FROM THE BOARD CHAIRMAN
WELCOME TO THE 25th YEAR OF THE ANTIQUES & GARDEN SHOW OF NASHVILLE The Board of Directors and I are so pleased to be celebrating this important anniversary year with you. We hope that you will enjoy this year’s theme of STYLE. Our 2015 show chairmen, Julie Fleming and Kae Gallagher, have worked tirelessly with hundreds of volunteers to bring you this exciting and unique event. We are thrilled to welcome keynote lecturer and style icon Diane Keaton to the show. We are also pleased to have Blackberry Farm’s Kreis Beall and top designer Suzanne Kasler join us on Saturday. As you walk the show floor, you will be among over 150 antiques and horticultural dealers here from across the country and Europe. While we are saddened by the recent death of honorary chair Oscar de la Renta, we hope you will enjoy the gardens inspired by Oscar and his wife, Annette de la Renta. We are also so thankful for our show sponsor TVV Capital and the corporate sponsors, media sponsors and show patrons who make this event possible through their generous financial support. It is this support and your patronage that has allowed the show to raise nearly $6 million for Cheekwood and local charities supported by the Economic Club of Nashville. We thank you for your support and hope that you enjoy the show!

FROM OUR SHOW CHAIRMEN
Julie Fleming and Kae Gallagher
Welcome to the Antiques and Garden Show of Nashville 2015. We are so honored to be the chairmen of the 25th year of this tremendous event. Connie Cigarran and Sigourney Cheek created this inspired concept over two decades ago and it has been replicated all over the country since. Their dedication and vision remains the constant thread and has cultivated Nashville’s Antiques and Garden Show to be one of the largest and finest in the country. Thanks to the groundwork of all of the previous chairs and the commitment of countless volunteers, we are proud to celebrate this tradition in STYLE. The show had been so fortunate to count one of Nashville’s greatest treasures, the late Albert Hadley, as a longtime supporter and visonary. His watchful eye and expertise helped nurture the show and brought in some of the country’s highest caliber designers. We are delighted to have his sketches from his private collection here at the show this year for sale. When we were brainstorming about the show last spring, Annette and Oscar de la Renta came up as ideal Honorary Chairmen. They are avid gardeners and design enthusiasts and we knew they’d be a great fit for our Show. Annette was a dear friend of Albert’s and happy to be a part of something Albert so loved. We were saddened by the death of Oscar de la Renta and decided to honor him with our gardens. As you’ll see, the five gardens include a unique nod to the late designer – each cloaked in tremendous STYLE. In keeping with the theme, we are excited to present Diane Keaton as Keynote Speaker! Our lecture series promises to enlighten you with inspiration and brilliant STYLE. We are honored and delighted to welcome all of our headliners to our amazing city! We are very grateful to our show’s sponsor, Andrew Byrd of TVV Capital, for 25 years of continued sponsorship. We truly appreciate the support of our corporate and media sponsors, golden benefactors, benefactors, patrons, A&G Board, committee members, dealers, gardeners and the entire Nashville community. We are thrilled you are here and hope you enjoy the show! Julie Fleming & Kae Gallagher 2015 Show Chairmen

HONORARY CHAIRM EN
ANNETTE & OSCAR DE LA RENTA “ Gardening is how I relax. It’s another form of creating and playing with color. ”
- Oscar de la Renta
We are so honored to have Annette and the late Oscar de la Renta as our honorary chairs. To celebrate our 25th year, we revisited Albert’s impact on the show and discovered the de la Rentas were not only his clients, but Annette was also a dear family friend. The three collaborated on several projects and homes. Best known for his fashion empire, Oscar and his wife, Annette, were also avid gardeners and lovers of all design.
