Every year before the NFL draft, league executives and industry experts express the mass quality and talent in that year’s class. With that being said, some years are just built different. The potential on the top end is simply higher and the quality seems to go on forever. For example, the 1983 class had Dan Marino, John Elway, Jim Kelly, and Eric Dickerson along with 42 other pro bowlers. Year after year we strive to assemble the most forward and competitive set possible. This is the product of a lot of vision and dedication with Super Bowl sized goals and the willingness to back it every step of the way. With our 53rd Annual Family Event sale we couldn’t be more eager for you to join the team on a set that has the potential to be very memorable.

We’re planning on heading to the coast and hope to see you in Maryland! We know it’s a long way out there for some parts of the country and plan to do everything we can to assist in getting your heifer to the show.

HALF INTEREST FEMALES

Owner will own 100% of the animal. Schrag Nikkel will get half of the embryos from each flush, with the cost of the flush being split. Semen on all our bulls will be available at no cost.

This is the way I envisioned kicking off the Family Event several years ago when we decided to move forward with Schrag Nikkel Show Cattle. Two very special heifers, that embody a lot of hard work and vision, with a group of our favorites littered throughout their pedigrees. It’s not just due to their quality that makes them special, but also the stories behind them. The combination of the Dream Lady influence on the top side and Max Rosa on the bottom side is a perfect recipe for genetic excellence. Sired by SS Inferno, who has quickly risen to a must-use sire, and backed by SS Max Rosa 029, better known as just “Rosa” exceeded all expectations with her first litter of ET’s. 029 was a dominant show heifer for Kane Aegerter, hanging the Reserve Supreme banner at Junior Nationals, 10 years after her dam, 1110 did the exact same thing at Junior Nationals for Sammi (also the year we met!). These two heifers are different but very high quality in so many ways. I won’t tell you which one is better because I think it’s a coin flip, all I will say is that they are national quality. I could write on and on about these two. Both bring so much good to the table. If you’re going to put on an event, you can’t go wrong with these two kicking things off. TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Terms of the sale are cash or check made payable to Schrag Nikkel Show Cattle to the clerk immediately following the sales and before the cattle are removed from Schrag Nikkel Show Cattle. Purchasers or their representatives must sign the bill of sale prior to leaving the sale.

BILLED ACCOUNTS

All billed accounts are due and expected within 10 days of the sale date. At 10 days, a two percent service charge will be added to the unpaid balance and an additional two percent will be added every 30 days.

LIABILITY

Each animal will be at the buyers risk as soon as sold, but will be cared for by the seller’s for a reasonable amount of time. Neither the owners, employees, auctioneer, sale managers or the affiliated personnel can be responsible for any accidents, but they will make every effort to provide for the safety and comfort of those attending.

BREEDING GUARANTEE

All animals sell guaranteed to be fertile, Exceptions: 1) Disease, or injury occurring after purchase; 2) bulls being run with herd prior to 14 months of age. Schrag Nikkel will guarantee open heifers to breed; however, please keep in mind that animal conditions influence fertility greatly. If there is a problem, we would want the females to be returned to us to be bred, Open heifers that have been transplanted are not guaranteed. In the event that an animal will not settle with the efforts of the buyer and seller, a sale credit in the amount of the purchase price will be issued to the buyer that can be used at any time on any animal, flush, semen or embryos sold by Schrag Nikkel.

All animals sell with complete pedigrees or applications for registration.

INSURANCE

Insurance will be available for your purchases at the sale through Cindy Cagwin-Johnston.

SEMEN AND EMBRYO PICKUP

Arrangements must be made for pickup of semen and embryos within 6 months or sale is void.

Each animal will be represented by a state approved health certificate for interstate shipment. Buyers should make themselves aware of the health requirements for their respective states.

HERD HEALTH MANAGEMENT

All cows are routinely vaccinated for Lepto, Vibrio, IBR, P13 and BVD. All calf hood vaccination include 7-way and Pinkeye, IBR, P1, BVD, and BRSV. Heifer calves are bangs vaccinated. Pastrurella hemolytu-ca and Hemophilius sommus.

FLUSHES

Schrag Nikkel Show Cattle reserves one flush of eight or more grade 1 or 2 embryos at our expense on all females selling.

