Mega FoodWalk 2017 Emersive Commercial Landscape
Project Narrative Mega FoodWalk is the collaborative design of an enjoyable landscape atrium, relaxing amphitheater, and experiential boardwalk. Within Mega Bangna shopping complex located in the suburbs of southern Bangkok, this extended semi-outdoor food & beverage expansion is designed to create a comfortable microclimate and immersive experience by innovatively incorporating multiple active & passive cooling strategies harmoniously within interactive and tectonic landscape features. The expansion zone represents a marrying of different disciplines to create a unique commercial experience that engages at nearly every corner and path. A unique experience that was created through a truly collective design effort of different disciplines and shared vision with the consultants and the client.
building. The open space is comprised of a split-floor between the ground level and level one above by a 5.5 meter difference in elevation - a challenging issue of providing optimal circulation for the landscape design.
Context In Bangkok’s hot-humid climate, with temperatures reaching 88-95°F (31-35°C) year round and people seeking shade to stay away from the sweltering sunlight, achieving the optimal human comfort zone microclimate in outdoor spaces is difficult and challenging to design comfortable outdoor spaces that would attract people more inclined to seek air-conditioned indoor spaces. The architecture design & layout approaches this issue by establishing a 3-storey building around a semi-outdoor courtyard, filtering direct sunlight with an expansive skylight roof cover, while deliberately creating openings to promote passive cooling from prevailing winds. The courtyard serves as a focal point and main landscape space located at the heart of the helical-circulating
Design Intentions With collaborative efforts of a multidisciplinary team, the landscape architects envisioned the landscape’s roles in this commercial context as an infrastructure for cultural appreciation, comfortable microclimate, and fertile environment for the softscape to flourish. The intention of the design for the landscape centerpiece of the helicalcirculating, universal atrium is to create an immersive, experiential pathway with free-flowing linkages that brings visitors to their destinations conveniently through a captivating atmosphere. In order to create a comfortable and attractive landscape space for the visitors, the landscape architect’s goal is to consolidate innovative design solutions that disguisedly blend with the landscape features.
Client’s Goals The design intention was driven by the client’s, SF Development, vision for Megabangna to be a familyoriented and universal commercial development where every family member can enjoy themselves both together or individually. It is also their goal that all tenants have adequate distribution of visitor traffic for economic sustainability. On top of that, as a shopping complex for everyone, the landscape courtyard must be a universal design, the atmosphere must be delightful, and the design must be appreciated by people of all ages.

Cultural Landscape Appreciation User-based landscape design creates a new way to experience both landscape and shops that are located at different levels. The lower level is dropped to create a sunken plaza space for numerous events yearround. Amphitheater seating with genuine wood finish provides cozy spectator seating throughout the day and night, but more importantly serves as generous crowd access to the lower level plaza from the higher main entrance level of the mall. The pathways are friendly to all users with gentle slopes that are handicap accessible. The experiential boardwalk that floats above the water features and traverses through the forest green, is intersected by crossing granite stone pathways and giant slate slabs stacked to display the contrast in form and color of refined and unrefined material. The landscape design is a very interactive and experiential space that encourages visitors to be in contact with its material design. A major highlight of interactive design can be seen with the water levers made of stainless steel. The handles of the levers were deliberately designed for users to feel the cool rush of water carried through the thermal conductive pipes. Achieving Comfortable Microclimate The microclimate within Mega FoodWalk is controlled by the integration of landscape design and innovative engineering solutions resulting in a waterscape and softscape that became a successful urban catalyst, where adults can enjoy the atmosphere while children line up for the interactive water play. The water features are incorporated with a solar-powered chiller system. The cool water flows along various features in the landscape, as the changing physical form of meandering flows, ripples, and cascades of water delivers an array of water textures and an evaporative cooling effect at each bend. In addition, concealed jet fans create a breezy airflow which distributes cool moisture from the water features’ surface. As a result, the microclimate is adjusted to an ideal human comfort zone while also providing added moisture for plants to flourish. Lush Greenery An integrated cooling system provides additional benefits to the space by controlling the humidity and temperature at an ideal temperature for growth of a softscape scenery. The designed ‘forest’ uses a softscape palette of plants indigenous to a sub-tropical and tropical climate, including various textured ferns, moss and other species, to create complex multi-level softscape that results in a unique commercial space that blends the surrounding restaurants with natural foliage. Shooting up between these lower and middle layer flora, a dozen of Homalium tomentosum (Vent.) Benth. shoot up to the highest floor to visually connect the atrium together. Amidst the lush greenery, a fog system is integrated to maintain moisture levels as well as creating an immersive landscape atmosphere in the form of fine mist. According to the species selected, the plant palette is a mix of sun-shade tolerant species that will thrive under the semi-transparent roofing system to find balance between vegetative growth and comfortable space. Revitalizing landscape element Prior to the renovation, this dry fountain plaza used to be a fountain pond at the edge of a circular plaza. It functioned as a backdrop and buffering elements between the plaza and the parking space. Because its positioned at the edge of the space with the fountains merely as aesthetic element, the management eventually overlooked its maintenance, and it became deteriorated. Algaes took over the pond and it became unwanted.

