or decision making include him? We have to ask ourselves these powerful questions so that we may know where we stand. Is your major choice in alignment with God and his will for your life? This should be the first question that you ask yourself when facing a major decision. Was this "situation" something you just thought up or was there divine inspiration, or a "call from God" so to speak for you to do it? If God sits at the helm of this major decision, and he has guided you thus far, he will continue to do that. Even when times seem like and get


or have gotten, a little "uncomfortable". You are better of suffering any day being in the will of God, then suffering aimlessly on your own with no plan, no direction, and no covering. The point is, when life presents us with a major choice or decision, you must get out of self, listen, and allow God the direct your path. The Bible says: "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths" Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV). Child of God, there you have it. Lay your petition before the Lord and leave there, and...expect an answer. When it comes to your life and what God has for you, your decision need to be "on-pint" and "accurate". Don't spend another day toiling over that thing, however, pray about it, and let God do his work. You have everything you need in God and Christ Jesus to make the right decision. And, if feel like your relationship has not quite been where it used to be, or where you think it should be, you must now make a concerted effort to get to know your creator - God, and your Savior - Jesus Christ. Make time for them both today!

M AKE IT A FAM ILY A FFA IR By S.L.M . Robles Family time is so important. It is a time to get together, get know one another, and foster relationships that hopefully last a life time. God honors your marriage and your family too! Families help us grow, make us strong, nurture us, and overall provide the framework for which you will be working with in regards to family and life. Whether your family was good, or not so good, I want to encourage yo today because we are all apart of God's Spiritual Family. Did you ever find a "play aunt" who loved you like nobody's business? Or, were you your granddad's "partner in crime?" If you are blessed to have a family, and your family is an inheritance from the Lord, delight in

them whenever you can. Read Psalms 127:3-5. If you have children, family time will enhance their overall emotional, developmental, and social skills. If you have customarily been a shy person/adult, then you will benefit from these interactions also, as you learn to navigate and perfect your communication skills and ability to be comfortable around others. Families have to spend time together to develop the "ties that bind". Close families can rely upon, trust one another, and become successful as a unit in many joint ventures. Don't let Satan tell you that you should not honor, not love, be jealous of, or hate your family. It's not Biblical, nor it is it Godly.

Plants are a phenomenal way to decorate any home or office. You would be amazed at how simple changes can have a major impact in either of these spaces. In keeping with our "Simple Touches" beautification theme, this month's chosen home decor topic is the House Plant. Plants can not only make your home more appealing and enjoyable, but there are also health benefits that come along with having them. According to www.ambius.com, some of the benefits of having house plants are as follows: - Reducing carbon dioxide levels. - Increasing humidity. - Reducing levels of certain pollutants, such as benzene and nitrogen dioxide. - Reducing airborne dust levels. - Keeping air temperatures down. In 1987, Reese moved to New York City to attend the highly coveted Parson's School of Design. Upon her graduation with an accelerated degree in 1984, Reese begin to work under Martine Sitbone at the firm Alequin. Reese worked for several other fashion design houses, including landing the job as Design Director of the Women's Portfolio for Perry Ellis, all prior to launching her own label.

Reese launched her own fashion label, of the same name sake, in New York City in 1998. By St eph an ie M axw ell-Robles When I first met Tranea, I was then, like herself, a student at San Diego High School. Back then, she had a lot of spunk. She was outgoing, and possessed an almost larger-than-life personality, so, I was not surprised to find out that all these years later, this "go-getter" was the co-owner and CEO of thriving tax business and a soon to be opened fashion boutique/store. Through social media, I was not only able to follow her, but also get caught up on this rising star's life. Uniquely, I also saw the hand of God over her life and felt lead to ask if I could interview her.... Here is what she had to say:

making it, I just decided to step out on faith and I became a tax preparer for another 's persons company. And, I was able to make some good money. I was still a 1099 person, an independent contractor, and I still wasn't you know, getting hourly pay, and I still wasn't getting any type of benefits, but I found potential in preparing taxes.

I did pretty good my first year, so I decided to go ahead and open up my own franchise and next thing you know, we became, in my opinion, a great franchise. As a matter of fact, it's my husband and myself. So that's where it started off. I had no choice but to become an entrepreneur basically. But, I'm glad it worked out like that for me.

