Hello!

If you are new or visiting, we hope you feel at home. If you require help, speak to a Steward in the foyer and take a green Hello Card. Please fill in a Contact Card if you would like to get involved.

In order to give our Children's Team a well-earned break during the summer holidays, we run Summer Sundays. These sessions take place during the morning service, and are a practical and fun way for people to help the kids of our church family encounter God. If you are available for one or more Sundays from the end of July through August, please e-mail.

 There are a number of staff moving on in the next few weeks: Mark Powley (Assoc Rector); Debbie Brenton (Finance); Rachael Fox (Comms); Ben Lees and Hannah Sansome (Ministry Assistants); Kim Mason (ending maternity leave).

We would like to give each a gift of thanks for their ministry. If you would like to contribute you can either give to a named individual or into a ‘leaving gift’ pot via the offertory baskets.

 St George’s Crypt food bank is very low on stock. We are especially in need of tins of potatoes and stewed meat.

  Sun 5 July, Church After the morning service, the Ulrich-Oltean family will be busking and selling buns to raise money for the Bethlehem Centre in Romania. All donations greatly appreciated.

  2-4pm, Sat 11 July, Centre Invite friends and join us as we gather to celebrate a testimony of God at work. Millie Holmes will speak about Lighthouse Network and her recent mission trip. If you would be interested serving at this event then we'd love to hear from you!

   There was a memorable service

 

to mark the closure of Community Church on 14 June.

Christine Shepherd preached from Ecclesiastes on A Time For Everything, in which she said that Community Church was like a small wild flower garden that had brought life and colour to the area. Even though many flowers had come and gone, the seeds of God's Word that had been planted there have been carried far and wide. We give thanks for the life and work of Community Church over the past 30 years and we pray for God’s plan for the future mission of our Parish.

St Barnabas Theological Centre is recruiting for its Independent Leader Track in September and for studying modules in Biblical Studies, Theology, Leadership and Mission. Teaching takes place on Mondays at St Thomas Crookes Campus in Sheffield.

 The Nunn family are visiting the UK next month. If you have any spare clothes for boys age 15, boys age 8-10 and girls age 11-12, please leave them in the blue box by the doors in the church foyer. Thank you!

  7.45pm, Mon 29 June A researcher from the Jewish community has been looking at the parallels between the persecution of Jews and of Christians. He will be presenting his findings to members of the Israel / Palestine Network. If you would like to join us please contact David Kibble.

 7.30pm, 7th July, Elland Road Leeds Citizens community organising group has chosen three priorities for action: transport, health & poverty. The official launch event will be attended by Jonathan and a number of St George's members.