Our team decided that the pond has to function as an inclusive and dynamic landmark that would bring forth visual attractions and vibrant activities. We decided to turned it into an allutring dry fountain plaza with universal access so that everyone can enjoy it. Beneath the fountain, however, laid a huge water tank that supply water to the mall. Thus, the design touched the exisiting structure lightly and conciously while being able to achieve its goal in serving as an urban catalyst for inclusive and dynamic activities.
Upon the planning and designing of the expansion of FoodWalk, this pond sits right in the middle of the connecting path between the old and this up-coming development. The pond suddently have the potential to 12

Landscape Visual Experience Quality This drop-off was a renovated of a simple tall grass landsacpe that created visual leakage to the unpleasant internal road and parking lots. This was seen initially as a good idea to enhance the the forground of the large entrance mall. However, it overlooked the experiential quality of the space from the main entrance. With ten thousand vehicles passing these roads daily. It soon became a huge distraction to the space within.
The contour of the berm is just high enough to block the view of any automobile outside the lay-by lane while offering view toward the sky. The rib structures may seem dominant in the photograph to the left, but from the other side, these concrete ribs almost disappear. This quality was designed deliberately to create visual distinction and experience of arriving and departing. Visitors driving into the drop-off are greeted with refreshing sight of greenery, while when leaving they would face with order of concrete ribs.
The new renovation of this green island still serves as a central structure for the main drop off of Megabangna Shopping Center. But its main function is a visual blockage between the main entrance and the large parking space.

Re-thinking landscape spaces within a shopping mall To what extend can landscape play in the context of commercial spaces? How can we, as an urban landscape designer, incorporate natural elements into our work? With the professional help of horticulturists and mechanical engineers, we deployed rich vegetative species as elements to create comfortable microclimate as well as cultural appreciation. Although the setting does not allow for complete natural sustainibility, these elements become showcases for alternatives that’s valuable far beyond the conventional air-conditioned big-boxes architectures. The above photographs show a serie of closeups illustrating delicate natural textures
within the landscape looks to create an almost surreal natural ‘forest’ environment. As a result, these landscape artifacts became the forces that drove the visualization and realization of the following project, Mega Park.

Mega FoodWalk Stream Valley Emersive Commercial Landscape ‘Stream Valley Walk’ is located further from the main plaza of Megabangna. ‘Stream Valley Walk’ is a landscape renovation project. The goal for the project is to completely transformed the existing food and beverage corridor into an emersive water-base landscape. The design aimed to embodied cultural biophilia by capturing the experience of natural cascades throuhgout Thailand. Landscape design employed the same design strategy as FoodWalk 2018 by using meandering topographic profile planters to accommodate the existing tree pits. These planters become fields of islands that define spaces in between. The main challenge in realizing this project is to address how water can flow from one side to the other without undermining the structural integrity of the parking space beneath. In capturing the essense of the natural waterway, the goal is not to create a reflective pond or a small pool. Rather, the goal is to create a stream of water that flows continuously so that we can keep a thin water profile With the thin water profile, water must have movement or it would simply be perceived as ponding.

Collaborative Approach
With a 10-17 centimeters thickness allowance and almost 100 meters long water feature, it seems impossible to achieve what we are aiming for. Even the entire water channel is a slope. It will be only 1% slope without any freeboard area. This is not only a design issue that can be solved by one design discipline. We have to work collaboratively with engineers, water specialists, and clients for the best solution. The stream are divided in 3 parts in order to shorten the flowing distance. Their divisions are where the surge tanks are located. These technical requirements are concealed by pedestrian bridges. Each water inlet on both sides is raised to create a gravity flow that would allow the water to move more naturally through the stream. These raised platforms provide many possibilities for water texture to be created. It allows active water play activities to happen in these areas.

