Young Adult Council Application 2009-2010 Please return this completed form to: Steppenwolf Young Adult Council Steppenwolf Theatre Company 758 W North Ave, 4th floor Chicago IL 60610 Fax: 312.335.0808 THE YOUNG ADULT COUNCIL is a unique after school program for passionate and motivated high school students who work to organize events for their peers around Steppenwolf productions, in hopes of inspiring a new generation of theatre enthusiasts and practitioners. In addition, Council members learn the inner-workings of professional theatre from the most celebrated artists in the city. They attend the best plays in Chicago and learn how to analyze and speak about these plays. Council members receive a stipend for their commitment to rigorous and exciting work. TIME COMMITMENT: During the school year, The Young Adult Council meets EVERY Wednesday from 4:30pm-6:00pm at the Steppenwolf Administrative Offices, with the occasional Saturday or Sunday commitment. Council members are allowed three absences per semester, with occasional exceptions for outside theatre commitments (this must be prearranged with the Council leader). Summer commitment is equally rigorous but more flexible in terms of meeting times and absences. Please make sure you can make this time commitment before applying. Applications may be mailed, faxed or dropped off at the Steppenwolf front desk at the above address between 9am-5pm Monday through Friday. All applications must be postmarked or dropped off by May 10th, 2010. Form A (Professional Recommendation): This form should be filled out by a teacher, guidance counselor, religious leader, etc. who can speak to your work ethic, responsibility and artistic curiosity. They should fill out the provided questionnaire, but may also choose to include a separate letter of recommendation.

Form B (Personal Recommendation): This form should be filled out by a friend, roughly your age, who can speak to your personal character. Please, only have your friend fill out the questions provided.

Letters of recommendation may be mailed separately but must arrive by the application due date.