ALBERT HADLEY “ Decorating is not about making stage sets,
it’s not about making pretty pictures for the magazines; it’s really about creating a quality of life, a beauty that nourishes the soul.” - Albert Hadley
The story of American interior design cannot be told without a good portion devoted to the career of Nashville-born Albert Livingstone Hadley, Jr., America’s preeminent interior designer. Hadley’s handiwork is found anywhere restraint, flexibility of style and contextually appropriate design are valued. During more than 30 years as one the two principals of Parish-Hadley Associates, the decorating firm of choice for bluebloods and society types, Hadley’s talents attracted so many artistic disciples that his aesthetic DNA is now found virtually everywhere one finds tasteful and timeless interiors. Hadley’s work is legendary, not solely through association with famous clients and legendary rooms such as the Kennedy White House and the homes of Brooke Astor, Babe Paley, and Happy Rockefeller. He’s not one to coast on legendary works or a star client roster. In a 2004 interview with New York magazine he said, “But names really are not the point,” he says. “It’s what you can achieve for the simplest person. Glamour is part of it, but glamour is not the essence. Design is about discipline and reality, not about fantasy beyond reality.”
A select group of rare sketches by Albert Hadley will be on display and available for purchase at the 2015 Antiques & Garden Show of Nashville Preview Party.

ANDREW W. BYRD For more than 20 years, thousands of Middle Tennesseans and visitors have been “o-o-o-o-ing”-and-“a-a-a-a-h-ing” at the treasures and landscapes of the Antiques & Garden Show of Nashville. As the event has entered its third decade, one man who has been there since the beginning will again be there, a quiet but giant force behind the show. He may not always be in the spotlight, but his support to ensure its success always is present. Andrew Byrd knows much better than most the benefits a community gains from continuity in financial and volunteer support of fundraising events. He was chairman of the 1988 Nashville Lawn & Garden Show, one of the forerunners of the current event. The other preceding event was the Antiques Show at Nashville’s Cheekwood. The two events merged in 1989 and moved downtown to the thennew Nashville Convention Center. “The two, formerly separate shows merging into its current format was unique at that point in time,” Mr. Byrd says. “The result is a fantastic symbiotic relationship because the gardens provide such a great setting for the antiques. It is one of the most beautiful and successful shows of its type in the country. The success of our show is attributable in part to the visionary leadership the Antique & Garden Show received in its startup phase.” But Mr. Byrd’s roots run much deeper than his initial involvement with the Lawn & Garden Show more than two decades ago. He is a past president of the Exchange Club of Nashville, a past chairman of the Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, a past president of the Boy Scouts of Middle Tennessee, and a founding member of the Economic Club of Nashville. The Economic Club charities and Cheekwood are beneficiaries of the proceeds from the event. In addition to his ties with the Antiques & Garden Show, Mr. Byrd, his father, and his wife have all held volunteer leadership positions at Cheekwood, a 55-acre botanical garden and art museum located on the historic Cheek estate in Nashville. Byrd said, “We believe in the show and its mission and what it contributes to our community. It is wonderful to live in a community where people possess that deep sense of service that binds us together. Nashville is a great city and it is important for Nashvillians to support institutions that help create a quality place to live. That is what this show really does — it helps make Nashville a beautiful place to live, year after year. It is our responsibility to maintain shows and programs like this in our community.” He added, “Thank you to the Friends of Cheekwood and all the people who have worked so hard over the years. They have put so much time and effort into this event, and it continues to pay dividends for our community.”

KRE I S BE AL L OF B L AC K B E R RY FARM :
THE PASSION OF DESIGN Founder and Director of Design at Blackberry Farm — an award-winning, 62-room Relais and Chateaux hotel and resort in the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. Kreis Beall, the multi-talented founder of the acclaimed luxury destination Blackberry Farm, defies simple description. As entrepreneurial as she is artistic, the Tennessee native’s varied experiences — hotel proprietor, chef, photographer, interior designer, intrepid traveler — all share a common thread. That thread is Beall’s passion for the art of living, her love of beauty and her knack for transforming big dreams into real, uncontrived elegance. Like her mother and grandmother before her, Beall works tirelessly to curate thoughtful, hospitable environments and experiences. Ever the gracious host, she’s often overhead saying, “The answer is yes… What’s the question?” — and she means it. Intuitive in approach, yet relentless and disciplined in execution, Beall’s projects reflect another can-do credo she attributes to her Southern, matriarchal predecessors: “Good, better, best. Never let it rest. Till the good is better and the better is best.” Drawing on that philosophy and years of celebrated commercial and residential design work, Beall founded Blackberry Design in response to numerous design commissions and client requests. From rustic to refined, coastal to contemporary, her work quickly earned recognition and commissions not for their signature, singular aesthetic but their easy, approachable attitude — optimistic, inventive spaces that effortlessly balance classic style with modern comfort. Today, Beall serves as Director of Design for the full-service group, which includes a talented team of designers and associates who share her tenacious spirit and commitment to truly livable luxury. The team’s work focuses on creating Blackberry Farm’s serene, award-winning interiors, as well as select private commissions on and off the property.