Enclosure and Comfortability

Stream Valley Walk is located in a narrow shady but more cozy area. The water feature is introduced as a main design feature. It not only enhances the comforable and relaxing atmosphere, but also creates a continuous flow of space throughout the entire walk. Water curtains create a visual connection from ground level to the level above. It also strategically serve as evaporative cooling agent that cool the temperature.

Surface Continuity
Hardscape and softscape contour blend together from the floor onto top of the berms, creating continuity between the pathways. The walkwayway slopes gently into the waterway, inviting the visitors to dip their toes and experience an array of water features.
Dealing with the invisible
As a renovated project, trees positions are considibly restricted by the exisiting planting area due to the structural integrity and space available for the rootballs. The main undergound structure has to remain the same because of the parking garage underneath while the landscape above has to be completely transformed.

They help diminished the large scale of building massing and make scale down the space to an intimate scale. The trees performs as agents that transformed the spatial structure of Mega Foodwalk. The height of landscape mounds are designed to create sense of coziness while allowing the air flow through the space. The trees sizes are crucial in this sense. Parabolic Fountain and field of stepping stone are added to create an interest for the area. In contrast with an active water stream, the central water feature is designed with one directional flow with much slower flow compared to the others. This area becomes a living space with hanging seats where people could sit and relax on the water. Re-envisioning Commercial Public Park Mega Park is located at Megabangna shopping mall, South of Bangkok, Thailand. It is a new connection from the shopping mall to the future mixed use development where retail expansion, new tourist attractions and residential areas will be developed. The park becomes a major spine that strengthens the pedestrian circulation system for the overall development.
reflect the needs and requirements of its target users. The program discovering process involved the developer, designers, and families of targeted user groups in the workshop. The outcome of the program discovery became a starting point for the landscape design. Mega Park has double layers of circulation. The upper level of circulation connects from the interior of the shopping mall through a bridge structure. At the park, the elevated walkway continues through various nodes of design which feature an amphitheater, tree top walk, and tree house. In each feature, an integrated universal design ramp is provided, so that everyone could have a seamless connection between the elevated walkway and ground level. The design process of the park started from research and workshops targeting value proposition for specific users. The park design aims to create activities for children from ages 6-14 years old where their families could also enjoy the programs that the park provides. Hence, programs, scales, and accessibilities had to 39

walk. Combinations of tropical shrubs are planted along the walkway of the park so that children could learn about the local planting species which normally are not seen in the city area. Perennial plants in the flowering field are planted in 3-meter-wide strips. These strips provide food and habitat for different insect species such as bees and butterflies. In addition, children could have fun along the bike lane and also learn about local flora and fauna.

At the ground floor, a pathway system provides connections to the surrounding land plots around the park. Also, the red bike track loop provides another layer of activities such as cycling or jogging that could bring people to experience different parts of the park from the flowering field through the plaza and onto the open lawn area. Activities for children such as a water maze feature, tree house, semi-indoor playground tucked underneath the amphitheater, and slider are located within close proximity to one another, so that children and their parents could engage with each activity easily. While children are playing, parents could either play along with them or could rest on the amphitheater seating and observe their children.
Landscape design for Mega Park provides a place where families could spend their time together. The park design aims to create the safe environment and enjoyable experience for all users through a series of carefully planned and designed landscape features and diverse plantings. A deliberately thought out plan and design originating from its users.
The park not only provides a space for community but also an environmental enhancement. Soft scape design for the park is an exposition of different horticultural showcases. Ironwood is a dominant species that mixes with other tropical trees to create a forest effect for the tree top 40

Multilayer Park Within Mega Park, multiple layers of programs link seemlessly with exotic greenery to encourage social interactions, recreational activities, and biodiversities. Not only does the park links the main shopping mall to the new zone, but also serve as an urban catalyst. Multiple programs are proposed from the ground of target-users, children and their families. These programs are placed around a common lawn where visitors would be able to oversee the activities of the entire park. The looped circulation of the elevated walkway provide access and connectivity. It brings children on an exciting adventure inbetween activities and nature. Their joy bring liveliness to the park.
The park extended further North toward an adventurous bicycle track through rich vegetation field. The path is curvy with a serie of up and down slope that’s just enough to excite young children while gentle enough for safety measure. Along the path, children will discover multiple flowers and plants that attracts multiple wild life such as butterflies and drawf honney bees. Southward the park extends out as small plaza and pathway toward the new Mega Avenue that serve as the main street for the many future development. To hold the pieces together, red bike track is used as circulation guideline and visual connector that makes the park whole. 44

Spiral Tree House How can a universally designed ramp be more than just circulation? How can we design circulation as an attraction? This tree house design arised from this notion of thoughts to become a architectural pavilion that surround a large Afzelia tree. With an attempt to create appreciate to natural element, the ramp wraipped around the tree trunk for visitors to have visual engagement of
different level of the tree while enjoying the light and shadow that casted within. Together with the structural engineer, we designed the structural facade and beam that hold the ramp up toward the boardwalk. As a result, the ramp became part of the main attractions of the park.

