St. Francis’ Choral program has been so special to me. I’ve grown so much in my own skills, and I have been blessed with making such good friends with a common interest. It has boosted my confidence, and provided me with an environment where I could really be myself.

It’s been 3 years since I’ve graduated, and every time I return for a visit, I can’t help but get nostalgic and teary-eyed. I never thought I’d survive at an all girls Catholic high school, but I can’t imagine what my life would be like, who I would be, without my experience at St. Francis. Troubie for life!

High school is a wonderful time to try new things and learn new skills. At St. Francis Catholic High School you can explore a rich world of academic and extracurricular possibilities, make real connections with a diverse group of young women, and experience the freedom to be your true self. We, at St. Francis High School, are committed to the task of educating young women to live full, responsible, and meaningful lives strengthened through the curricula and experiences unique to a Catholic school.

SFHS is my home away from home. The teachers and staff members are interested in getting to know the students and that makes us all a family. I have grown so much as a person being in the SFHS environment. It is the place that made me realize that it’s okay to just be myself. The loving and supportive community gave me confidence, support, and a great education. The emphasis is taken off of a typical high school experience and is instead put on personal growth. I like to tell people that SFHS helps people become themselves, grow into themselves, and find themselves. It is a great place for people to find out who they really are without the pressures and stresses of trying to fit in to the typical status quo. Everyone is accepted and loved at SFHS.

Whether it is my table of friends out in Serra Court, or the jam-packed bleachers during spirit week, St. Francis is much more of a sisterhood than I ever expected. Though there are many people in my class I don’t know yet, I find myself looking forward to meeting and getting to know all of them throughout my next years here. I know that my class will only grow closer to each other and the rest of the school as we progress through this journey together, and that is very exciting to me. I am no longer that scared little freshman wondering through the halls, I feel that St. Francis is where I belong.

St. Francis High School prides itself on being a community of faith, excellence, leadership and service - with the emphasis on community. The culture of community is fostered through formal and informal assemblies and gatherings, an attractive campus with a welcoming central courtyard, and a caring and approachable faculty and staff. In a survey of the graduating seniors, each year the sense of sisterhood is reported overwhelmingly as the “best characteristic of St. Francis.

St. Francis is a sisterhood. I felt it when I attended open houses as a middle school student. I sense it when I think about the teachers I know who were once students here. I feel like I am part of something bigger than myself. I love the friends I have made and the way we care about and support each other. St. Francis is a community of truly exceptional young women. We challenge each other and learn from each other. I love the spirit we show during Spirit Week. There is something here for every young woman at St. Francis, and some way for us all to share with our fellow students.

That hasn’t changed two years into my journey. The sisterhood is evident from the moment you arrive.

My experiences with Religion classes at this school have been life changing and truly eye-opening. Religion class here has strengthened my relationship with God, and made me more aware of my faith. It has even allowed me to grow healthy relationships with new friends, and further old relationships. Theology class and especially retreats, gave me the chance to reflect on my daily life, and taught me so many important lessons about love and friendship that I feel I have become a better person. Ultimately, St. Francis helped me be the best Christian I could be and be a servant for Christ.

St. Francis High School shares in the mission of the global Catholic Church. Incorporated into all areas of campus life are the key principles of Catholic Social Teaching: Rights and Responsibilities; Option for the Poor and Vulnerable; Call to Family, Community, and Participation; Life and Dignity of the Human Person; The Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers; Solidarity; Care for God’s Creation. Through classes, liturgies, prayer services, retreats, community events and service projects students explore their relationship with God and how they use their gifts and talents to enrich the greater community.

I have absolutely loved my time at SFHS. The education I got here has made such a positive difference for me. The things I’ve learned, the people I’ve met, the things I’ve achieved, it all made my time in high school great. I mean, I’m very excited to leave St. Francis and go to college, but in 20 years, I would look back at my time here and smile.

In the science lab, on the playing field, in the studio, on the service project‌ St. Francis High School offers countless opportunities for challenge and growth in academic and co-curricular programs, campus ministry, Christian service, technology, the arts, and athletics. Each is a vital aspect of the St. Francis experience.

The idea that everyone at St. Francis has a certain way to fit in and meet people is the best thing about this high school. There is a Hula Club, different intramural and competitive sports, an amazing Art program, and numerous clubs and Academic teams. Every girl who attends St. Francis can fit in easily with the community and make friends.

There are so many things I love about St. Francis. From the awesome teachers, to the sisterhood and the friendships I’ll cherish forever. I came to SF freshman year with high hopes, and they are being fulfilled one day at a time. I love how easy it is to be yourself and express who you are here. You do not have to be afraid to be yourself and do what you love without being judged for it.

I have participated in softball my four years at SF and I have loved this program! It not only has helped me grow in my skills as a player, but also in life as a person. I have learned to work with others on a team to achieve a common goal and how to deal with people who have different views than me. I have overall loved my experience at SF through the softball program.

Being a part of the robotics team has changed my life in such a positive way. It has taught me how to use power tools, how to work with technology, public speaking skills, time management skills, how to work with a team, how to effectively present to a crowd, and how to compete with true sportsmanship. The team has become my second family. I have met so many great people because of this activity.

The answer to measuring success lies in cultivating a love of learning in conjunction with a deeper sense of purpose. At St. Francis, we know that directing your passion to a higher purpose provides a guidepost for meaningful success.

iPad 1:1 Program Following St. Francis High School’s tradition of embracing new methods of teaching and learning, in August 2013 each St. Francis student was issued an iPad mini. Our goal is to reach beyond traditional academic boundaries and deliver to our students the 21st century skills of critical thinking, problem solving, communication, collaboration and creativity by innovating, inspiring, and engaging in interactive and relevant experiences. “With iPads students have the world at their fingertips - anywhere they might be - and the only limitation to what students might do in this vast space is the vision of educators. Increasingly a 21st century education is less about place and more about space. And the iPad has become the leading device in which students can navigate and create exciting new worlds. -edudemic.com

be empowered

I have made friends at St. Francis that I will have all my life. I am able to learn from other people and call myself their sister. I love having a supportive, loving community with me always. The girls at St. Francis are the smartest, kindest and most hard working women I have ever had the privilege to know. We all love and support each other no matter what. My friends constantly teach me new things and they have helped shape me into the woman I am today. Even the girls who I am not as close with inspire me every day to accomplish my goals and reach my dreams. We are lucky to have such a great community.

Each young woman graduating from St. Francis High School has been challenged to her full potential: spiritually, intellectually, artistically, physically, and socially. With knowledge, skills and confidence, she is empowered to be a force for Pax et Bonum, “peace and goodness, throughout the world. She becomes part of a tradition of extraordinary women - the 8,700 alumnae of St. Francis High School who live and work in our community, our nation and throughout the world.

what will your future hold? 23

I graduated over 10 years ago, not with honors or at the top of my class, but at the top of my book. I learned that I could go further than I thought, that I could be anything. What I learned from St. Francis was not just a fabulous curriculum that prepared me for college, but lessons that prepared me for life in general. How to survive, how to stand out in the crowd, how to be a leader. I have two boys, and love them to death, I wish I could send them there! I could not recommend a better school of all the 8 states I have resided in!

From the time she enters as a freshman, a young woman is transformed by her experience at St. Francis. Throughout her journey as a student, she is nurtured, guided and encouraged to explore, discover and become her best self. Graduation, then, is a “commencement” of the rest of her life of learning, leading and serving others — a life for which she is well prepared by her St. Francis education.