An expression of style can take many forms – fashion, art, architecture, design. Defined by casual elegance, Suzanne’s classically inspired rooms, pretty palettes, comfortable spaces have been published in major design magazines, including Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, House Beautiful, Traditional Home and Veranda. She has been named to Architectural Digest’s AD100 and Elle Décor’s A-List. DESIGN PANEL LECTURE
PRESENTED BY
SAT U RDAY, JAN UA RY 31 , 2 015 • 1:00 P.M . Book signing before the lecture.
Michael Devine Michael Devine was raised in Illinois where his passion for all aspects of design was nurtured. He studied art history at the Ecole du Louvre, French at the Sorbonne and cooking at the Ritz Escoffier. It was his two years in Paris that honed his eye and continue to inspire his work. He returned to New York and spent over six years as style and party editor at HFN Magazine where he covered the glittering design world on both sides of the Atlantic. It was this experience that gave him the drive to create his bespoke fabric collection of modern traditional hand prints, Michael Devine Ltd. His textiles are known for their desirable chic hand-crafted look. He left the magazine world in 2006 to pursue his design passion full-time. He found a charming property in the upstate village of Kinderhook, New York, where he continues to refine his aesthetic and craft in his studio. Devine’s fabric are frequently featured in the world’s top design magazines and blogs, including House Beautiful, Elle Décor, Traditional Home, Quest, British House & Garden, The World of Interiors, Remodelista and All the Best. His fabric collection was chosen by French Elle Decoration as Best of International. His Kinderhook apartment was featured on HGTV’s Small Spaces Big Ideas. In 2010, he designed a beautiful shed as a bloggers retreat for the Berkshire Botanical Gardens annual summer exhibit “Living in Nature”. It is in Kinderhook that his love of gardening took root and he has created his acclaimed, charming Jardin de Cure. His garden has been featured in Country Living Magazine and Woman’s Day Gardening & Outdoor Living. He has also been featured in the New York Times “Shopping With” column. His first book, An Invitation to the Garden: Entertaining, Cultivating and Cooking through the Four Seasons was published by Rizzoli International in the spring of 2014.
Jane Scott Hodges From early in her career, Jane Scott Hodges has set herself apart from her contemporaries in the design community with her custom linens that are at once beautiful and practical for today’s reality of muddy paw prints and spilled cocktails. At the heart of Jane Scott’s effort has been to pair luxury with real life in a way never before done. As the founder of couture fine linens company Leontine Linens, Jane Scott Hodges is credited with reviving the art of couture linens for home. As an innovator of, and authority on, fine linens, she is known for her ability to introduce heirloom quality luxury linens and accessories for everyday use. More so, Jane Scott took the heritage driven concept of the monogram and rejuvenated it with a modern sensibility, incorporating unique styles and unexpected color. Jane Scott’s custom linens can be found in the most beautiful private homes across the country and abroad, from historic estates to modern penthouses. She collaborates with the most preeminent interior designers and architects for projects of every scale. Her linens have been featured in shelter magazines worldwide, including House Beautiful, Elle Decor, Traditional Home, and Town & Country. Jane Scott is a passionate philanthropist and supports many organizations, including: Preservation Resource Center (New Orleans), Hermann-Grima + Gallier Historic Houses (New Orleans), The Bone Marrow Foundation (New York), Lenox Hill Neighborhood House (New York), Bluegrass Conservancy (Lexington), St. Joseph Hospital Foundation (Lexington), The Bluegrass Trust (Lexington), New Orleans Museum of Art (New Orleans) and New Orleans Botanical Gardens (New Orleans). To this day, there is nothing Jane Scott loves more than showing up on a client’s doorstep, trunk in hand, ready to design beautiful linens that are the perfect reflection of the client’s aesthetic and lifestyle. LINENS: For Every Room and Occasion is the perfect culmination of nearly 20 years of Mary Poppins moments, designing beautiful linens that can be enjoyed and not just admired. 14