Amphitheater Complexity With the limited space available and our priority in design well-connected spaces, this universal ramp is incorporated with the amphitheater, net play, and small children playroom underneath. The ramp creates a connection between the ground circulation and the elevated walkway above. The path is swinged to shorten in length as well as to provide a resting place for the amphitheater’s end
point. Furthermore, the wooden amphitheater hugged around the ramp and visually identify as one object. This provide a room underneath that was lined with EPDM to create small children playroom. Moreover, in order to expand visual connectivity the moment visitor arrive to the amphitheater, netting nylons are put in place of conventional railing for safety reason.

Canopy Boardwalk The boardwalk is designed for nature appreciation. It was designed with a gentle slope that takes visitors through multiple layers of canopy; from the ground up to 5.5 meter high. At the peak of the walk the main attraction, rolling slides, is expected to be installed within the following year. This slides will take children and visitors through an exciting ride inbetween exotic trees and shrubs. They will

The floor is lined with galvanized grating and the railing consited of stainless mesh. To give it an authentic touch, the railings are made of genuine teak wood, an insulating material.

A Green Infrastructure For Cultural Appreciation and Habitat Diversities Diverse species of plants are used in the softscape design for cultural appreciation. As a pleasant surprise, multiple of uncommon species are attracted to the park, resulting in a showcase of diversity in the habitat. Wild lives including multiple species of butterfly, bees, drawf bees, insects, birds, and lizard are found inhabiting Mega Park.

Jinan Huanyuhui Plot 656 Re-envisioning Commercial Public Park
a better accessibility and a warm welcoming experience that could rejuvenate the monotonic space at the sunken level.
Beijing Plot 656 is a new mixed use complex of Commercial and Office towers. It is located in the West of Beijing Metropolitan area where it is a gateway for the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. The commercial components are located in the center and the basement level of this development.
There are five courtyards with four accesses, from the fire exit staircases and the escalators, as required by local regulation. In order to create a better accessibility, the fire staircases were modified to split the entry at street level into both sides of each bridge that is adjacent to them. These new access points would directly connect to the main lobby of each tower in order to provide easy connection to the commercial level. These staircases were also designed as landscape terrains combined with softscape and hardscape. These landscape terrains provide the leading direction for people to walk directly to the shopfront areas. Then the landscape pathway at basement level will unified the entire circulation system by connecting all access points together.
At the basement level, the sunken courtyard is located along the East side of the development. The monotonic long stretch of sunken court is located in between the shopfront of restaurants and the retaining wall along the above street. The sunken court is also interrupted by five pedestrian bridges that connect from street level as well as from adjacent developments. With these conditions, the entire space is separated spatially by lighted and shaded conditions. In order to create a better experience for commercial function at the basement level, landscape design intervention must provide 55

planting designs which would change their appearances throughout different seasons. These courtyards become a main figure in the landscape as they are exposed to natural light. In contrast, the cave landscape – the alternated areas under the link bridges – will become the dynamic transitional spaces that connect every landscape courtyards together. Different water features – from static horizon to dynamic verizon – were introduced to create different effects. The reflecting ponds are located under the largest link bridges in order to diminish the experience of dark, clutter, underground feeling by bringing natural light and reflection of the garden into the spaces. The reflective ceiling design combined with sculptural features provides a surreal effect that amplifies the immersive visual experience. The rain curtain feature provides a vertical movement and delightful sound of water that could refresh the entire space. At the center court, the main event space is designed to be flexible for different functions. The feature wall becomes a celebration for the main entrance of the shopping atrium. This feature provides a glimpse of a welcoming landscape at the sunken courtyard for all visitors from the interior of the shopping mall.
With this direct connection and directional guidance through landscape intervention, the vertical and horizontal circulation are established to strengthen the commercial experience. The landscape dioramas of each court acts as a miniature of nature that enhance the experience of each shop along the entire commercial facade. They provide visual pleasure to the viewers with different points of view along the long corridor. The physical and visual connections from the street level to the commercial level are very crucial for the users’ experience. Therefore, different landscape characters that could provide the physical and visual impact – from mountain, plateau, and cave – were designed to fit with physical conditions of the development. These natural features are re-interpreted with the simple gesture of horizontal lines that would bring the sense of calmness and provide horizontal visual connection throughout the stretch of the sunken courtyard. Seatings are designed to be integrated with the overall landscape terrains. These terrains are vertical and horizontal undulated. They not only create a directional guidance to the shops, but also create a change of scenery as people move along the landscape. The terrains also help to block down the cold wind in order to create pocket spaces that are more comfortable for seating during winter. Each landscape diorama is designed with different 56