Q: Am en , pr aise God! You m en t ion ed a

Q: Tell us about your background and ver y good poin t ear ly on , r igh t of f t h e bat , how you got st art ed in business? A; Well, the way I got started, I was pretty much forced to become an entrepreneur. Because, I don't know if you know, growing up in my younger days is San Diego, I made a couple of bad decisions and it caused me to have a horrible background. A background where I couldn't just work a good job and get paid my worth. So after so many rejections and no second chances, there was no other way for me to do it...I worked temp jobs were I was an independent contractor where I didn't have any benefits, and basically, they just were not going to hire anyone with a "situation". So I basically worked those kinds of jobs for like five years, and they changed the little background situation [again] after 911 happened. So, after me just barely

A: It's a hard thing to grasp, like when I first moved to Georgia, I moved to Georgia because I didn't want to stay in San Diego and fall back into that same element. I needed to get away from that because it was easy for me to start back doing what I was doing because that's where it was at, and everyone knew me for those things. And so people were contacting me [saying] "I go the hook-up for this", "I got the hook-up for that", or whatever...it's hustle.


So I just left San Diego, but I moved to Georgia as a grown woman with two kids. I was making $7.25 an hour for real, and that didn't work. I could not take that because how was I going to take care of my kids?

something like that because I can relate. I can see through them and know if they are going to be doing something or not for my company.

I believe everybody deserves a second chance. And a lot of people didn't believe I deserved a second chance, that's why I had to become an entrepreneur, and I 'm always here to help anybody become their own bass. That's the only way to be anyway.

I had enough to buy my kids school clothes, and I paid my rent. I worked two different jobs. One job was just because [of that]. I worked at the Waffle House. Another job, I worked for a nursing home. It was actually an Alzheimer care unit, and I had to manage those two jobs. I had to pay for my kids school clothes and food. The other job was Q: How h as God k ept you , sh aped you , an d strictly for the bills and I barely made it, m olded you ? Have you k ept h im at t h e f r on t of t h is pr ocess? Tell u s h ow God h as however, I never gave up. been in volved in ever y st ep of t h is? When I first stepped into the actual taxes, I was honest. And after a while, I started telling people, "I been in trouble before, this is what it is, you either accept it or not, I'm not that person anymore".

So, someone gave me a chance, so I do the same thing. I don't hold a lot of things against people. I make sure that the person working for me me understands they are responsible for their actions, and I cannot allow them to jeopardize what I built because I understand...I understand that there's temptation out there, especially when there is an easy hustle, and its fast. But I also know that it shuts you down and sits you down. I was without my kids for 13 months.

I understand that when you come home its a fight, so I give everybody a chance. I don't hold nothing against you, what you did. Actually, I don't have a problem with someone that has a prior conviction or

A: Well, I have, that's the only way, and it's my husband. When things get really, really scary for me, it's just a lot being a business owner, because you sacrifice a lot of money and a lot of time. It's been so many times when I've been like, "Oh my gosh, we are short on this", or "We are not going to be able to have that", and I look at my husband and I'm like, "why aren't you worried, why aren't you stressed?", and he reminds me "God's got us"...."What are you tripping off of?". I said, "Your right, it always works out some kind of way".

So, ever since than, even if I feel like I'm up against it, I'll just remind myself, "God, you got me. Your not going to let nothing bad happen, your going to make it work". And that's what I say to myself, and I know that we'll be alright. So he's been there since day one, I just wasn't paying attention. And it wasn't about faith, I was just all over the place.


Q: An y w or ds of en cou r agem en t you w ou ld lik e t o give som eon e goin g in t o bu sin ess?

A: Yes, everyone in my opinion should go with what your dream is, what ever your vision is. Don't let anyone stop you from doing what you visualize. I write down what I want, how soon I want it, and I complete those goals.

I do that every year, or every six moths, and I don't let anyone tell me, "well, I think your going overboard". I do what I want to do with my vision, and I don't let up on that, and I think everyone else should do that.

Q: Pr aise God, Am en ! An y f in al t h ou gh t s or closin g com m en t s?

A: Um, I'm so excited. We're going to do bigger and better things each year. My next move is to try and bring my kids on board, with them coming out with a couple of their own brands under Next Level and it's a family thing. That's another thing, I need to put this out there, like it's not just me and my husband. Our kids work for us in our tax offices. We have a daughter that's going to be over the make-up , and the hair, and the actual jewelry portion of our store. And we're just a family thing basically.
