WATERMELON GOJI Believe it or not, basil actually enhances the natural flavor of watermelon. You can choose to either blend the soaked and plumped goji berries into the final drink, or leave them whole as juicy little morsels. M A K E S A P P R O X I M AT E LY 16 O U N C E S
3 cups seedless watermelon, rind removed 1 handful fresh basil 2 tablespoons goji berries
Juice the watermelon and basil. Add the goji berries, mix well, and let the berries steep for 15 minutes until they’re saturated with juice. Juice may be blended to fully incorporate the goji berries, or enjoyed as is, with the plump goji berries adding a lovely textural addition.
JUICE BOOST Use purple basil instead of the green variety to produce an even more stunning red color in the juice—and take advantage of its heart-healthy anthocyanin antioxidants. Look for purple basil during the warm months at farmers’ markets, or grow it at home in your herb pot!

BLOOD ORANGE & SEA BUCKTHORN MIMOSA Blood oranges, with their appealing ruby-colored hue, make mimosas appear extra special, and sea buckthorn berry juice gives the mix a subtle honey flavor. An added bonus from sea buckthorn: skin-rejuvenating nutrients. If blood oranges aren’t in season, use another orange variety like Valencia (substituting will not affect the flavor). 6 medium blood oranges, peeled î – 2 tablespoons sea buckthorn berry juice 2 cups champagne, chilled
Superfood Juices | 192
Juice the blood oranges and mix with sea buckthorn berry juice. Fill champagne glasses halfway with juice, then top with champagne. JUICE BOOST Add 1 teaspoon maqui berry powder to the mixture.
ELECTROLYTE CHIA LEMONADE This “ lemonade” is a staple that I make in bulk and keep in the fridge, so it’s ready whenever thirst strikes; plus the electrolytes and anti-inflammatory nutrients (omega-3s and vitamin C) make it absolutely perfect, pre- and post-exercise. M A K E S 16 O U N C E S
1 cup coconut water 1 cup filtered water 2 tablespoons chia seeds 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice ½ lemon, sliced into thin rounds
In a shaker cup or sealable jar, combine the coconut water, filtered water, chia seeds, and lemon juice, then stir or shake very well to keep mixture from clumping. Add the lemon slices and shake once more. Let the mixture rest for 15–20 minutes until chia seeds are saturated. Shake the beverage once more, and sweeten to taste using stevia or desired sweetener. Best served cold, over ice.

SPICY GREENS How much spice do you like? In this juice recipe, you can adjust the heat level from mild (by removing all the jalapeño seeds prior to juicing), to ambitiously spicy (if you juice the pepper whole), to anywhere in between. I use this juice if I feel a cold coming on because it is low in sugar and high in immune-boosting nutrients, especially vitamin C and chlorophyll. M A K E S A P P R O X I M AT E LY 18 O U N C E S