Markham Roberts Markham Roberts, a New York-based interior designer, has been called “a master of timeless American style” by Vogue. Known for his ability to work in any design vernacular, Markham brings a modern approach to classic design. His work is not defined by signature gimmicks or design trends, but rather by a distinct refinement and subtlety that is largely unknown today. Using an inventive combination of layered pattern and color, as well as a bold juxtaposition of fine furniture and works of art from around the world, his interiors have been described by House Beautiful as “the very definition of chic.” Born in Indianapolis, Markham graduated from Brown University and trained with the late Mark Hampton for six years, before opening his own firm in 1997. Markham has earned the reputation as one of the top decorators of his generation. Markham Roberts and his work have been published in Architectural Digest, Domino, Elle Décor, House Beautiful, House & Garden, Southern Accents, Town & Country, and The New York Times. He has been named to the AD100. Markham’s monograph, Decorating: The Way I See It, published by The Vendome Press, showcases his refreshing approach to interior decoration, taking readers step-by-step through the design process. In vast New York City apartments, historic estates on Long Island, ocean-side Florida mansions, stately Southern and Midwestern houses, rustic Montana ski retreats, and modern Puget Sound compounds, readers will see his diversity and sophistication as a decorator exhibited through 40 distinct examples of his work, including three Nashville projects. Finally, Markham puts all of the pieces together, using his own country house, a 19thcentury gentleman’s farm in the Hudson Valley, as an example.
Christopher Spitzmiller Christopher Spitzmiller’s iconic ceramic lamp designs draw inspiration from classical forms and traditional gem-like glazes. He began his career in Georgetown in Washington, D.C., where he worked out of an old school house near Dumbarton Oaks. Shortly thereafter, his work received critical acclaim, and his reputation as a noteworthy ceramicist began to emerge. In the summers, he worked from Mecox Gardens in Southampton as an artist-in-residence and such designers as Albert Hadley, Richard Keith Langham and Suzanne Rheinstein began to commission his work. Since 1996, Christopher has been concentrating his efforts on his unique lamp designs. In the fall of 1999, after outgrowing his Washington studio, he moved to New York City, where he now creates his one of a kind lamps with his crew of skilled artisans. The lamps are of timeless appeal and luxurious quality. Beautiful classic forms are drenched in bold vibrant rich glazes. Each one-of-a-kind lamp is set in a hand-turned hardwood base, which is water gilt with 23k yellow gold or 9k white gold for a silver finish. Currently, Christopher is expanding his designs to tableware and other ceramic accessories. Christopher’s work is often featured in celebrated publications, such as Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Elle Décor, Departures, The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. He has had the honor of making lamps for the current Oval Office, the past two White House Administrations, as well the Blair House and other distinguished American homes. When not in the studio, Christopher can be found at his farm in Millbrook, New York gardening, beekeeping, making jam, or tending to his flock of heritage-breed chickens. He also enjoys the pleasure of giving back to the community by serving on the board of the local, time-honored Lenox Hill Neighborhood House and as Vice Chair of the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club President Dinner.

