by S.L. Maxwell-Robles Has life got you down? Are you hard pressed to do much of anything, especially for yourself, and yet alone spend time with God? As Christians, we have all had those pressing moments in life. Bills are due, kid's are out of control, and certain situations that arise are so bizarre that it could only be none other than God himself preparing you for more or what's about to come down the pipeline But yet and still, in a world that thrives on individualism and self-reliance, we must always be able to reach back in our "church" tool box and retrieve those very important tools that we have learned upon the way. Self-reliance is a fallacy and ultimately separates one from their clear and present help

which is God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Truth is, if you neglect one, you are neglecting them all. As Christians, we have been given the awesome, and dynamic opportunity to not only know God, but also have him personally know us. Once you have believed, received, and accepted the messages from the Bible, from our initial creation, to our "expected end", and ultimate salvation, then you must also know that doing the things that the Lord tells us to do, and on a regular basis is paramount. When we are mindful of, and doing those things that God and his Holy Scriptures calls for us to do, we are automatically taking time for God.

In fact, the key to success in this life is spending time with God! Be it in his word, the Bible, or attending church, through prayer and worship, Bible study, or being apart of any of those activities that require you to learn, and hear the precepts, commandments, expectations and/or requirements of God. And, unless you put yourself in the position by follow God's leading, or direction for you to go to the aforementioned venues, you won't learn or know his word, which means you won't know him, and you will

struggle. Spending time with and getting to know God is not just a notion. It is a requirement for your salvation, and will at the end of the day determine where you will spend eternity. If you find that you are struggling to make the choice or decision to spend time with God, always consider this key scripture verse: "But seek ye first kingdom of God, and hisrighteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Mat t hew 6:33 (KJV).

LIFE, LIVING, LOVING!

Is this your current situation! If so, I love it! We all know that a life in balance can, and does take time. I remember when I was younger, and I used to hear older women on television talking and they all seemed to have re-occurring themes. At a certain age, or should I say level of maturity, the thoughts of others no longer mattered. The unsolicited opinions and advice on what was their "truth" is no longer existed. They all begin to speak in honesty, and say what's on their mind. And yes, we can still find this same type of "dogma" if you will, in Christian circles today. Ecclesiastes 3, so lovingly, wonderfully, powerfully and perfectly describes the concept or idea of one's "season" in life. The first few versus read: "To every thing there isa season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck up that which is planted" (KJV). This chapter goes on for another 20 versus and gives rhyme and reason to every situation under the sun that we as humans will experience. We as humans, and especially as Christians can and do experience so much in this life time. And if you have finally reached a certain age, or simply a time in life and it's your adjoining

"season" to enjoy your life, living and loving, I salute you! I salute the fact that you have also come to the realization that God is in control, and at the appropriate time, and if you let him, we can all enjoy a life full of all of these same elements. And the best part is, you are in control of how you manage the attributes during the process or along the way. You regulate your "joy factor", not others. And, even if you have not "arrived", there are certainly baby steps that when added up along the way, equal to monumental success at the end of a "course", "trial" or "thing". Also, learn how to give yourself a pat on the back if know, as many Saints like to say, "I'm not where I want to be, but thank God I'm not where I used to be'! We must celebrate progress at every level. Now, take time to "smell the roses" while you track, monitor, and keep a marker of the goals in life or things that you are working towards. God blesses us even more when we have an "attitude of gratitude" and can be grateful, or find the "silver lining" even while in the storm. Next, it's your life, God gave it to you, so live it! Both you and God are the co-creators of your story. You don't need permission, approval, or notoriety from others when living your life on your terms with God at the helm. And finally, I hope that you all will enjoy LIFE, LIVING, and LOVING!