Overhead Plane in Landscape Architecture Taking advantage of the overhead plane formed by the bridge above, the cave landscape on the east side of the project introduced a lumber pieces that formed overhanged mass. The overhead pieces are formed systematically in 3-dimentional grid. The mass is carved

Cultural Landscape Feature Hexagonal steel rods are used to form an abstraction of traditional Chinese painting. Again, systematic randomness is used to break down the rigidity of the steel rods. The top of each rods are sliced off at an angle to emphasize the ridge of the mountains. Furthermore, some of the steel rods top are replaced with translucent acrylic and LED light system. The purpose of this is to
further empaszie the ridges. Behind the wall is the corridor to M/E rooms. The access to the corridor is to the side of the wall. This allow the service system to be hidden.

Ground and Overhead Continuity The nylon-guided waterfall serves as transucent buffer elements under the ‘cave’. This allow for the waterfeature in the temperate climate of Beijing. Water can be automatically closed during the freezing season and windy time.

Aestiq Thonglor The Reflection of You
Aestiq Thonglor is located on a prime urban neighborhood filled with offices, night clubs, and desirable restaurants. The area is crowded and busy all day and night. With the all the surrounding noises in the district, the landscape design aims to provide a quiet and serene space away from the chaotic atmosphere.
Furthermore, toward the end of the space, the sound of a water wall greyed out the outside noises while creating a refreshing atmosphere. The other two walls are lined with local black granite with reflective finishing. This creates and effect that extend the forest outward. Residents at Aestiq are able to find peaceful place within the noisy neighborhood of Thonglor.
Toward the back of the development, the “hideaway pavilion” nestles within lines of aromatic flowering Cork Tree. The pavilion main feature cosists of floating walls that allow the apprecaite the vegetation at ground level while framing the pure sky view that, other vice, would be filled with high rise buildings. Residents are provided with sunken seatings that takes them close to the over flowing reflecting pond that hugged them within the ground. Here they are able to relax with small a small pantry. They are able to read and sip beverages while they read.
In order to achieve the ‘floating’ feeling. The structural columns of the pavilion are extended outward inbetween the tree lines. The columns are then camouflaged seemlessly with the tree trunks. In addition, the facades of the pavilion are cladded with reflecting stainless steel to emphasize the interior and exterior since there are no typical boundary.

Carbonscape
[Re]tooling construction industries for carbon Sequestration open space for nearby communities.
Carbonscape addresses the shift from the cranberry industry in Massachusetts to agroforestry to mitigate climate change. Through sequestering carbon in wood and storing it long term as construction materials in our built environment, we can generate viable economic demand that will actively reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The project focuses on providing necessary biophysical infrastructures and establishing a new material culture within Wareham and adjacent cities.
This project seeks to establish the biophysical infrastructure system that promotes the synergy between socio-cultural practices of agroforestry, material production, and industrial economy through the timber. While silviculture is the primary operation on the sites, there are also spaces for agriculture and plant nurseries that provide diversity and economic benefits. As the trees grow, they dictate the spatial structure and environmental condition for the dynamic cycle of plant species and cultural activities. The wood than can be processed into engineered wood like glulam(GLT) and Cross-laminated Timber(CLT) that unlock architectural possibilities. The production of wood and engineered-timber processes will drive the shift in material culture and transform the industrial economy as a source of CO2 to a carbonnegative industry.
Cranberry has been a cultural and economic crop of Massachusetts for more than two centuries. However, the industry is experiencing an economic shift, environmental disturbances, and climate risks that are rendering it unprofitable. As the cranberry economy begins to shift, there is an opportunity for the silviculture industry to emerge as a productive landscape to mitigate climate change by sequestering carbon and providing renewable construction materials while also providing parks and