ASK AN EXPERT SAT U RDAY, JAN UA RY 31 , 2 015 • 2:30 P.M . Join Margot Shaw of flower and Jane Scott Hodges of Leontine Linens, as they create four magical tablescapes ranging from rustic to formal - complete with Leontine linens, china, stem and flatware and simple go-to flower arrangements and containers to suit each design. Margot Shaw was a late bloomer when it comes to the art of floral design. A self-proclaimed “calland-order-flowers girl,” Shaw reached a watershed moment when planning her daughter’s at-home wedding. Working alongside the floral and event designer, she recognized the artistry and inspiration involved in “flowering” and soon began apprenticing with that same designer. After a few years, still enamored with all things floral but unable to locate a publication that spoke to her passion, she set about creating one. With a clear vision, a deep appreciation for beauty, a facility with words, a hometown (Birmingham) uniquely geared towards publishing, and the advice and counsel of generous industry professionals, Shaw launched flower. Since its debut in March 2007, flower has continued to grow at a steady pace, recently moving from quarterly to bimonthly and available in all 50 U.S. states and 17 countries. Jane Scott Hodges is credited with reviving the art of couture linens for home. Haute House A distinct and exotic garden space where fashionably elegant individuals convene in style. Anne Daigh: I’m a storyteller and a landscape architect. At first glance, those things may seem unrelated, but once you understand who I am and how I work, you’ll see they’re actually one and the same. I tell a story with every landscape I create. I launched my company in fall 2010 following 8½ years with Page Duke Landscape Architects. My job with PDLA brought me to Nashville after earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Georgia. Though Georgia born and bred, I set roots in Nashville, quickly becoming part of the story of the 12South neighborhood that I call home. I’m currently helping The Urban Agrarian Movement by designing a community garden on 12th Ave South. annedaigh.com

Throughout the mid-South, architects, designers and building professionals value our knowledge and problem-solving techniques. Our millwork graces homes and commercial buildings with inspirations drawn from early period architecture through the 21st century. We take pride in preserving the elegance of yesterday while building for tomorrow. vintage-millworks.com SO UT H G AR D E N : PAG E | D U K E LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS
Flora•Fashion•Fantasy Oscar de la Renta–a name of legendary import–fires the imagination with images of sumptuous fabrics effortlessly brought together into season after season of supremely elegant fashion...or is it art? Amazingly, his world of high fashion was deeply inspired and nurtured by his early fascination with horticulture and the magic of water. Our garden attempts to evoke the melding of those two worlds in his career and pay homage to one of the true creative geniuses of the 20th century. Guided by client’s wishes, PAGE|DUKE mission is to create landscape and garden designs that are thoughtful, beautiful, inspiring, and timeless. These relationships are based on mutual respect, and the utmost in service and exceptional design. Disciplines of expertise include landscape architecture, land planning, and urban design for residential, community, and institutional clients. Regardless of the project size, PAGE|DUKE develops designs that are appropriate in scale and function. Projects range from intimate gardens and outdoor living areas to expansive public spaces and estates. Both classical and modern theories may be used in the design process as it relates to each project’s specific architectural style. Methods incorporating sustainable solutions that reduce environmental impact and enhance natural ecosystems are consciously used for the benefit of humans and animals alike. In all endeavors, whether creating a private courtyard, teaming with an architect and interior designer on a new home environment, or master planning a public garden, the focus is always to serve the owner and achieve an extraordinary vision. pageduke.com

“Gardening is how I relax. It’s another form of creating and playing with colors.” – Oscar de la Renta
