A pleasant day greeted those in attendance for this year’s Studer/Gilman bull sale. The bulls offered were of the highest quality with individuals that will work in a variety of breeding programs. Several of these bulls were members of groups in the pen show at the recent Cattleman’s Congress in Oklahoma City. They had many friends at that show and it was evident with their acceptance in the sale. Congratulations to all involved in the presentation of a quality event. $33,500 - Lot 39 - ShorthornPlus Bull - Gilman’s Liberty Valance 25J. A red, polled February 10, 2021 son of Leveldale Cowboy Up 820F and out of Gilman’s Durham 5F. This was a tremendous young bull and had a ton of interest prior to the sale. He is one that has the structure and body mass that all want. He had an IMF scan of 6.22 which is off the charts for that category. He will be a breed improver. Offered by Gilman Shorthorns and purchased by Bowman Superior Genetics of Greens Fork, Indiana. $21,000 - Lot 1 - Bull - Semen Interests - Studer’s Hammer Time 43H. A red, polled February 2020 son of Leveldale Rockford 838F and out of Muridale Sonya 119A. This is a tremendous bull. This massive two year old has already had a successful show career and is now ready to add superior structure and style to his offspring. His confirmation and look go with cat like movement when he walks. Those breeders that purchased semen interests will reap the benefits of his genetics. Offered by Studer Shorthorns and purchased by The Hammer Time Group. $6,000 - Lot 20 - Bull - Gilman’s Stagecoach 35J ET. A red, polled February 19, 2021 son of Byland Soggy Dog 7TM73 and out of Gilman’s Robin 512C. This is a top son of the popular Soggy Dog that had a lot of friends. He was a member of the Reserve Champion Pen of Three at the Cattleman’s Congress. His overall structure and thickness were admired by all. He can add the performance that everyone wants in their herd. Offered by Gilman’s and purchased by Cedar Lane Farm of Cedarville, Ohio. $5,500 - Lot 41 - ShorthornPlus Bull - Gilman’s Chisum K5J. A roan, polled March 3, 2021 son of Leveldale Cowboy Up 820F and out of JSF Blue Belle 86F. This was another top Plus bull in this sale. He is big hipped and long bodied. He has the bred in performance to make him a top sire in his new herd. He will add pounds and muscle to his progeny. Offered by Gilman’s and purchased by Roger Richter of Adair, Iowa. $5,000 - Lot 35 - Bull - Studer’s Jack Pot 90J. A roan, polled March 31, 2021 son of Saskvalley Fresno 177F and out of DSF Velvet 57B. This is a really good young bull that has a great EPD profile. His performance numbers will translate into more pounds in his calf crops. His low birth weight EPD makes him a great bull to use on heifers. Offered by Studer Shorthorns and purchased by Greenbelt Shorthorns, Ronald Gooch of Honey Grove, Texas.=