As the cranberry industry begins to change, a new productive landscape could emerge to alleviate the rising CO2 level.
Silviculture as biophysical infrastructure for construction idustry As trees age, they stop capturing carbon, as seen in the black line on the graph. The green line shows that harvesting them leaves room for new growth spurts. The dotted line indicates that harvested forests can capture more CO2 than the non-harvested ones.
In this regard, engineered timber like CLT or Cross Laminated Timber, which is structurally adequate for mid-rise building constructions, is ideal for the age of Anthropocene. To understand the metric we are dealing with here. A hectare of forest can sequester about 500 tons of CO2 and provide 20 CLT houses per cycle. The Cranberry industry as a whole has the potential to sequester more than 60,000 tons of CO2 per year and provide material for more than 2,400 CLT houses or 51 mid-rise buildings.
Timber is carbon negative while other construction materials emit Co2. So Its effect is two-fold: avoiding and storing.

Scale of Operation There are three scales in this operation. At the site scale, the bogs are transformed for agroforestry of Eastern White Pine, a native species that is suitable for engineered wood and thrive in acidic sandy conditions. At the manufacturing site, sawmills synthesize different parts of the woods into prefabricated architectural
components ready for on-site assembly. These two operations form the regional scale. The territorial scale includes the surrounding urban areas and the nearby bioreserve as a material
Sites locations This map shows the territorial operation and the flow of material resources from the production sites to the manufacturing site and the urban areas. The manufacturing site is located in the industrial area near the bioreserve and a cranberry bog. Next to it, the railway and highway will serve as the logistical
infrastructure to facilitate the flow of materials. The second site focuses on establishing a new material culture for the surrounding community. It is located on the UMASS cranberry experiment station, where a trail will connect the community and bogs within walking distance. 78

Manufacturing Site In the manufacturing site, woods enter the primary sawmill through trucks and railways. Veneers, Timber, and pulpwoods will be produced here and transported internally into their designated sawmills, where they will be processed into prefabricated parts and shipped to the construction sites. Wood residues will be transformed into biochar for planting materials. Blueberry, mushrooms, and nursery plants will also be produced and sold at the market in front of the main facility. The boardwalk and the watchtower are used to observe the pines and for recreational activities. Logistic of material flow - This site is designed to facilitate the logistics of constant material flows. 80

Agroforestry While silviculture is the primary operation on the sites, agriculture and plant nursery are integrated for socioeconomic activities. As the Pine grows, they dictate the spatial structure, inventory, and lighting conditions for the plant species. When it is sunny, lowbush blueberries are grown, and when pines shade the area, the production changes to Shiitake mushrooms. In the beginning, multiple species of trees are planted, and over the years, they are cultivated and thinned out, leaving only the pines toward the end of the cycle as they are harvested for timber. Landscape of Labor There are four types of laborers in these operations. The arborist and foresters will monitor and manage the pines’ conditions for pests and other threats. The nursery workers will plant, grow, water, transplant, prune, and care for the plants. And the Farmers will grow and cultivate the lowbush blueberry and Shiitake Mushroom. 82

U Mass Forest Park The community park and research site aim to nestle in the new material culture and inform visitors about climate mitigation. Pines are planted in 10 pizza slide shapes, each stand with a 5-year age difference.The main building serves as a greenhouse and a recreational, research, and educational facility. Hydrogen Mining Research Facility goal To effectively use the resources within the context and enhance the operation system of the Indo-China Mineral regions by introducing alternative energy sources and new transport system.
Many underdeveloped and remote areas in the world are without proper electrical and transportation network. Moreover, it is costly and inefficient to construct the infrastructures into these isolated regions. This call for energy in secluded locations means it’s time to seek for an alternative energy. H2FLOW is a self-sufficient research operation that will revolutionize off-the-grid energy and unlock potential of hydrogen technology in Indo-China mineral region. This trans-national project focuses on abstracting hydrogen energy from water, as water is byproduct of the open-pit mining process. With its rich deposition of Quartz and iron oxide--the main raw material for hydrogen production, Tako Pid Tong, the abandoned mine, serves as a perfect location to establish the research facility. H2FLOW will also introduce airship logistic transportation system, and air observatory for the Indo-China region. Let the hydrogen revolution begin!

Hydrogen Production There are two major method of gaining hydrogen from splitting water. The direct method directly split hydrogen using energy from the sun, while the indirect method uses electricity from renewable sources to split water in the process called electrolysis. Hydrogen is used as a mean to store energy. Hydrogen is then converted to electricity through a non-combustion method call fuelcell. Hydrogen are also used to lift airships, to makes explosive in mining process, and to fertilize vegetation.