Kathi Gilleland‘s love for plants began at an early age. Gathering, dividing, planting and weeding have always been a part of her life. Kathi developed her craft at The Village Gardener and later at Botanica, under the tutelage of Stephen Wells. In 1997, Poise & Ivy was born and Kathi’s clientele expanded from Nashville to include Tampa, Chicago and Los Angeles. She works closely with architects and designers to create container gardens that are beautiful, unique and hardy. Brian Gilleland has worked in the Middle Tennessee landscape industry in every capacity from installer to designer of a labyrinth, vegetable gardens, and complete landscapes. Whether through the renovation and maintenance of an existing plan or implementation of a new design, his goal is to draw people into nature by enhancing the natural attributes of the landscape around them. Together, Brian and Kathi combine their experience, knowledge and talent to create unique spaces that reflect their clients’ taste and gardens’ spirit. facebook.com/poiseandivy Lance Alvis has provided Nashville with residential construction management, fine carpentry finishes and custom cabinetry for over 20 years. The Living Room A floral homage to Albert Hadley, this hand-painted hallway is full of botanical grandeur. Gold accents adorn moss enveloped furniture to create a living living room. The nimbus flower chandelier floating above your head is made of roses, spider mums, solidago, lilies, and orchids. This space is blooming with butterflies and fragrant flowers – a true floral fantasy. Phillipe Chadwick‘s flower designs are consistently show-stopping and vibrant, yet elegant and sentimental. His arrangements make any event meaningful and personal. He always gets people talking. He knows just the trick, because at his core, Phillipe is a catalog of knowledge about plants and flowers. His first love is gardening, and he has tended garden styles ranging from heirloom vegetable to Japanese. Phillipe Spencer Chadwick was born in Nashville and still lives here. He received a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Mississippi State University in 2006. Then he started working as a Landscape Architect, managing civic designs for the city of Franklin, TN. In 2009, Phillipe joined Cheekwood as a horticulturalist, and catapulted them to a new level of hip. He stressed keeping all designs provocative and cutting-edge, but at the same time aesthetically pleasing. He breathed life into Cheekwood’s gardens, transforming them into lush scenes of texture and color. He adorned Cheekwood’s special events with fresh, bright flower arrangements. Then Phillipe decided he’d strike it on his own. Through a dense personal network, Phillipe has established a strong reputation in Nashville for crafting memorable weddings and impressive visual spectacles for events. His resume includes The Antiques and Garden Show, the TPAC gala, and Chukkers for Charity. Occasionally he hosts Volunteer Gardener on NPT. Phillipe continues a tradition today. He gives every client close, one-on-one time and attention to decide how their magical ideas can literally be transformed into reality. Phillipe’s professional attitude is the epitome of class and style. Likewise, his designs never fail to impress. phillipeschadwick.com

CELEBRATING 25 YEARS Twenty-five years ago Connie Cigarran and her dear friend, the late Sigourney Cheek, had a vision to combine their love of antiques and their passion for gardening into a unique event that had never been done before. In 1991 the Antiques Show at Cheekwood had outgrown its space in Botanic Hall, and the Lawn and Garden Fair, benefiting the charities of the former Exchange Club of Nashville, now the Economic Club of Nashville, was ending a very successful 15-year run. Martin Roberts, a Cheekwood board member and an Exchange Club member proposed the idea of uniting the two fundraisers. Connie and Sigourney led the charge and created the spectacular Antiques and Garden Show of Nashville, a show that has been dazzling and inspiring visitors ever since. Connie and Sigourney were quick to solicit the help of Nashville native and renowned New York designer, Albert Hadley. Albert served as honorary chair of the show and graciously lent not only his name but also his vision, expertise, and connections to ensure that from the very beginning the Antiques and Garden Show of Nashville was an event of the highest quality. Albert was instrumental in acquiring many of the show’s speakers, including internationally known designer Bunny Williams, who has been an incredible supporter. He also had suggestions for dealers and gave significant input into the show’s floor plan. Perhaps most importantly, Albert wanted the annual Preview Party, though large in size, to be a warm and welcoming event. He suggested a receiving line with the party chairs and show chairs, along with others connected to the evening, to greet guests upon their arrival. That’s tradition that continues today. In the past twenty-five years, the Antiques and Garden Show of Nashville has grown to include over 150 antiques and horticultural dealers placed among breathtaking gardens. As many as 15,000 visitors come each year to hear enlightening lectures, wander the gardens and purchase fine antiques and inspired horticultural pieces. Throughout the years, former show chairs have continued to remain actively supportive and deeply involved in the event. This is directly the result of the example set by Connie Cigarran, whose name is synonymous with the Antiques and Garden Show of Nashville, and without whom, this extraordinary Nashville tradition would never have been born.

