END OF SUM M ER...NFL Wow, I can't believe it, another hot , and long summer in the bag! So much taking place throughout the month of August and a great deal of it noteworthy. As the summer break wines down, parents and kids alike get ready for "back to school", and if your lucky, this month is also a great time to catch that last minute vacation in case you missed it a the top of the season. She is most recognized and known for her work on Black Panther (2018), Selma (2014), Malcolm X( 1992) and Amistad (1997). As a graduate of HBCU (Historically Black College/University), Hampton University, Ms Carter 's career actually began as a costume apprentice for the Santa Fe Opera. According to www.wikipedia.com, Ms. Carter has over 40 film credits under her belt, and has "mastered the look of multiple periods and genres in envisioning the clothing and overall appearance of the character or performer ". During her near 30 year film career, Carter has been nominated three ties for the Academy Award for Best Costume Designer. In 2019, Carter won the Academy Award in the Best Costume Design category for her work on Black Panther. She is the first African-American to win an Academy award in this division. Maxwell-Robles In case you have been on another planet, there has been a recent development in the entire racial inequality / Colin Kaepernick bending his knee during the national anthem as a means of peaceful protect against racial injustice in this country/where do we go from here now, to the recent involvement of the NFL, and a business contract made between them and mega, super rap star Jay-Z. Having been an advocate, activist, and a voice for many years against the racial proclivities, injustice and inequality issues the plague the Black community, and having rapped about it, which also by the way, included him calling out and having a clear stance against
the NFL for the backlash that Kaepernick received for his protest (He was Blackballed by all NFL teams and consequently not hired by any to play). In addition, to add further insult to injury, Jay-Z was invited to perform for the 2019 Super Bowl game which he declined due to the treatment of Kaepernick. As of late (less than 14 days ago and in time for this issue) Jay-Z was invited by the NFL to enter into a contract where he would be responsible for curating the line-up of entertainers for the Super Bowls coveted Half Time Show , as well as providing entertainment in general and knowledge and guidance on special racial inequality projects.

Many have come forth, myself included and questioned the specifics of the deal. Many have criticized Jay for not bringing Kaepernick to the negotiating table, since he initiated the protesting from the onset, and because of how vocal he was in regards to the NFL's treatment of Kaepernick. Jay-Z asked those in entertainment to refuse an invitation to perform for the Super Bow's half time show, and he also in the past wore a jersey to his hosting of and performance on the Saturday Night Live scripted "Colin K 7"on the back of it. As of late, during the recent press conference held with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Jay-Z, during the Q&A, Jay -Z stated, in response to some of the questioning, that "we have moved past the knee, I think its time to move into more actionable item?" According to the EEOC:, the U.S> Equal Employment Opportunity Commission: "Discrimination involves treating someone (an applicant or employee) unfavorably because he/she s of a certain race or because of personal characteristics associated with race (such as hair texture, skin color, or certain facial features.) Color discrimination involves treating someone unfavorably because of skin color complexion". As per stated on the EEOC website: LAW ENFORCED BY THE EEOC: Tit le VII of t h e Civil Righ t s Act of 1964 (Tit le VII) This law makes illegal to discriminate against someone on the basis of race color, religion, national origin, or sex. This law also make it illegal to retaliate against a person because the person complained about discrimination, filed a charge of discrimination, or participated in a employment discrimination investigation or lawsuit. The law also requires that employers reasonably accommodate applicants' and employees' sincerely held religious practices unless doing so
would impose an undue hardship on the operation of the employer 's business. According to the ACLU, one of the largest and oldest civil liberties organizations in the United States history, Racial Profiling "occurs when law enforcement and private security target people of color for humiliating and often frightening detentions, interrogations, and searches without a evidence of criminal activity, and based on perceived race, ethnicity, natural origin, or religion." Also according to the ACLU "Racial profiling is patently illegal, violating the U.S. Constitution's compromises of equal protection under the to all and freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures...Just as importantly,racial profiling is ineffective, it alienates communities from law enforcement, hinders community policing efforts, and causes law enforcement to lose. And then, finally, lets review the Equal Protection clause as it is stated in the 14th Amendment
of the Us Constitution. The clause states this: All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. --- Un it ed St at es Con st it u t ion . This report will not be a pleading recap of the countless thousands, or perhaps even hundred thousands or even millions potentially here in the United States and most definitely world-wide who have either experienced or tragically lost their life as a result of racial profiling. What this report will be is a criticism and earnest look at the individual and corporate bodies whom God has endowed with his word, knowledge, training, teaching, power, authority, and
his Holy-Spirit, yet they have somehow remained silent on the most critical issues of the day. How can we call ourselves the church and we don't stand up united on issues such as this? Racism, discrimination, and Racial Profiling as we mentioned earlier, has lead to an insurmountably number of people being harassed, beaten, humiliated, intimidated, and even murdered due simply to their race. God did not place us here with a voice, and all of the aforementioned attributes just to "pass through",yet the church, Black, white, or otherwise remains silent, why? How can the church call itself the church, especially the Black church, whom won't stand up and address the issues Biblically-wise, church-wise, spirit-wise, social-wise, Christ-wise or Holy-Spirit wise? We have been complacent and ineffective while our children and generations have shamelessly died in the streets and by the hands which we knew ultimately to not only be racism, sexism, and
and every other type of "ism"m but the Devil, and we have yet to take a hold of him. I am advocating for a separate city and separate state because quite frankly, Black and Christian lives depend on it. Let's see what this world, country, and the nations will look like once Black thought, culture, life, influence, input, contributions, and stake are removed. Again, why is the church not standing up, taking authority,taking action, and addressing the issues that plague our lives, children, families, communities, society and wold today? And finally,what impact will the church make and what type of legacy or inheritance will they leave for the future generations, and when will the Black man, woman, child, and family stand up and take their rightful place in the world?
Lif e s t y l es By S.L. Maxwell-Robles What does it mean to be a Christian Back man today? That may seem like an unusual question, but think about it. What types of choices and decision do you make in life based upon these two factors? What ever it means, I know that God, your creator love you, and each and every one of us was placed here with a purpose. The type of choices we make and they type of "lifestyle" we create with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will ultimately determine the outcome our lives? Sure, I admit, none of us are perfect, but are you at least giving it all that you have in life towards accomplishing those things that God has given you to do. I mean, think about it, what is more important that doing the
will of God? In your life, church, home school, or job?...Nothing. Some people strive everyday to make the right choices and decisions despite themselves. But I am here to tell you, a life with God calls you to be better than that. Why just try to survive or meagerly get by. Don't you know that your heavenly Father wants so much more fore you? Take the time today and consider your lifestyle. Is it truly reflective of who you are, your hope, your goals, your dreams and who God called you to be. If currently not, that's okay, because life with God is a process, however, choose now to allow God to order your steps, and make solid plans towards those things he has called for you to do today.
