Combine all three and pass an exhilarating morning exploring the vast expanse of islands, dock a hundred or so meters from the curving shoreline and take a swim, you may even come across a dolphin or two bobbing in the waves. On the way back to shore, stop short of one of Durrat’s many sandy beaches and try a spot of snorkeling. Commonly referred to as the ‘sea cow’ because of its grazing habits, mild manner and resemblance to livestock, dugongs can grow to three-meters in length. After Australian waters, the Arabian Gulf is the second most populated area for dugongs and now you have the opportunity to swim with and discover these mysterious creatures! If the fast pace of a jet ski isn’t to your liking and you enjoy the slower pace of a yacht, then take your family or some friends out on your sail boat to explore. Bring a picnic and spend a leisurely afternoon weaving in and out of the islands. Or perhaps dock near one of the many beaches and swim into shore where the children will be entertained with some beach volleyball while you fire up the BBQ. Having a BBQ at one of the many designated areas around the islands is a great way to meet other residents. Extend the hand of hospitality and invite some of your closest neighbors along. What better way to get to know each other than over a tasty kebab in the perfect seaside setting? The Durrat Business Development (DBD) Nursery has been opened on site to provide a helping hand in ensuring that all of the resort’s green spaces continue to flourish and thrive. Here you will find a helpful team happy to give you some useful advice when starting your new garden. A vast collection of low water and ground cover plants and low maintenance palms such as Bougainvillea, Atriplex, Cocos Nucifera and Veriscolour are available in abundance. Take a spin down to the nursery before the sun goes down to have a browse and pick up a selection of attractive plants that are sure to bring your garden to life and give it a character of its own.
Following a couple of hours working in the garden and watching the spectacular sunset, it’s time to think about having some dinner with some of your loved ones. In the not too distant future, Durrat Al Bahrain will be ready to serve its residents with an extensive choice of fine dining establishments.
