Watson Ecosystem
2.5 billion gigabytes of data are created every single day. That’s the equivalent of 170 newspapers being delivered to every man, woman, and child on the planet. Information is proliferating at an accelerated pace, and it’s simply overwhelming. In fact, the amount of information created in the last two years alone eclipses all the information created since the beginning of time.
What if... ...a system could help us reason over the universe of data, information, and knowledge that informs the decisions and work that we do, every day? ...we had a new set of tools; technology that works with us?
Introducing Watson Watson is a system that’s built to mirror the same cognitive process that we use to understand the world around us, and with its ability to learn and navigate the language and protocols of specific industries and contexts, and communicate in natural language, Watson is revolutionizing the way we learn, reason, make decisions, and discover new things – all at incredible scale. Watson enables the art of the possible; a world where perpetual discovery and instant access to insights are the new standard. Where humans and machines work together to unlock new ideas and find solutions to previously unsolvable problems.
Watson is helping us reimagine how we interact with others, how business gets done, and how our professions are being transformed.

What does it take to equip our Cognitive Ecosystem?
We’ve been focused on a couple of things: First, it’s all about the APIs. We started out with one service, focused on Q&A. Today we have eight, scaling to dozens more. »» We’ve introduced simple, intuitive tooling and methodology to significantly shorten the development cycle; empowering our partners to build and deploy faster and get to market quicker. »» Our portfolio of Cognitive Services are available on BlueMix, so our partners can get started, right away. Its agility allows our partners to scale and add new technologies, and also Beta test new services as they become available. Second, we’ve introduced a content store to provide the foundational information that developers need to jumpstart their cognitive applications. »» We have content that’s deeper, broader, richer, and more consumable.

Defining a Great Use Case There are many ways that our partners are bringing Watson to life across businesses and industries. The best way to develop your Watson use case is to start thinking about three things:
1
What is the problem you’re trying to solve?
2
How would Watson’s capabilities solve that problem?
3
How would you take your Watson-powered application to market and make it a business success?