Jaume Plensa: Human Landscape MAY 2 2 – N OV E MB E R 1
Cheekwood is proud to bring the massive sculptures of internationally acclaimed Spanish artist Jaume Plensa to Nashville in 2015, organizing what will be the largest Plensa exhibition in the United States to date. Featuring nine large-scale outdoor sculptures, indoor installations and a selection of works on paper, this major exhibition will travel nationally following its debut on Cheekwood’s historic grounds and within the Museum of Art. Plensa’s work currently on display in the United States includes Crown Fountain in Chicago’s Millennium Park and Echo, formerly on view in Madison Square Park in New York and now permanently sited at Olympic Sculpture Park at the Seattle Museum of Art. The recipient of many awards and accolades, Jaume Plensa was most recently awarded the 2012 prestigious National Visual Arts Award of Spain and the 2013 Velasquez Prize awarded by the Spanish Cultural Ministry. Plensa has created new works specifically for this exhibition, including a double sculpture entitled Soul of Words to be displayed on the prominent Robertson Ellis Color Garden lawn. A new, 23-foot tall monumental cast iron head, Laura with Bun, will grace the entrance of the grounds. The museum galleries will house Plensa’s interactive works, including his 2003 Silent Rain, a hanging screen composed of literary phrases, poetry and the artist’s own words designed to be disrupted by visitor foot traffic. In addition to the installation at Cheekwood, a portion of Jaume Plensa: Human Landscape will be presented at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts in downtown Nashville. Cheekwood is excited to join with the Frist Center to create a unified, multi-setting art experience for the Nashville community.

WHO WE ARE
MOVING FORWARD
The Economic Club of Nashville (ECON) provides a dynamic forum for community leaders to discuss economic, social and political issues of special interest to Nashvillians. We are a service club that engages with local businesses and government officials, and we support key nonprofit organizations that contribute to the quality of life in the greater Nashville area.
The Economic Club remains committed to its historic mission, and many of the existing initiatives will continue, only with greater resources staying in Nashville to support them. ECON will continue its support of the Exchange Club Family Center and other Nashville charities.
WHERE WE CAME FROM ECON draws its history and tradition from the Exchange Club of Nashville, one of the largest clubs of the national organization. The Nashville Chapter was chartered April 16, 1920, to support the national mission: “Exchange, America’s Premier Service Club, working to make our communities better places to live.”
ECON AND THE ANTIQUES & GARDEN SHOW Since 1991, our club and Cheekwood have co-sponsored the Antiques and Garden Show of Nashville. This show has become the club’s main fundraising activity, allowing ECON Charities, Inc., to contribute more than $1.5 million to local charities.
32
The Economic Club of Nashville Charities launched its Cultural Assistance Program in 2014. CAP partners with some of Nashville’s most vibrant cultural intuitions and several social services organizations to provide tickets to children and their families. CAP started as a simple solution to the chronic issue: How do Nashville’s less fortunate find access to our city’s exceptional cultural offerings? Nashville is home to nationally recognized Botanical Gardens, Symphony and Opera Companies, Children Theatre and of course the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. With the help of CAP and the Economic Club of Nashville, these doors have been swung wide open for those less fortunate among us.

BENEFICIARIES The Antiques & Garden Show of Nashville combines spectacular gardens, fine antiques, and horticultural items into one outstanding three-day show. Located in the Music City Center in vibrant downtown Nashville, the show’s 150+ exhibitors, renowned experts and fabulous gardens make it the ultimate destination for new and ardent antique collectors, avid gardeners, those seeking design inspiration, and anyone who enjoys a breath of spring in the midst of winter. Over the past 24 years, the volunteer-managed show has raised nearly $6 million for Cheekwood and ECON.
CHEEKWOOD Cheekwood, is a 55-acre estate built by the Maxwell House Coffee fortune in Nashville, Tennessee, and one of the finest examples of an American Country Place Era Estate in the United States. The Botanical Garden is a spectacular showcase of color and horticultural diversity with eleven specialty display gardens and stunning natural landscape. The Museum of Art has collections of painting, sculpture and decorative arts and has rotating exhibitions. Visitors can enjoy year-round family-friendly activities with four distinct festivals held during the year. From Cheekwood in Bloom with more than 100,000 tulips in the spring, to a spectacular display made up of more than half a million lights during Holiday LIGHTS, Cheekwood celebrates the seasons in style with something for everyone!
