1914 – 2014 Commemoration
We would like to make a ‘Field of Poppies’ community quilt to mark the centenary
We would like to incorporate poppies from schools and organisations spanning the generations of our local community
Each individual will make a poppy - it can be knitted
- crocheted
Made using appliquĂŠ
or batik
or patchwork
or embroidered
Or painted onto fabric
Each square must measure 14cm 18cm
2cm
18cm in total Your image should be no bigger than 14cm square We need the 2cm border all round to sew the squares together
So if you knit a poppy
You will need to sew it onto a 18cm square of green fabric
We need poppies of all sizes so we need squares with 1, 2-3 or several poppies on them
The poppies should be red on a green background
The deadline is 11th November 2013 but please send them to us as soon as they are finished from September onwards. It’s big project so we need to start early! They can be left at the school reception or posted to Hayes School, West Common Road, Hayes BR2 7DB or we can collect them if they are local
Please make sure your name and organisation is clearly marked on the back or attached to the square. If you are able to help sew them together please let us know: Sylvia Farrow 0208 462 2767 Or scf@hayes.bromley.sch.uk
If we have a big response we will make more than one quilt. One will be exhibited at the Hayes Village Hall as part of their commemoration.