EMBRYOS

Guarantee one pregnancy on each package of embryos sold if implanted by a certified technician. In the event that a pregnancy is not confirmed, an additional embryo will be received.

ABSENT BIDS

Mailed or telephoned bids will be handled in a most confidential manner. If you are unable to attend the sale personally, simply contact a representative of the sale team; Cory Schrag; or any other sale representative listed in this catalog far enough in advance prior to sale day; they will be able to assist you at ringside on sale day.

All jokes aside, 2120 has always been my favorite female in the donor battery, and it was a sad day when we had to say goodbye to the ol’ girl here recently. However, she went out with a bang with this group of heifer calves. I could get poetic with it but these heifers simply put, our just flat out fun! If you want to blaze a path on the show road, I would look no further. They are so big and unique in their muscle patterns, yet so sound and feminine looking. When I look at this female I think she has an abundance of future. She’s one that’s a shot greener, but with a little patience, I think she could be one of the best big heifers in the offering come next fall. We’ve had a lot of these Propel x 2120 heifers and I think this is one of the more unique ones we’ve had. She’s so squared hipped, and immediately catches your eye with an unbelievably cocky head and neck. She just kind of knows she’s good. She is also the dam of Kennedy Arthur’s many time champion in 2021, who was named the Reserve Supreme at Junior Nationals and Supreme at the American Royal. They just keep coming and coming, my very thoughts as Jaxon and I clipped these girls for pictures. This heifer some swag to her. This chromed up heifer is so stout and big boned, and gets around the pen with ease. I just can’t stop thinking about all the fun someone can have on the show road with her. On top of being a great show heifer, another one I think will be fun to breed on. Her dam was a 3rd Overall Bred and Owned female for Jaxon several years back and has become a great producer for us and one we should definitely flush.

Two fun facts about me is that my favorite color is blue and I love these Primo x Demi 650 females. These two blue tinged females just make sense as can’t miss show heifer prospects. They are both huge bellied and high tying, with the wheels that keep on turning! Demi 650 has been a can’t miss donor, this past year raising the Illinois State Fair Champion for Stetson Reedy, the OKC Division winner for Braylee Kraisininger, and Junior National Champion for the McGrew family. A past Denver champion herself, these Demi females are absolutely blazing a path, and I expect both of these females to follow suit as their sisters in finding the purple.

I got the opportunity to go through the Goering calves and take a few this year and boy I’m glad I did. My cousins Taylor and Trenton showed some very competitive heifers over the years and have assembled a very high quality cow herd. This chromed-up, dual registered female is one that gives you a very commanding look. One that has some added width and dimension, travels good, with that ultra balanced profile. I think this heifer will be very competitive for somebody year round, and will go on to be a very versatile donor for her new program.

Schrag Nikkel was born at the 2021 NAILE, when I decided to plop down on one knee on a fitting mat in the midst of dressing NAGE Raquel 187H and ask Sammi to be my wife. It was an awesome moment, and to be honest the reason I chose that time was because of the female in the chute. Raquel was Sammi’s favorite heifer in the show string that year, she absolutely loved her. Sammi and Jaxon went on to flush her to Primo and boy did they nail it. I have loved this heifer for a while now. She is as hairy as a Maine Angus female that you will find, and built so so well. A true gem right here! I have been a big fan of this female from the start, it’s simply hard to build them so correctly. This heifer is such a cool combination of being unbelievably sound on the go while still having some hip, top shape and belly sweep. Mob Boss is a Memphis Mafia son that cleaned up our black cows this year and really knocked it out of the park. Her dam is an awesome Angus female from the Bush program that is a maternal sister to Bush’s Unbelievable. Jalynn’s Magic 7033E, or known around here as “Betty” has been a cornerstone donor for us for several years now. She has clicked with just about everything we’ve flushed her to. She was a great show heifer for Sammi, and translates a lot of what we loved about her into her calves. She had a great attitude, was massive legged, hairy, and so good muscled. I really think she outdid herself this year. Both of these females are big time. We do not have the largest offering of Chi females, but it’s very high in quality. If you’re looking for heifers that will be fun to show from the start, I’d study pretty hard here.
